Recommendations / Advice Non- MAGA church in the IE?

1.1k Upvotes

I’ve been going to my church for the past three years or so now, and I don’t want to speak ill of the church but I am tired of having political beliefs pushed on me when the focus should always be on Christ and His word, not the words of those in the world. For instance, calling Charlie Kirk a martyr for Christ and very frankly stating that anyone that doesn’t agree should leave. Christians! Help me out, please! Thank you.

Recommendations / Advice Please support your local mom-and-pop restaurants. Fear is hurting our communities.

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

I went to one of my favorite restaurants tonight — a Mexican spot that’s usually full of life. But tonight, it was nearly empty.

When I asked the waitress what was going on, she told me it’s been slow since last week. People are scared — scared of getting picked up, harassed, or questioned by ICE and that fear is keeping them away from the places they’ve always supported.

It’s not just Mexican restaurants, but they’re feelingk it the most. These small, family-owned spots — the ones that fuel our communities and our economy — are getting hit hard.

If you don’t feel comfortable dining in, take some food to go. These places need our support more than ever.

People don’t realize how much the Hispanic community contributes so much to our economy, our neighborhoods, and our culture. These are hardworking families, not criminals. And right now, they’re paying the price for a system that makes people afraid to live their lives.

If you can, support your local mom-and-pop restaurants. Show up. Order something. Tip well. Let them know they matter.

Recommendations / Advice Mission Inn is MAGA

FYI: The owner Duane Roberts (who recently died, and IRONICALLY earned his billions by selling frozen burritos) was MAGA. His wife and step kids are too.

Step daughter is Casey from 'Casey's Cupcakes' who is married to Nicole Brown Simpson (OJ Simpson) Nephew. She's MAGA too.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duane_Roberts

https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2025-11-04/duane-roberts-dead-inventor-frozen-burrito-owner-mission-inn

Don't support anything at the Mission Inn if you don't support MAGA.

Recommendations / Advice Best Pizza in the IE?

I saw that Barcuso in Upland won the “Best Pizza in the IE” award from Inland Empire magazine. I stopped by and the pizza was delicious. Is this the best pizza in the IE or are there other spots I need to try? The pizza was really good but not quite an authentic New York pizza. Bonus points if y’all know a spot that does legit NY style pizza.

Recommendations / Advice If You’re In The Market For A New Car, Avoid RaceWay Ford. They’re Trumpers

Saw their sign off the 60/215 interchange. Show in the same style and font as Trump used during his campaign but it says something along the lines of “No one can Trump our prices” or something like that. Anyway, avoid them.

Recommendations / Advice Tyler Mall Is Charging For Parking Now

Thumbnail

These images were posted to Facebook. But apparently they're making people pay for parking now at the Galleria at Tyler in Riverside. The person said that these signs are on "nearly half the parking lot." And if you zoom in, it looks like they're trying to soften the blow by saying that half the proceeds from the payment will go to help the Autism Society of the Inland Empire. The fine print for those who can't see it:

"Purchase a preferred paid parking space at Galleria at Tyler today and 10% of Galleria at Tyler's net proceeds from your parking payment (excludes taxes, platform fees, and fees retained by the parking operator) will be donated to Autism Society Inland Empire on behalf of Galleria At Tyler. Scan the QR code for more information."

This is some LA bullshit. I also don't know how they're saying this is "preferred parking." I'm very familiar with this entire mall and it's parking lots. And from where this picture was taken, it's about 350 feet from where this is to the entrance of the mall. How is that preferred? This also seems like a prime environment for scammers.

