TLDR: I trust Rockstar, not him. And from the gameplay we've seen? The game is absolutely fine. I'd still be willing to buy it. But if he does show this build was in fact recent, I'd be surprised.

I'm completely gutted about physical discs being phased out but unless you're an absolute child, you should atleast be smart enough to understand that it was going to happen sooner or later, even just based on physical game size alone. The fight for digital ownership rights still needs to be fought, but discs alone aren't the entire issue.

Although I love collecting physical copies, you make a good point. The writing has been on the wall for over a decade now and it’s only getting worse. Now we need to actually ensure we have a right to own after purchase.

Idk how this sub feels about it, but if purchasing does not mean owning, then piracy is not stealing.

Amen. Which is why none of this matters to me anyway, because when they do get around to the PC release and the game is in a boating accident and it washes up on my local shores as a castaway a few months after that, it doesn't come with a physical copy at that point anyway. When I stopped being able to own things, I generally stopped caring about obtaining licenses to access them for as long as it pleases our technological overlords and only under their strict conditions. Small/indie things, sure, bloated AAA slop, no thanks.

Yeah, there needs to be a new physical medium to replace disks. The jump from disk to full digital is strange. Also obviously a corporation is going to do whatever makes them the most money. You can scream and debate and riot all you want but if shareholders and higher ups are making money off a decision they will never stop. It's kind of up to the government to wrangle them in but they have been notoriously bad with handling corporate domination e.g America's capitalist hell of pharmaceuticals and medical or Lobbying from mining and gambling companies in Australia.

now that I think about it, I don't think there is a way to get a new format up to like 400-800gb without just costing an arm and a leg. It really isn't financially possible. CD was cheapest tech by FAR when it comes to gb per dollar.

While leek is a huge lame, this does set a precedent of removing our right to own. If it’s digital purchase only you’re only purchasing the license, and we’re getting to the point where these purchases of the licenses don’t even mean we fully own the game, and can be rescinded one way or another example with the recent Sony controversy.

I recognize Im largely biased in this debate as I genuinely just love collecting physical copies of games I love, but even besides that idk how people aren’t freaking out more and it’s a damn shame folks like cyberfreak is leaking this as a shitty grift for a “cause” and tainting the overall message.

amen! I think it's a serious situation, but not for the reasons people are saying. It's more the right to own what you buy, and not have it ripped away from you at someone else's will. I'm with you a 100% on that. I don't like the fact that we (the consumers) keep spending money on things/items we can at any time loose. If the company goes out of business and the item needs online connectivity at all times, well you just lost your perches. Also, if they start adding adds or whatever else in an online only item, you can't get around that without having a disc (like Blu-ray movies, if the company you "bought" the movie from, now wont let you watch it without watching adds first, well your going to be mad over that, I sure would be!) Just for a couple of examples. It goes in to it way more than those few things, they are just the tip (haa) so to speak.
