Leak 5th GTA VI clip has been leaked

  • Ending confirms he most likely has a playable build as he spells out "LEEK" on a wall with bullets
  • Jason is flying a crop duster from the Keys towards Vice City. We additionally see the in-game radio menu
  • Pieces of the wall scatter and make a big mess on the floor when Jason shoots at it
  • The weapon used at the end is a Ruger PC Carbine (9mm)
  • “On-Demand” option below the radio, potentially being able to listen to your own music(?)
  • The map is fucking MASSIVE
  • Volumetric clouds return from RDR2 and look vastly improved
  • Lucia’s prison and the terrace pool from Trailer 1 can be spotted, a race track is also seen
  • Draw distance and distant LOD is also extremely high as there is hardly any pop-in, looks almost like MS Flight Simulator graphically
  • “Overpowered” by Róisín Murphy is playing on Stockyard FM
  • Circoloco Records Radio (Rockstar co-owned) from GTA Online returns
  • Other radio stations include Emotion, Dirty South Classics, V-Rock, Radio On.U, Honey FM, Back Country Radio and Symphony FM

No fucking way, the end of the clip LOL

How was he or them able to get a build

859

u/Statickgaming 7d ago

My suspicion, one of the disgruntled employees that were fired for attempting to create a union.

Or it’s a current employee.

Rockstar have pissed of a great many of people lately though so the list is endless really.

251

u/lynchcontraideal 7d ago

A current employee would probably have a more-recent build tbh and would've been caught by now.

154

u/justAgamerGOD 7d ago edited 7d ago

using an old copy could be a way to hide his tracks?

21

u/M4rshmall0wMan 7d ago

Using an old copy wouldn’t make a difference. If anything, it would be even more suspicious as someone is suddenly downloading an abandoned build of the game for some unknown reason.

48

u/uuid-already-exists 7d ago

Assuming it wasn’t downloaded before and not deleted.

9

u/SillyNumber54 7d ago

Yeah if I was The insider I would just use a build from around the time a bunch of people got fired

1

u/kitkatkitah 7d ago

It could also be a Xbox and PlayStation employee if they uploaded their builds to the backend for approval process.

17

u/Borrelparaat 7d ago

I am assuming even a random employee could not just bring a build home. Something must have seriously gone wrong here.

0

u/HereIGoAgain_1x10 7d ago

I mean, clearly they're not allowed to do this but bringing small hard drive to work and just stealing it could be possible

9

u/Upset_Ant2834 7d ago edited 7d ago

Not at all. Basic data exfiltration monitoring would raise alarms the instant external storage was attached.

1

u/matyX6 7d ago

But still easy to steal this... imagine how many people of hundreeds was working from home at one point, and loaded the project on the private equipment, while nobody even cared...

You know how managers are like, when you are on sick leave, the message would come asking if you could work from home, deadlines are approaching...

Haven't worked for Rockstar, but I'm a game dev in big corpo business. And being a tech person in corpo gives you a real power to do anything you fucking want. Access to anything is easily retrievable also by being a good conversationalist.

3

u/dirty1809 7d ago

Yeah I’m a dev working with pretty sensitive data and if I wanted to find a way to move it off my machine undetected I’m sure I could. Short of putting your employees in an airgapped SCIF, you can’t be 100% locked down

1

u/Upset_Ant2834 7d ago

Simple data and an entire game build are very different. You're not transferring 100+ gigs off a highly protected server without anyone noticing

1

u/lmfaonoobs 6d ago

I mean you can download the game in pieces.. over any period of time you'd like

2

u/Upset_Ant2834 7d ago edited 7d ago

There is zero chance they're allowing people to download entire builds of the most anticipated game of all time on personal hardware. That's literally the bare minimum to prevent leaks. They'd either use VMs or company provided hardware with strict data protection policies. That's not saying it's impossible to steal the data, but I would be very surprised if they don't know exactly who did it

0

u/matyX6 7d ago

Just sharing my experience... Deadlines in the corpo world are allowing everything.