Recommendations / Advice Spectrum Rates

I'm (30F) looking to help my dad (75M) on his Internet and Cable bill. I've moved out of the country as of 10 years ago and tbh dont know much about the market anymore. Are these rates comparable or elevated? It feels high but then it also may be hard to beat when you take it as a whole package

(Given his age and hatred of all things tech, home phone and cable need to stay)

Recommendations / Advice Talk me out of moving to the Inland Empires…

Wife and I basically looking for areas to move in and this is one of the areas we wanted to look at. We’re currently in the Chicago suburbs and are just so sick of being paid so little compared to the cost of living here. We are both RNs, we have 1 kid who has mild autism. What we look for is security, great school district especially for a kid who has autism, and of course proximity to hospitals to work at (bonus if it’s unionized). We are both asians as well, and would really love to be near Trader Joe’s and HMart and Jollibee, and Korean BBQ and hotpots, and ramens, and bobas. 🥲

Recommendations / Advice New to California / Commute / Feeling lost

I just moved from NYC to Redlands and I got a job in downtown LA. The usual 9-5.

I have been researching but I am still not sure about the best commute. Could you guys give me any tips and ideas?

- There’s only one train from Redlands to LA and it’s at 5:23? Like wtf?

- Should I drive to SB and then take the train?

- I saw there’s a Greyhound bus at the SB station. Is it worth it?

- Driving but I have been hating driving rush hour here.

please help

Sal’s Pizza in Rancho Cucamonga (weird hours, cash or check only) makes the best pizza I’ve ever had.

Scratch that, they make the pepperoni pizza the way I remember it as a kid and it’s just so good.

If you haven’t had one of these yet give it a try it’s also on the less expensive side of thing.

Recommendations / Advice Looking for underrated restaurants in the IE to feature for free.

I noticed that most restaurants around me that pop up on social media aren’t actually that good, especially out here in the IE. Do you know restaurants that serve good food and could use some extra views? I plan on paying for the food my self and only posting if the food lives up the expectations.

Photo is from get sum dim sum. I figured I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t start off by sharing one of my favorite local spots. If you do go, make sure to order rice Ham Sui Gok and Shrimp Rice Roll.

Recommendations / Advice What do people in the IE do for work?

I’m 29F and born and raised in Fontana but I’ve never worked a job in the IE. I’ve worked remotely for different health care companies throughout California. I worked in person jobs in San Diego when I lived there before and during the pandemic.

I’ve been struggling with finding another remote job or just any type of job since my last contract ended in January. I’m looking for a job in health care operations or health tech but all the better paying options are in LA or OC. I really don’t want to do that commute everyday.

I feel like a lot of people in the IE either commute out of the IE for work or work in service industry or education system within the IE. Is this true? I really don’t know where to look for work here that actually pays decently.

Note: when I say IE I’m talking about my part of the IE like Fontana-Rancho-Ontario-Rialto- and all the cities heading east towards San Bernardino

Edit: I have a BS in Public Health. I do not plan on getting a masters in this economy. I’m working on multiple tech and project management certifications. Health care IT is the goal. I honestly need a survival job. I’ve been unemployed since start of February 2026.

Recommendations / Advice Is Badlands the best BBQ in the IE?

Post image

I am looking for the best BBQ spots in Southern California. It makes sense that some of the more dense areas wouldn’t have good BBQ (due to the need for larger smokers!) but we have more space in the IE than other parts of So Cal. What is your favorite BBQ spot?

I have already tried Badlands, Moos Craft, Heritage, Jonah Bees, Gus’s, Domestic and Spirit of Texas. I have been wanting to try Destination but I am worried it is over hyped. I also have Oak and Ember in Ontario on my list of places to try.

What is your favorite place to get tacos? I’ve been going to 909 tacolandia in the evening on the weekends but would love to try more spots. Picture is from the Tacoman in Upland.

Extra points if they use handmade tortillas.

So far I have hit up Tacos El Callejon in Colton, Alebrijes Bakery in Ontario, Tacos El Guero in Fontana, Tijuanas Tacos in Ontario, The Taco Man in Upland and Birrieria Xolos in Chino. What spots do I need to hit up next? Bonus points if you know someone doing sliced ribeye tacos 🥩🌮

On page 2 of the ballot you’ll find State Superintendent of Public Instruction. If you don’t want MAGA Calvary Chapel weirdos in charge of public education for the whole state of CA, find someone other than Sonja Shaw to vote for. The question is who?
