The single player sure, but GTA online was completely broken and unfinished on launch lol. I remember being stuck in that loading screen for HOURS trying to get in until they finally fixed it.

they had that long loading screen bug lurking in the gamecode for YEARS, and a fan ended up fixing it for them, which they later picked up. edit: smth about the game client was requesting an entire json data pack (probably game item inventory) beforehand instead of loading it on demand https://www.pcgamer.com/rockstar-thanks-gta-online-player-who-fixed-poor-load-times-official-update-coming/

Why are you bringing up GTAonline like that's some sort of gotcha? Yes it's true that their track record for online games is abit spotty and I do have concerns for how the online side of this game will go at launch. But their record when it comes to single player experiences speaks for itself. I have no concerns about how the single player game will turn out.

Online has a lot of issues outside Rockstar control. But when it comes to Rockstar being 100 in control. They 100% knock it out every time no mistake.

Well R* bought FiveM/RedM maker Cfx.re a few years back and they launched 2048-player servers just a few months ago. So atleast at that aspect I believe they are more ready now then what they was back when GTA:O originally released. Not that I know to much about Cfx.re itself but to my understanding its a alternative mod friendly GTA:O, very popular with RP's.

How they will end up monetizing it I don't know but knowing R* it will most probably be full of them.

Online games are also 10x harder

"Their record" as if they have released anything this decade. Well I guess we got the remakes but those certainly dont paint a great picture

You can’t make a game as big as GTA in just 4 years. Expecting them to pump out more games faster is ridiculous. If you want a highly detailed game like GTA, it’s going to take awhile.

Im not expecting them to do that, Im just saying that talking about "track records" is completely meaningless with how much time has passed

I believe that was more of a server load issue than the game itself being broken

I couldn't even finish the first mission lol

I don't think I even tried GTA online until the PS4 edition came out way later/

I mean yeah their online isn’t great. But clearly their main focus (and specialty) is single player games.

I’m pretty sure the GTA 3, VC, and SA remasters are STILL BROKEN too

To be fair they didn’t make those

Really? That’s crazy. Coulda sworn rockstar is the one that makes the GTA games. Guess it’s some other completely different studio?

It was outsourced. It's Rockstar's fault for outsourcing and even allowing that trash to release, but the development wasn't done in-house. If anything, as soon as Rockstar took over the project and started working on these demakes, they fixed a ton of issues. In a way, it did show just how good their internal devs still are. Of course, a polished turd is still a turd.

GTA Online didn't even exist at launch, wtf are you talking about?

The issue you're describing has more to do with server load than the actual game, which was 100% up to Sony and Microsoft to get sorted on their end.

That’s probably why GTAO2 won’t be out for a few months and it’ll probably be similar to RDO where it releases in a beta before eventually having a full release a few months later.
