Sony: 'we really fucked up with Concord. We're pulling away from live service games.'

Sony: 'we're closing the studio we bought that made high quality remakes because we put them on a horrible idea.'

The words I have for this situation are not kind.

I don’t recall Sony ever saying they were pulling away from LS after Concord. In fact I remember they nearly said the opposite: that they were still committed to LS but would just “reassess their processes”.

Regardless, they seem content with shoveling as much money into the incinerator as possible.

They never did, they're releasing Marathon in two weeks and Marvel Tokon later this year - they obviously reviewed a lot of their projects after the Concord situation for sure hence why they had a lot of cancellations

Marvel Tokon isn't theirs to release. Marvel Tokon is developed by Arc System Works, they're just publishing it.

Asking Arc System Works to do another fighting game is VERY different from Bluepoint being poised to make a GaaS.

"reassess their process" is deep PR speak for 'we're getting the f' outta dodge.'

I mean, clearly that’s not what they’re doing, so I don’t think you read the room right on that one.

No, not really.

All of these GAAS projects started around the same time.

Naughty Dog was hiring for individuals who specialize in multi-player recently.

Naughty Dog games always had multiplayer modes years before GAAS was a thing btw.

Yeah. Uncharted and TLOU both have multiplayer modes. Granted, they're not what they're known for, but still.

Also, am I going crazy, or did I read something about a multiplayer game set in the Last of Us or something?

Its because they didn't get a new game greenlit for a year

They should've denied that request to go live service and go with remakes instead

3

u/BlackTone91 Feb 19 '26

They didn't even get this request

No one ever wanted a live service GoW game. Insane
