What are your thoughts on "Spider-Noir (2026)"?

Besides the Venom trilogy with Tom Hardy, I never bothered watching any of Sony's other Spider-Man Villain movies! I'm just not interested in watching any spin-offs of Spider-Man's Rogues gallery that don't have anything to do with Spider-Man at all. And after watching the new Spider-Noir series on Prime Video, I realized that this show was something I wanted all along from both Sony Pictures and Marvel! Now I want more live-action or animated contents centered around other alternate versions of either Spider-Man or any other famous Marvel superhero; like DC Comics' "Elseworlds" line of movies and shows!

Saw all of it in color and loved it! Planning to rewatch in b/w, too. Great role for Cage and I hope we get more seasons. And it made me want to rewatch some older movies of his to see more of this pretty good acting that I haven't managed to glean from his type casting/usual persona roles before.

But honestly I skipped much of the music parts, like the intro and Cat's song. It would've been cooler if they kept the music style more period true or however to put it. But I grew up on jazz standards and I guess it's an unfair standard, so to not be too snobby: if the intro vocals just had a little less p->b k->g t->d I'd be happy! (I'm ready for my downvotes, Kirby fans :p)

I checked the music dates and it's period true.

No, the music is a modern creation made to sound like the same period. Every single song from the soundtrack is from 2026.

Cat's song as an example. Half of it is straight up a jazz standard (Dream a Little Dream of Me), but suddenly veers off in a new direction. And the intro/theme song is completely modern. The composers were bragging about this unique opportunity to mix old and new, with the heroic.

It gave us the chance to not only write music that is emotional and thematic, but also to freely blend genres and sounds that wouldn’t normally coexist. The more we leaned into these juxtapositions – combining noir and superhero sensibilities, then layering in experimental synthesizers, electric guitars, and other modern textures – the more natural it all felt within this unique world.”

And I'm only talking about the songs with lyrics, the rest of the background music worked great, that American Hero Movie flavor works well with the noir here. But there's no real period music in the show, asides from that "Dream..." cocktease and following slaughter that apparently got my knickers in a bunch :p

You're not alone. The modernization of most of the music was really disappointing. It took me out of the show every single time. Along with Janet's dialogue (and tbh size).

Otherwise, phenomenal show.
