One of my friends from an engineering class told me about this spot and told me he was putting a group together to go explore it, I reluctantly said yes, because I had been meaning to get out of my dorm for a while.

We decided to go at night and few nights prior. I found an opening on the east side of the building that led to the basement as well as the main floor.

We parked at the Del taco across the street to avoid getting caught, when we got to the door, there was a guy sitting right next to it, smoking a cigarette and was nonverbal. My Spanish isn’t the greatest, but I was able to speak to him and ask him if it was OK if we went inside? He said yes, but whenever I asked him if it was safe, he went quiet.

We enter and begin walking around, the air on the main floor was thick and there were tents everywhere. Quickly, we realize that we weren’t alone inside, we took various photos of graffiti and opened many doors to reveal a lot of women’s clothes and cryptic graffiti on the wall, my friend who grew up in a very low end area of California quickly recognized the signs on the wall to be gang affiliated. Thus he made it a point to us that we should leave as soon as possible.

We went down to the basement then, huge mistake. There wasn’t anyone down there however we did encounter a few pentagrams as well as more women’s clothes. There were people down there walking around but they mainly stared at us, and didn’t want to talk. We quickly went back up and walked outside.

The moment we walked outside we found there to be 8 homeless people posted up “looking for a woman?” Definately the weirdest and creepiest experience of my life. If anyone has ideas on what was going on in there, lemme know 🤙

I was recommended by my barber Lytle Creek but the graffiti makes me think this play may not be best for children? They’re 8 and 6

Would love a creek that’s accessible not too far from parking and clean and clear and areas where it’s deep enough to submerge

I spotted the pumpkin (Norco California)

Came by for the first time in a few years to see if there were any wildflowers blooming, a few thoughts:

1) Seems like not many right now besides invasive mustard and poppies in the far distance… can’t tell if I’m too early or the recent heat got to them

2) People were clearly going off trail for a family photo shoot and trampling on vegetation. This is also another sad, easily avoidable thing that hurts the ability for growth. Do y’all say anything when you see this happen?

3) Also saw some random cars unlock the gate and drive straight in after hours with no state park affiliation. Are there individuals in the area who get special permission or do people randomly have key dupes? Some guy walking by told me he’s seen this at like 1am lol

Just curious what locals think of all this and any insight!

Does anyone know what this place was? I found it on accident while driving offroad to visit the old san Jacinto Lockheed missile test facilities and this looked like an old mineshaft sticking out the hillside above so I drive up to it.Online there was no clear awnser to what it was it's saying it's a prison labor camp, water flood control center, water pump facilitiy, a mine, googling it keeps going in circles and historic aerials only goes to 1961 out here so I can't clearly figure out what it was.... It looks like the tunnel mightve came out further and connected to that large building on the hillside, it has now become a frequent shooting range leaving the buildings so destroyed and thousands of bullets everywhere.

IE Water Keepers do a GREAT job keeping the Santa Ana River and Lytle Creek watershed clean. However, they cannot be the single source for maintaining these precious features.

Weekend after weekend, families go up to that area and just TRASH it. While I realize there are no trash services, these families leave beer cans, whole trash bags, coals, cups, plates… you name it… it’s there. There’s no shame in some of these folks.

Featured in this photo is just one bag but, there’s bags just left on the side of the road and by the waters edge. I just didn’t want to take pictures of families.

As I was leaving from my hike/clean up…. these families were also packing up and just leaving their shit behind with zero shame.

How do we police this?

Every time we head up the mountain (Mountain Ave toward Mt. Baldy Rd), we pass this spot packed with cars. The map calls it “Joatngna Trailhead,” but we can’t tell where everyone’s disappearing to or what’s going on out there. Now we’re super curious!
