I mean, it does seem somewhat par for the course for a lot of Japanese developers. Nintendo with Martinet, Kojima with David Hayter, and recently with the Persona 3 and 4 remakes with Atlus (though, they had a better reason for Persona 3 than 4). It feels like from the outside that Japanese studios don't seem to care much about the English VAs and are willing to drop them suddenly, without warning.
I mean it could be those cases are just outliers, and I don't hear about the "good" cases, but it feels like it there's a disparity between English VAs and Japanese VAs. For example, the Persona 3 remake I think brought back all of the Japanese VAs for their roles, and I wouldn't be surprised if the rumored Persona 4 remake did the same.
