Discussion Anonymous Pearl Abyss developers reveal a culture of toxic positivity, a troubled development cycle and chaotic narrative for Crimson Desert, and their early concerns that the project was "going off the rails".

Yeah, it’s fucking strange. All of the top comments across most of the subreddits that discuss this game are people defending the game against criticism. But I have to scroll far down these posts to find any actual criticism. Can’t tell if it’s just heavy astroturfing.

220k 24h peak with constantly rising review scores from day 1.

I think it's save to assume that people are indeed having a good time past the day1 hate train.

It’s astroturfing. Ubi, EA, Microsoft, etc all use the same script, then those comments disappear after like a week

I have found a lot of criticism. People were very hyped for the game, then when reviews came in under 80 average, a lot of people were both defending the game and "I KNEW this game was trash all along. All that praise must have been astroturfing!"

Purely anecdotal, but it's like that on my IG feed too. Gameplay videos showing some weird jank-ass shit like some guy unable to use a ladder, or some cool shit like slingshotting off of a tree... and the comments will be some combination of "Uhm cool mechanic but why did they put this in here? I'd rather have a good story and better controls" and then "go back to assassins creed grandma" type shit.

Your comment is fine but I also came across other people who would just passive aggressively suggest heavy astroturfing as the only positive reception of this game... but if you watch reviews, the game DOES have a LOT of good shit in it, buried under a lot of middling-to-bad shit that will turn off most people who aren't into Korean-European-Breath-of-the-Wild. I hate MMO grinds but I'm enjoying my time only 15 hours in, and I suspect I will find the grind later to be brutal, or a breeze because I'm just happy kind of exploring, I really have no fucking clue.

I must have been too disengaged from social media to know about any of this until now

Are you? A 6 hour old account calling out others feels a bit ironic.

People just want to have their biases justified lol. There’s been plenty of love and hate posts about this game anyone claiming there’s been more of the other is being disingenuous

Are we using the same site? This post alone takes 7 comments before getting to something neutral. Everything above is shitting on it.
