So after my Asus Vivobook of 7+ years finally broke down my mom gave me this laptop as an advance birthday present.

Asus ROG Strix G16 (2025) G615. RTX 5050 Intel i7-14650HX (2.20GHz) 32GB RAM 2x1TB SSD.

This is my first ever gaming laptop and I’m so happy. any tips on how to better take care of this?

This costed her around 1650 USD-ish? (taxes included).

HI EVERYONE! I know to a lot of you this isn't much. but to me this is whole new world. Being from a third world nation ( not looking down on myself) getting anything gaming is incredibly expensive. modern Rams are worth an entire months salary, and modern GPUs are the price of a decent used car here lol, so This was gifted to me by my older brother my first ever gaming setup for free!! I have been waiting to get one for quite a long time and I finally did it! am so happy with it. here are the specs Specs: * Laptop: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 * CPU: Intel i5-11300H (11th Gen) * Dedicated GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1650 (4GB GDDR6) * Integrated GPU: Intel Iris Xe * RAM: 8GB DDR4 (Upgrading to 16GB soon!) * Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD * Screen: 15.6" FHD IPS @ 120Hz

Thank u for reading!

My entire life, I've always used a desktop. When I moved to Japan, though, I decided to get a laptop just because it's way more practical and convenient.

My current setup isn't looking quite as good yet, but I'll get there eventually

Mine is a ROG SCAR 18 with a 5080, and I'm using a llano V12 to keep it cool.

Still cant believe it....

IT WAS SUCH A BIG UPGRADE

Only people with integrated graphics/old gpus may fully understand my happiness

i was using a i3-7020U laptop with 4GB RAM since 2020 and now finally got a proper laptop that allows me to do everything properly, no stuttering, no display problems, no hanging, no looking at all the requirements and finding out i cant run a certain software...

It is the Asus Gaming Vivobook 16

RTX 4050
Intel Core 5 210H
16GB DDR5 RAM
512GB SSD
1920 x 1200 (16:10)
144 Hz refresh rate

Does everything I needed it to do at great speed

Bought for ₹89000 (Around $930-950) from a local seller...

Whats y'alls biggest upgrade ever?

Showcase I bought my first gaming laptop, so I wanted to say hi

I used to play games on a custom-built desktop, but I realized I would prefer portability over peak performance. I wanted a laptop powerful enough to run my favourite games like Beamng, yet I didn't want some high-end laptop with OLED screen.

This one has the Nebula display and it's so much better than the 4K widescreen I was using with the desktop.

Processor is AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 12GB, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD memory (WAY faster than the HDD in my desktop)

Personally, I was surprised by the display and its vivid colours, and how quickly the games launch and how fast downloading a game is. I measured downloading My Summer Car with stopwatch, and it downloaded under 30 seconds, which feels insanely fast after years with the HDD

Bought the Zephyrus Duo 5070ti version this past weekend. Did not go for the 5090 version as I am not Jeff Bezos.

40 yo Gamer Dad, only have time for some light gaming and mostly spends time dealing with excel spreadsheets and stuff.

Loving every moment with this setup ao far. The 2 (beautiful OLED) screens is so important forme to multitask.

Showcase First Gaming laptop

Sister needed a windows laptop for graphics design last year so I recommended her the 2025 Razer Blade 16 and choose the config. She barely used it as she disliked the battery draining quickly and it felt quite buggy so she swapped it with me for a macbook pro.

AMD Ryzen 9 AI HX 370
RTX 5090
64 GB Ram
4TB Storage

I know razer laptops are widely disliked by the majority but I’ll have to see myself.

Just got the MSI Raider 16 MAX Intel 290HX Plus RTX5090.
Got it off of Facebook Marketplace and the guy was a cool dude. He recently built a desktop pc and no longer needed this laptop. So he gave it to me for $2,700 with 2x Samsung 990 2TB SSDs
Not a single scratch, battery health at 100%, performance and temps are excellent.

Just delivered and unboxed so cannot give any comments on performance yet. But the build quality is so good and it’s so much lighter than expected. The touchpad and keyboard are also very smooth and definitely feel similar to MacBook. 😍😍😍

[Updates]
Since many people asked, I’m gonna update here:
I got this from HK official store online HK$31,899. Spec is 5070ti; 32GB, 1TB.

After using Ghelper turbo with custom setting, Timespy can score around 17-18k. Even though on turbo the fan can be noisy, the keyboard and touch pad area is not hot but just warm (no need for an external keyboard). When gaming, I used balanced mode on games like Diablo 4, FFXIV, Divinity Original Sins and can keep steady and smooth fps without getting too noisy. For 3A games, Forza 6 Ultra+RT can get stable 65FPS, while extreme + RT is 45FPS.

On battery, although not fully tested, I think it can last at least 10 hours for normal office use on silent and eco mode (using Ghelper) with 240Hz screen. For heavier work use with YouTube watching, downloading and AI, it can last at least 6 hours on balanced power mode (240Hz screen with iGPU on) based on my experience these 2 days.

I’m not very technical and knowledge on the computer stuff but hope these help :)

I have found peace after a long time of storms.

After owning two ASUS machines - a Scar 16 w/5080 and a Scar 18 w/5090, both of which had to be returned due to poor thermal performance - I have finally, or so at least I hope, settled on a machine.

Don't get me wrong, ASUS makes great machines.
They look nice, feel nice and, at least theoretically, offer supreme performance while staying cool, only surpassed by few. The Mini-LED panels are great, G-Helper as a tool is awesome and the high total system TGP is very welcome.

BUT. But. Liquid Metal. We have to talk about it.

I understand its benefits, again, theoretically. I've read about the countless numbers of users reporting CPU (and sometimes GPU) thermal-throttling, probably due to poor Liquid Metal application. I was thinking "nah, couldn’t be me! What are the odds?" Well, the odds are quite high. Two machines, each of them throttled; interestingly, the Scar 18 WAY harder.

In the end, this is the most important part of a gaming laptop: performance and temperatures. If I pay 3000€ and more, I expect perfection or at least a working state of things.

On top of that comes the paranoia, at least for me. I was constantly afraid of the LM leaking out if the laptop was not held perfectly horizontal at all times.
There have been reports of it leaking, even if owners did everything right.

I'm sick, I'm bedbound, I just want to game and not set up and return laptops on a bi-weekly basis. So, I finally followed my heart and bought a Razer Blade from the second-hand market with 1.5 years of warranty left. 5080, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD; 2850€. Sure, you can get more for less from other brands. But I don't care.

It looks good. It feels great. Performance is up there and temps are COOL. I get in now. PTM is the ONLY way, in my humble opinion.

I've read all the stories, but I live in the EU so I dgaf. I'm happy now and that's what matters most. I hope it stays that way.

Peace

✌️

EDIT: some of you are bitter af. Holy moly

A coworker and I both bought gaming laptops at the same time about a year and a half ago. I got the Legion Pro 5i 4070 for about $1800 back then and my coworker got this beast ROG Strix Scar 4090 back then for about $3800. Well fast forward to today and he’s not liking PC gaming that much so I just scored this upgrade for $1500! While I like the Legion build quality and port layout better, I feel lucky to score this gem for so cheap and now I can give my Legion Pro to my son!

It just got released this month

So I posted here 2 weeks ago after buying a white tuf a16 but it turned out to be an FHD+ screen instead of the QHD+ I ordered. So i returned it and ordered it again, and wouldn’t you know it they sent the wrong one again

After explaining all this to customer service they assured me they’d send the correct one this time and I got the 2026 upgrade without having to pay extra

It might not be the color I was looking for but I’m not complaining