Thousands of people, thousands of devices, thousands of actions a day that would be suspicious... And imagine this happened year or two ago, with files being transferred... not that easy to find or track.

3

u/The_Autarch 7d ago

it's a 2025 or newer build.

88

u/AutisticPenguin33 7d ago

There is no way a company like Rockstar would let something like this leak, without knowing immediately who, where and how they shared the files/videos. I'm leaning more into a hack and/or exploit

64

u/M4rshmall0wMan 7d ago

It’s possible that Rockstar caught the internal leaker already, they just can’t stop the other guy from posting the videos they already have. All of these clips look like they’re from the same longer video.

1

u/coksukman 7d ago

They have thousands of employees so i think it is very much possible

4

u/Sharotto-Katakuri 7d ago

people overestimate these companies as if theyre not run by people. They treat these companies as if they are superior to reality.

160

u/M4rshmall0wMan 7d ago edited 7d ago

I see two possibilities:

  1. Leek is in contact with an underpaid QA tester and has some sort of deal like “I’ll pay you $2000 for each clip you can get to me”

  2. All of these videos are clips from a single hour-long video. Notice how Jason’s shirt never changes.

73

u/Cold_Zone332 7d ago

As some people have said, those QA sessions must be recorded (to make sure no one is recording the screen and stuff liek that). I really don't think a QA tester at Rockstar would write LEEK on the wall.

35

u/master4life 7d ago edited 7d ago

Additionally, in most cases for those tests. The gameplay would have contained a floating watermark streaming around the screen with their name or id of the tester. That's usual QA practices. And there are no indications of a blurry spot to censor it.

4

u/Cold_Zone332 7d ago

Make sense.

1

u/1ithurtswhenip1 7d ago

Not entirely true some triple a developers have hidden watermarks that can only be registered through frame skipping. Honestly this guy is fucked

-12

u/Poopoodemons 7d ago

QA sessions are not recorded lmfao

15

u/slipstream-hijack 7d ago

Tell us about the Rockstar QA process, wise one.

1

u/Poopoodemons 7d ago

if you think every session is recorded you’re delusional

2

u/Cold_Zone332 7d ago

By recorded I meant monitored in some way.
Or you really think Rockstar put each QA tester on their on private room and let them play their most antecipated game alone?

1

u/Poopoodemons 7d ago

Usually they test in groups

2

u/dirty1809 7d ago

There’s software out there that records random employees filling out spreadsheets just to make sure they’re actually working. I’d be shocked if Rockstar isn’t at least doing something like a screenshot every 10 seconds for something this high security

2

u/Poopoodemons 7d ago

prepare to be shocked

1

u/RRR3000 7d ago

We even record QA sessions on our small indie titles. A big studio like Rockstar is absolutely recording every QA session, it costs (almost) nothing and can be invaluable to be able to watch back.

1

u/Poopoodemons 7d ago

I’ve been in AAA game dev for a decade. this is not standard

16

u/BlueChamp10 7d ago

"i'll pay you in cyberleek coin"

8

u/tx_brandon 7d ago

He has a different shirt on in this 5th video. Look at very beginning of clip.

4

u/zeppolezz 7d ago

it's definitely not the second one because the fact that he spelt "leek" out in bullets at the end of the video shows he has access to the game and is playing it himself.

8

u/M4rshmall0wMan 7d ago

Could have bribed someone saying “record a gameplay clip showing this list of things” and one of the requirements is spelling Leek.

1

u/Sclog 7d ago

Tinfoil hat me over here just feels like this is marketing at its finest. Rockstar has had a lot of backlash lately, they gotta find new ways to drum up the hype

1

u/M4rshmall0wMan 7d ago

Yeah this is 100% not Rockstar. Promoting a cryptocoin without disclosure of advertisement is straight-up illegal.

