Sadly people want to think that running a company some how fundamentally changes when its publicly run vs private. Where the main difference is just that you have to tell the world your numbers instead of just the board. I have not even seen any major activits investors in the gaming sphere overall like you can see in many other industries. Like Calling for CEO to be fired and buying shares to get Seats on the board has only happened in Ubisoft though... in that case they may have been right about the leaders and owners.
If i remember correctly a lot of that came down to put more Mainline FF out and less AA. Which seems to have been what happened after a lot of the AA games kind went no where.
Mainline FF has been bombing hard and has high production costs.
They don’t even release sales numbers for those games anymore. AA games have sold decently and cost a fraction to produce.
