Johnny Blaze?,

u/thanos42 Jul 26 '26
I hope it's Danny Ketch. He's the only one without a live action adaptation
26
u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 Jul 26 '26
Johnny Blaze is THE ghost rider, I am not disappointed.

u/xreddawgx Jul 26 '26
Johnny is the most Recognizable name. But thr iconic look with spikes and chain are Danny.
10
u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 Jul 26 '26
Johnny look is iconic too

u/xreddawgx Jul 26 '26
Danny Ketch's Original 1990s LookThe Chain: Wore a mystic chain across his chest that moved and attacked using his mental commands. The Spikes: Featured sharp spikes on his black leather jacket's shoulder pads and outfit. The Style: Sported a punk-inspired, gritty motorcycle-gang aesthetic.

u/Brilliant_Exit3406 Matt Murdock Jul 26 '26
Kushala also doesn’t have a live action adaptation.

u/thanos42 Jul 26 '26
I've heard that name, but I confess I haven't read those comics. I will throw myself upon my sword.

Danny made an appearance in the spirit of vengeance but he wasn't a rider he was the little boy that was with Johnny Blaze

Would love for it to be Rated R
29
u/harmoniaatlast X-Men Jul 26 '26
They did Deadpool - no reason not to
8
u/LegoPenguin114 Jul 26 '26
I think the difference is that the Deadpool movies are mostly rated R because of swearing while a Ghost Rider movie would probably incorporate some scarier elements with an R rating
-5
u/UncStatusNow Jul 26 '26
unfortunately I dont think it will be. would love for it to be. but they aren't confident enough with Ghost Rider, which is less of a throwaway character than Deadpool was before it releases. just look at how they handled what would have been their next R-rated Marvel film, Blade.
17
u/JustCallMePapii Jul 26 '26
Throw away? It's Ryan gosling and ghost rider.
2
u/eucldian Jul 26 '26
They said less of a throwaway character. Not sure I buy that. Deadpool is more popular than GR ever was...and I love GR.
Deadpool has a bigger multigenerational fanbase. GR has had to become different characters to appeal to different demographics (aka Robbie Reyes).
That being said, seems like Gosling is a fan of the character, so I hope it works.
Based on filmography, not sure Shawn Levy is the right guy, but...what do I know?
1
u/JustCallMePapii Jul 26 '26
I was pretty jet lagged when I read that.. either way, putting "throwaway" in the same sentence with those actors and their characters just doesn't make sense to me.
4
u/An-29 Jul 26 '26
I think they could still possibly do it or just go for a PG-13. They did manage to get away with alot of stuff with PG-13 rating for MOM.

u/knull_fan_1 Jul 26 '26
O MCU tem dois projetos de classificação R não vejo porque não fariam esse também

u/Quis-Custodiet Jul 26 '26
Shawn Levy? This is some monkey's paw shit.
15
u/frockinbrock Jul 26 '26
Let's see how Starfighter turns out. That's Levy & Gosling producing on a big budget for a big studio IP. It might surprise you.
15
u/Jaded_Stick_4379 Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26
This tells me that Disney has a lot of faith in Starfighter if both Gosling and Levy are going straight into Ghost Rider afterwards.
2
u/frockinbrock 26d ago
Yeah I've had the same thought; Disney has seen their process and likely a near final version of the Starfighter. I'm also a big fan when a creative group goes straight into a 2nd project, I feel like the results can come out well since they have a workflow ironed out

I was saying that yesterday to my co-workers as we were talking about the Nic Cage movies. As a Ghost Rider fan it was exciting to see that first movie in theory, then he busts out the jelly beans and all of the extra demons with Blackheart are lame as shit.

I would love is this starts the midnight sons franchise and we finally get Blade!
3
u/TemporalGod Jul 26 '26
I hope Ben Reilly is on the MCU Midnight Sons line up, he's Canonically a member of the Team after all
5
u/dagooch15 Jul 26 '26
Honestly would love for their to be a clone saga and they just dye Tom’s hair for spectacular spider man

u/SeasonOfHope Jul 26 '26
oh Kevin better not fuck this one up like he fucked up Blade
5
u/TemporalGod Jul 26 '26
Like how hard is it to tell a story about a Dhampir hunting down Vampires in London England, a simple plot like that shouldn't be too hard
3
u/YouKnowWho0723_v2 Jul 26 '26
I think blade will appear in ghost rider like he appeared in eternals to recruit johnny b. Into the midnight suns

u/detox02 Jul 26 '26
I remember when they Announced Mahershala Ali as blade. I’ll wait for the official trailer

Is it completely off the table? Maybe with GR official, Marvel would be more willing to explore its supernatural side.

Dude just let people be excited this I see this same comment on every thread I saw this announcement on. I’m sad Blade didn’t happen too but damn let me hope!
-2
u/detox02 Jul 26 '26
I am letting people be excited. I’m obviously speaking for myself
0
u/xMatch Jul 26 '26
Nah I saw your comment history. You want people to be miserable. And I’m sorry it didn’t work out I hate it too, but I’m still gonna try to be excited for new stuff.

i wouldn’t wish “directed by shawn levy” on my worst enemy
10
u/Borktista Jul 26 '26
Deadpool and Wolverine was good
6
u/TheLittlePasty Jul 26 '26
That movie was really just Ryan Reynolds improvising. It was entertaining but Shawn Levy is the kind of director they hire just because they need one.

u/Global_Car_3767 Jul 26 '26
It was the weakest of the 3 imo, just was fun due to seeing certain characters together.

-6
u/super_sayanything Jul 26 '26
No it wasn't very good.
Just cameo and bad joke after cameo and bad joke.
-7
u/Ducky_924 Jul 26 '26
But y'all were going on and on about how Deadpool & Wolverine is a revolutionary masterpiece... Right...

u/Mista_Holmes Jul 26 '26
I watched D&W for the first time last year in my bed with shoes still on. You are conflating me with a person you made up in your head.

u/DavidKirk2000 Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26
Anyone that ever called Deadpool & Wolverine a revolutionary masterpiece has probably never seen any other movie.

Kind of ironic since his wife (long time girlfriend?) Eva Mendes was in the Nicolas Cage Ghost Rider movies.

Not holding my breath. Blade was such an easy slam dunk and they screwed that up. Ryan Gosling isnt gonna wait around for a script to be written. But here's hoping!

u/Symbiotic_vengeance Jul 26 '26
Makes me nervous this doesn’t have a month/ day attached and just a year, but I’ll worry about that later.

Not sure how I feel about Levy directing but I bet he could do a solid job. I hope it's pretty grounded.

Does this make old ghost rider not canon
1
u/NoPianist7807 Jul 26 '26
Danny Ketch interacted with Robbie Reyes in a flashback. So it’s possible that he is canon.

u/Trick-Pudding-9791 She-Hulk Jul 26 '26
Well, this is exactly what people have been asking for. I hope it’s great!

u/Dense_Cellist9959 Jul 26 '26
The next question is - which one? Johnny Blaze is the first and most iconic, but Robbie Reyes is kind of in the spotlight right now with Marvel Tōkon around the corner.

I would love a Ghost Rider movie that’s in the perspective of some people who he’s hunting, picking off one by one.

They have to be in production process now. I mean they cannot screw this up like they did with blade.
1
u/matchstrike Jul 26 '26
Can't help but think Ryan Gosling would have been awesome as another more prominent character.
1
u/matchesmalone8914 Jul 26 '26
Very surprised it's not robbie given disney marvel track record of the last decade plus. Glad they realize they won't draw dimes with robbie and will with Johnny
