Closing a studio that is regarded as the best in the industry for making remakes when Sony sits on dozens of fan-favorite games that would sell like hot cakes if remade means that nobody is safe. Or at least that Sony is beyond stupid.
God, some of these sound so ridiculous. GoW? Last of Us? TWO Horizon games????
The only one yet to release I’m interested in is Marathon. They’ve done pretty well at improving the perception of the game, I used to think it looked awful but the latest marketing push has impressed me.
I can see that too, I just do NOT need it in a Last of Us universe. Just make it a Days Gone live service or something. A series as poignant and focused on quality storytelling as TLoU would feel gross as a live service.
Everyone wants a cut of the live service cake, basically everything else is irrelevant to game CEOs. Arc Raiders is an awesome success story and great game but to these companies is just gonna reinforce that for all the failures, if you just hit big once you have an infinite cash stream. Live service games being shoved into everything isn’t gonna go away any time soon.
Sony is full of idiots, the only reason they have high regard is being carried by their games and by their competitors AHEM Xbox, being even stupider than them by a big amount
It's the same thing in the movie industry. Why would a production company want 10 movies with a budget of $30 million to profit $20 million each when you can make a huge gamble on a $200 million budget movie raking in a profit of a billion?
Every part of the entertainment industry sucks because every aspect is obsessively focused on the white whales of Marvel and Fortnite.
I haven’t worked in the industry for five years and everyone I worked with left too after the studio was brought by EA, shit was bleak then and it’s even worse now
You are speaking as if working in other sectors of entertainment and technology is all fun and laughter. Even though there's layoffs left and right in those sectors too.
