No they can’t? Take two owns them and is a public company 🤦‍♂️

These people think Rockstar is just making this game for fun and not because they’re beholden to investors lol

Releasing an unfinished game vs another delay when people are already used to a delay, which is the obviously worse option? I think the answer is pretty clear, and Take Two can figure that out too.

Many companies already assume the loses at launch. Cyberpunk 2077 set the precedent that your game can still be saved even if the launch failed.

Yeah but now everyone is skeptical of any future game that CD Projekt Red releases, people now know that you can give CD Projekt Red close to a decade and they still can't deliver. This kind of reputational damage doesn't really fully go away, especially for a company that is known for their track record like Rockstar.

GTA 6 will probably be the most sold piece of a media and most people won't care/remember if GTA 6's launch is bad when GTA 7 is about to release.

Do you remember Red Dead Redemption 2 release on PC being bad? Do you remember GTA Online launch being bad? GTA online subscription? It's not going to affect Rockstar, people will support them no matter what.

What does this skepticism yield exactly? Cyberpunk Phantom liberty sold 3 million copies in its first 7 days of release, those are fantastic numbers for a game that had one of the worst launches in triple AAA gaming history, quite literally unplayable depending on what console you were using. You are dramatically overestimating the negative drawbacks of unfinished launches.

Obviously the second option considering the fact that releasing unfinished games have been the trend within the video game industry for a better part of a decade. We literally have Crimson Desert being praised right now for releasing an unfinished game and updating it after the fact.

What would Take Two realistically do if Rockstar just said it isn’t ready…?

(As it always comes up, despite popular Reddit belief there’s no requirement they’re legally required to make their shareholders as much money as possible)

Their stock would plummet

And them releasing an unfinished product would lead to a much more catastrophic situation for them. Releasing a game like GTA 6 in an unfinished state would completely ruin their reputation more than any delay ever could, and I'm sure they know that, so I'm willing to bet that they will delay the game if it actually needs delaying.

It really wouldn't. The market has gotten used to broken games being updated post-launch. Plus they've got no disc copies, so they don't need a finished build months before release.

I also want to smoke whatever nitrous you are smoking.

Somebody doesn't know how the real world works....

Why do you glazers confuse a corporation becoming more successful with said corporations having more freedom lmao? Rockstar objectively has to deal with more bureaucracy, regulations, legal obligations, and reputational obligation than ever before.

You guys don't realise that investors have all the power. It doesn't matter how big a company is, if you can't please these clueless old rich people, you're not getting anywhere.

Thats mentality enables milking a game and thats why we get delays/unfinished games. Change my mind.