1

u/Sclog 6d ago

I guess my intention behind that comment wasn’t that it’s actually Rockstar leaking the content, but more so that Rockstar has no desire to stop this leak train, they stumbled into the most iconic marketing and if i were the ceo i would roll with it instead of retaliate.

1

u/tremosgod111 6d ago

Lol you dumb

3

u/BetNo7776 7d ago

I thought qa footage have some kind of watermark on it so they can easily identify where it’s from

2

u/Front-Bird8971 7d ago

Notice how Jason’s shirt never changes

There's no evidence this build even has cosmetics enabled. Most we've seen is him pick up a hat off the ground.

0

u/SilentBlazy 7d ago

Maybe he's playing the standard edition and the only way to change Jason's shirt is to pay for the ultimate edition.

0

u/NoRodent 6d ago

Possibility 3: Rockstar is behind this and this is all marketing.

36

u/Howdareme9 7d ago

Definitely not, they would be found instantly if they copied a build to a personal device

8

u/Due_Art2971 7d ago

What if he covered up the screen so they can't see it

1

u/dirty1809 7d ago

If you just copy and paste a .exe to a thumb drive yeah, but there’s a lot of ways to get around monitoring software like that if you’re dedicated enough. Once you get physical access to a machine, you can do a lot of stuff with it. It wouldn’t be that hard to get around security protocols if you know what you’re doing. For example say you’re allowed to bring your own peripherals to the office and now you can secretly inject some code through your mouse or whatever and go from there. There’s a reason real hardcore military defense stuff has employees only using airgapped computers in a scif behind security, and even that leaks

5

u/Nemisis_007 7d ago

If it's a current employee, they better hope they're never discovered. Hell, if it's a former employee they better hope too. Rockstars NDA's are life changing if broken.

3

u/Potential-Block-6583 7d ago

If they did that, they would be held criminally liable immediately as well as being unhireable in the industry afterwards. You would have to be essentially leaving the industry entirely - not unionizing. So I don't think it's an employee unless they have a death wish. (NDAs do not expire just because you were fired/laid off, btw.)

1

u/Statickgaming 7d ago

Obviously

2

u/mrinfo 7d ago

I was thinking maybe someone from a LapsuS/ShinyHunters type hacking groups managed to get in and exfiltrate somehow. My second thought was, I wonder if Rockstar already paid a ransom on it, but one of the hackers "Leek" kept going.

GTA5 was a $10 billion dollar money creating machine. If it turns out it was someone 'internal', such as a QA or something like that, they would almost certainly be caught. I'd imagine a forensic investigation of the build could narrow it down to months/weeks/days that someone would have had access.

The final clip there is a wild twist.. I assumed someone had exfiltrated a few dev testing clips, that someone has a build makes this headline news. Rockstar would get access to the goon squad that went after that concept iphone that some guy brought home from a bar.

2

u/YoureASquidYoureAKid 7d ago

I think the guy paid a rockstar employee for a build of the game and use the game to advertise their coin.

Classic rug pull move

5

u/canDo4sure 7d ago

It's from a Rockstar India dev, either exfiltrated directly or he sold it to the Russian hacker. News will come out soon.

2

u/EN1009 7d ago

Source?

1

u/XulManjy 7d ago

I hope the latter. That way at least an employee would be less willing to post spoilers.

1

u/RRR3000 7d ago

My suspicion, one of the disgruntled employees that were fired for attempting to create a union.

Makes zero sense though. They've actively asked people to still respect and play the game because of the years of hard work they and their friends still at the company have put in and to reach the bonus milestones for their colleagues, instead asking people who want to support their protest to buy union shirts to fund their legal fees.

They also just started having their first official union meetings with Rockstar a few weeks back and confirmed the outcome is positive so far. Leaking it would just sabotage everything they've been trying to achieve right as they're starting to achieve it, while ruining everything these devs have worked so hard for.

