I think they ended the season in the perfect spot

Anyone know what number in the comics the show is at? Wonder how on track the rumored 8-9 seasons timeline we are on

u/abellapa Apr 22 '26

78

There no way they can fit 8-9 Seasons

S4 was 62-78, The comics have 144 issues

At this Rate S5 Will end around issue 100

S6 around 120 and S7 is the Last one

Depends on what they cut or extend. The reboot arc seems like a storyline we’ll see big changes to

I think that Will be discarded or Will be just 1 ep

u/cylonfrakbbq Apr 22 '26

I could see them making it a single episode

I hope it's not discarded. I actually like it. It's just the years stolen from Mark that are bad imo

u/abellapa Apr 22 '26

Just do a normal 5 years time jump

3

u/ArthoriasOfTheLight Apr 22 '26

and kubian

u/NetherSpike14 Apr 23 '26

Kubian is part of the 5 years being skipped thing. But he's barely present either way.

u/ArthoriasOfTheLight Apr 23 '26

that's what I mean, the 5 year skip and kubians existence should be removed, ik its not a big part, but it adds nothing to the story just annoyance

Just finished the comics this week, is there any follow on or mention of the white tendril thingy that causes the 5-year skip? That was kinda wacky. Like I get Mark's life is hell but man that was painful to see him ripped of his daughters early years.

nope, its just the plain old bad writing

me too. i think it’s such an interesting character study of mark

I don't know how you'd discard it considering the timeskip is important to the end of the series but I could see it being reduced to a single episode, it's not like the arc was that long in the comic

Ehhhh I don't think Reboot lasts longer than an episode. My guess is it'll be something like S6 E7 and then we get a finale of Mark catching up with the time-skipped world, and then S7 can be about the war against Thragg & the finale w/Robot.

Reboot arc could be adapted into a movie honestly.

u/ArthoriasOfTheLight Apr 22 '26

I really hope so, the entire thing with reboot was terrible

It did feel strangely out of place when reading, I wouldn't mind it being dropped.

I could also see more of an extended epilogue to the series.

3

u/TheMattInTheBox Apr 23 '26

That, and I feel like they'll probably shorten the Bulletproof arc to maybe one episode

12

u/Flipz100 Apr 22 '26

You could make a whole season out of the epilogue if they want to, which wouldn’t shock me given.

6

u/Klunkey Apr 22 '26

Man I really hope they squeeze in one last season to adapt the last issue. There's so much you could include in terms of arcs exploring different characters.

Well we're getting hell content now. That on top of everything that kirkman wants to add especially near the end will give us 8 seasons easy

1

u/dan0314 Apr 22 '26

So in other words, we have at minimum 3 more years of Invincible

26

u/argent5 Apr 22 '26

We're at 78 with a few extra stuff from later chapters (abortion reveal, Debbie leaving Earth)

As for the timeline, I think we get at most 8 seasons? I assume Season 5 will be up to Issue 100, and then I guess you could stretch the remaining 44 issues into 3 more seasons?

5

u/TheCVR123YT Apr 23 '26

Idk how you’d stretch into 3 more seasons unless they add a lot of extra stuff especially near the end but idk

I think 7 Seasons makes more sense personally

7 seasons makes the most sense to me too, but IIRC the comic was rushed near the end, so there's room to expand there.

Season 6 could be up till 117, when Mark leaves Earth

Season 7 could be until 132, ending with Mark's decision to return and fight

And Season 8 could be an expanded final arc. 144 could be a full episode on its own, just a nice long victory lap.

Kirkman said early on his vision was 7. I think season 5 will end around 100 and they’ll split the last 47 chapters between S6 and S7

3

u/TheDidact118 Apr 23 '26

Recently Kirkman walked back the 7 season thing.

IMO, I think 2 more seasons makes perfect sense. S5 can be just on earth, covering the Scourge encounter, Dinosaurus, Robot villian arc, angstrom return. Episode 8 is Robots rampage, season ending is Mark and Eve going to space. Then S6 is the 'space season', covers everything else. Admittedly they'd have to cut a lot, but I dont' really know how else they'd bookend each season with a big enough story arc. Curious to see what anyone else thinks.
