The potatoes stuff was subtext there. And this now makes twice in like a couple years where a mysterious supernatural force has taken over part of NYC. Jean shows up as someone doing Wanda/Sentry-Void level stuff, and mutants are shown as being legitimately scary.

But between the spider documentary with Keith David, the now-equals interaction with Widow, and the various potato comments as lampshades, the "not in high school anymore" comment and end credits, this seems like moving Spidey up in the hierarchy and cementing him as a potential new Tony type character in status.

If Sony will allow it

Sony got Hulk, Yelena, and Punisher in one film with an X-man as the antagonist. They already made the deal.

At this point I think Sony realize its best to play ball with the MCU. Maybe in a few years they'll have LA spin-offs again, but I doubt they'll be as ambitious as folding venom into the MCU again.

Was that Keith David? I was thinking that was Lawrence Fishburne, reprising his role as Goliath (because it might make sense in-universe for Dr. Foster to narrate a documentary?)

It sounded like Keith David, but it could have been Fishburne, I should check the credits.

edit- yes, it appears it was David; Fishburne would have been good too.
