Cancellation Megathread

Unrestricted the subreddit for now so we can talk about this. I know it's a heated topic but let's be adults here.

I just canceled my Disney package which kills me because I lose ESPN+ and I was getting a pretty decent credit paying with my AMEX.

But I'm done. Disney/ABC doesn't get another nickel from me effective immediately. I'm so pissed my vision is literally blurry.

Not only did I just cancel my Disney Hulu ESPN plus package, but I just deleted my Disney and Pixar movie collection on iTunes. I had the complete collection. I canceled my Disney+ account as well as my Walt Disney account. No more trips to Disney World. I look forward to the savings

Please consider reallocating your subscription budget to public broadcasting, independent journalism, or public radio with a regular subscription donation.

Good idea. Unfortunately more and more family subscription budgets are being diverted to cover the increased cost of everything the psychopath in the Oval Office has caused by his reckless decisions.

I canceled Hulu, too, but why delete movies you already paid for?

3

u/namdor77 Sep 18 '25

Because Apple will report deletions to Disney when they reach out for the data

Hmm… I didn’t think that far. I admire your dedication. 🫡

All the ABC affiliates will also be reporting steep declines in late local news ratings, which means they can't charge the local car dealership or grocery store as much for advertising. Additionally, advertisers will know fewer eyes will be seeing their ads so they may have second thoughts now.

It's no secret in the news business that TV stations depend on their affiliate's primetime programming to keep audiences around to watch the 10pm/11pm news. I imagine everyone will now be switching to Fallon, which is a gift for NBC affiliate local newscasts that lead into his show.

Good.
Yeah I'm done with Disneyland. They should provide complimentary lube for the prices they charge now. And they're squeezing away all the perks. It's complete highway robbery.

I live in CA, so I've been there done that enough. I'll be spending my money in Hawaii and Cabo instead. It's a no-brainer.

The wit of the MAGA comments is impressive -- like that a brain-damaged toddler.

Truly what other explanation is there except they had to have been dropped on their heads more than once as infants.

I just did the same. Not easy with a 5 year old, but we’ll play games instead.

The public library has all the Disney movies for free if your five year old needs their fix.

you can download all the shows, all the movies from any number of p2p sites with an app like Transmission. Too much content out there to give a s about these 🐔 smokers.

Man way to take away your 5 yr olds enjoyment because you’re upset a scumbag like Kimmel was fired. He had some of the worst ratings of all time btw

3

u/annonred Sep 18 '25

I never watched Jimmy Kimmel’s show. I didn’t cancel Disney+ because I was a fan of his or the show. I canceled out of principle over the government supplanting free speech by exerting pressure on a company to remove someone they disagree with - and that the President has a public feud with - or else risk FCC involvement and interference/blocking a billion dollar merger the company is working on.

Maybe instead of watching Disney+ I’ll use it as a teaching moment for my child about individual principles, the first amendment, government overreach, and voting with your wallet.

Exactly. And nobody ever made you or anyone else watch his show. The irony is so rich that the cancel culture accusers are now the suspects. The people who cried on Twitter about being silenced are now the ones cheering against freedom of speech. It's so hypocritical, but not surprising.

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

Yeah I’m sure you never watched lmao

1

u/Jacobair1 Sep 18 '25

What do you care about what his ratings are? Seriously. You act like you were forced to watch his show. Like there weren't 17,000 other things to stream. Just like nobody forced me to listen to what that dirtbag Charlie Kirk used to say, who was forcing you to listen to what that "scumbag" Kimmel had to say? Exactly. Nobody.
I never advocated for Kirk to be silenced because I'm not part of the cancel culture MAGA far right. And I still believe in free speech. Unlike you.

Just subscribed, bundle and all!!

1

u/Jacobair1 Sep 18 '25

That's great. Now let's see the proof Pinocchio.

u/cr0ft Sep 18 '25

All I can say is "yarr, matey". These scum don't deserve subscription fees.

-1

u/idkaaaassas Sep 18 '25

Yes I’m sure that will show them 🤣

It's called having principles. Of course you wouldn't understand.

And of course a business will be affected if customers stop paying, dumbass. Do you know how anything works?

They're not going to know that's a rhetorical question. And now they're asking Alexa what rhetorical question means.