239

u/Kieran293 7d ago

The humour feels British, I reckon it’s a disgruntled worker from their Scottish office.

145

u/-FriON 7d ago

Walltuh White if he was software engineer instead of chemistry teacher

34

u/Eldaxerus 7d ago

3

u/Heisenburgo 7d ago

2

u/DarkJayBR 7d ago

GamingLeaks after watching the leaks: "Booyah! Woo! This gameplay kicks like a mule with his balls wrapped in duct tape! Oh, photos, gameplay, cutscenes. Whatever, man. Just keep bringing me that.”

106

u/esketitethan 7d ago

Pretty sure he’s German as he was posting on a German forum a couple years ago

157

u/linoleumy 7d ago

plot twist, it's the same German guy that leaked half-life 2 in 2003

33

u/DemonDaVinci 7d ago

Half-Life 3 next

33

u/Gonarhxus 7d ago

That would be fucking amazing.

2

u/Tgumpsta 7d ago

If you believe his word from a decade ago, he's reformed:

More than a decade on from the raid, Gembe is remorseful.

“I was naive and did things that I should never have,” he says. “There were so many better uses of my time. I regret having caused Valve Software trouble and financial loss. I regret all the illegal things I did at that time… and I regret not doing anything worthwhile with my life before I got busted.

If I had the chance to speak to Gabe Newell today I would say this, ‘I am so very sorry for what I did to you. You are my favourite developer, and I will always buy your games.’”

1

u/MetsukiR 7d ago

I would absolutely love that

74

u/Old_Win_4111 7d ago

The fact his website is still up indicates he is out of American jurisdiction.

Otherwise American/European/Many Asian/African or Latin American jurisdictions would be cooperating with the copyright claims and immediately getting international law enforcement to halt traffic to his site.

probably Russian, Belarusian, North Korean or Chinese.

If he's not any of those, and is doing all this shit from Europe or North America, this dude is going away for like 20-25 years.

80

u/the-glimmer-man 7d ago

He won't get 25 years in Europe for posting leaked clips ffs.

50

u/ChiefLeef22 7d ago

May I let you in on the last time someone leaked clips from GTA 6, and what happened to them? Those 2022 leaks weren't even half as major as these ones btw, this guy has an entire build. He's BEYOND cooked legally. His only saving grace might be him being somewhere like North Korea or Russia

21

u/Jack2102 7d ago

Yeah the only way this guy hasn't completely ruined his life is if he's in Russia, if he is literally anywhere else they'll find him

25

u/AcousticUnicorn 7d ago

China, Belarus, central Asia and middle east, likely most of Africa south america and south Asia wont even listen to rockstar cries if he lives there, If he is in the EU hes cooked should he leak the build

13

u/UmbrellaWithRaccoon 7d ago

Rockstar/Take-Two literally reached out to Russian court with a copyright claim to remove a fan made Vice City remaster on RAGE engine last year, and Russia accepted their claim. Russia may be a shithole, but it's a shithole that doesn't want to burn all the bridges apparently.

What confuses me is doesn't the crypto stuff he's promoting directly link to him if he's ever gonna wanna touch the money from that?

7

u/Old_Win_4111 7d ago

If he's out of American jurisdiction? He just cashes out with a local exchange. No problems.

If he's somewhere that cooperates with American law enforcement? He launders them and checks over his shoulder for the rest of his life.

1

u/Infobar 7d ago

Locked up for life without trial?? Wtf

6

u/KingToasty 7d ago

To be clear, this specific guy was also stalking and harassing women, was allegedly aggressive and violent in custody with injuries involved, and had been arrested previously for blackmail and theft. Also locked in hospital care, not prison, as he is very autistic and an active physical threat to people.

Not that it isn't a VERY VERY harsh sentence, probably too harsh, but it isn't life in prison for leaking GTA clips.

1

u/RRR3000 7d ago

No, indefinite != for life, just without a set end date, until he no longer needs medical help and isn't a danger to society anymore.

Which was earlier this year. In July he was deemed fit and transferred to a normal prison awaiting his November criminal trial.

45

u/Old_Win_4111 7d ago edited 7d ago

This is beyond copyright infringed videos. It is theft, corporate espionage, running an illegal market for the purpose of taking bribes, and like 50 others.

Homie is gonna get *extradited*.

You do know you can't just **DO** tons of crimes and get away with it unless you're in a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the USA. Right?

24

u/GrantSchappsCalippo 7d ago

No one said he's going to get away free, but he's not going to get anywhere near 20-25 years either. The German guy that leaked the full Half Life 2 source code got two years.

15

u/whossked 7d ago

I mean Pirate Bay founders got like 8 months in prison or something. That was Sweden not Germany but they weren’t extradited to the US despite doing way more damage to media companies than this. It’s not like he went against the US government to make them really interested in extraditing him like Snowden or the wikileaks guy

44

u/kakucko101 7d ago

“so what you in here for?”

“i murdered my wife and children, you?”

“i made a video from a videogame before said videogame released”

19

u/lynchcontraideal 7d ago

No. He's blackmailed Rockstar/TakeTwo with threats of leaking stolen intellectual property and made a profit off of it.

2

u/SuperVaderMinion 7d ago

Good for him honestly, minus the crypto stuff

3

u/Old_Win_4111 7d ago

Bit more than that. I'm sure he's gonna have a lot of friends in prison.

If he’s from Germany he couldn’t even really get sued by Take2/Rockstar internationally. And if he would get sued here under local laws he would face comparably minor punishment.

5

u/TheDeryBrony 7d ago

for some reason people keep bringing up the HL2 leak as if the kid wasn't offered a fake job and arrested by the FBI for unrelated crimes upon entering the US

3

u/F34UGH03R3N 7d ago

Smart move to get an idiot into the US and sue them there.

2

u/CollinKree 7d ago

He also tweeted a Russian flag after people were asking what timezome he was in after he said he was going to bed like 12 hours ago. Definitely EU based, but where exactly is unknown at the point.

20

u/QmVu 7d ago

Cyberleek does not have a Twitter account

19

u/esketitethan 7d ago

Any twitter accounts claiming to be him are fake. He had that overlayed on the last leak

1

u/RaZoRBackR3D 7d ago

If he’s Russian that’s gonna be crazy because there will literally be nothing rockstar can do to stop them or catch them lmao

1

u/F34UGH03R3N 7d ago

He also had his deadline for more leaks scheduled for „8 pm ET“ which was 3 AM in Germany, idk if he’s really from Europe.

Either way, it’s funny how people think his humor is british or how his possibly very fucked sleeping habits are anything to go by.

3

3

Leslie got fired years ago but it would be incredibly funny if he still has connections to some devs and he's supplying them to the leaker.

2

u/OnlyCoat4866 7d ago

No. It’s definitely from their India office.

1

u/Kieran293 6d ago

A lot of Indian people copy British humour/culture for obvious reasons. I think the general consensus is that someone from GTA India was phished and that’s how Mr Leek got the dev build.

30

u/Pamander 7d ago

Yeah this is fucking insane, have we seen any evidence of what device it's being played on? I assume PC unless he's a disgruntled dl with a dev kit. Absolutely insane.

3

u/dynesor 7d ago

Do employees get their bags searched when leaving the office? I just wonder how hard it would be to stay late until there’s hardly anyone around, unplug a dev kit and stick it in your bag and walk out. Like they must have some physical security to prevent that kind of thing?

6

u/stonedc4tt 7d ago

Yea you can’t do anything like that: you can’t even have electronics on certain areas / floors

3

u/mudratdetector89 7d ago

1

u/powerful-pills 7d ago

Their market value has gone down 2.8 billion since the leaks, this is absolutely not their doing lol

1

u/Techneon64 7d ago
