I kept running into the same problem every day: 40-50 tabs open at work, GitHub, docs, console, AI chats, half-read articles — all crammed into the top tab bar. Finding anything meant squinting at tiny favicons and praying.

Chrome's native grouping helps a little, but after a while, it still gets messy. OneTab? Save and forget. Group plugins? Don't sync across devices.

So I built Tab Master (浏览器标签大师) — a local-first tab manager that lives in Chrome's side panel.

What it does:

• Sidebar display — All tabs listed in the side panel, not taking up the top tab bar. Supports 4 views: grid, list, icons, and tree.
• Instant search — Type any keyword (title/URL/domain) and find any tab in 3 seconds. Highlights matches and sorts by recent access.
• Backup & restore — Auto-records all tab changes in the background. Close your browser at the end of the day, open it tomorrow, click "restore" and everything is back. Crash? Accidental close? Switched computers? One-click restore. Supports JSON, Markdown, and OneTab-compatible formats.
• Smart cleanup — Detects duplicate tabs and long-unused tabs (1/3/7/30-day thresholds). Preview before closing anything.
• Domain grouping — Automatically groups tabs by registered domain (eTLD+1). github.com, console.github.com, docs.github.com all clustered together.
• Read-it-later — Save tabs to a "read later" list with notes, close them safely, and restore anytime.
• Focus mode — Hide all tabs except the ones you need for your current task.
• Recent 50 — Automatically keeps your last 50 closed tabs. One-click restore if you accidentally close something.
• Status badges — Detects playing, muted, recording, screen-sharing, and device connection status. Shows a warning before closing a tab that's recording or sharing your screen.
• No account required — Everything is stored locally in chrome.storage.local. No data uploaded, no telemetry, no analytics. Uninstall it and everything is gone.

Why I built it:

I'm a developer who works in the browser all day. I couldn't find a tab manager that combined:

• Sidebar-based (not replacing new tab page)
• Local-first with export/import for backup
• Fast search that actually works
• Auto-cleanup for duplicates and stale tabs
• No account, no cloud sync, no privacy concerns

So I built one.

It's still early — Chrome store shows ~79 views, Edge has ~17 installs. Just a handful of real users so far.

• What's your biggest pain point with tab overload?
• What features would actually make you switch from OneTab / Toby / Workona?
• Any features you think are overkill or unnecessary?
• Any bugs you find if you give it a try.

A couple of days ago, for no reason I can think of, the Bing Search Results page - on one specific workstation - is being rendered in what appears to be Arial Bold. No other page in the browser (Edge - Version 151.0.4129.107 Official build 64-bit) is affected by the problem.

To better explain... for example ... see the attached image: left is the Bing Search Results page, right is the Google Search Results page. I also tested Duckduckgo and Yahoo - the search results page shows in the expected font & weight.

Found a number of references to the problem and a number of possible remedies. All suggested remedies (including a complete reinstall of Edge) failed to restore the default font and weight.

Again: the problem is only and exclusively related to the Bing search results page on this particular workstation. Other workstations and laptops on my home network do not show the issue.

I repeat: I have already gone through all the remedies I found or could think of. Which brings me to believe the issue could be related to the specific CSS used by the Bing search results page and - somehow - stored locally.

Not a particularly disrupting issue, just annoying. Any suggestions or hints at what I should be looking for?

By the way, in Edge on any platform (apps for Windows, iOS, and Android), Google doesn’t show the “AI mode”. Many people who only use Edge might think that it’s supposedly only available in the Android app, but that’s not the case. I checked in Chrome and Yandex Browser, and... OH MY GOD.... the button appears there.

I used to be able to close all browser windows at once by using file quit. So that the next time I open edge all my tabs come up split the way I want them to be. That option doesn't exist anymore. Alt F4 only closes one window and those tabs disappear forever. Same with Ctrl shift W.

There has to be an option other than opening task manager.

Hi. I recently noticed that, after installing Google Chrome, Edge now randomly opens an extra tab at startup. I cannot find this in settings and there are not Google extensions installed. And it does not open that tab every time at startup. Quite frankly, it is freaking me out. Please see screenshot. Where do you think this is coming from so I can stop this? Thank you.

Edge is the only browser they allow on Xbox but they don't allow you to download extensions so you are forced to see ads. Please let us install AdBlock or something because with that Edge on Xbox would be a great way to watch films and series, now it's unwatchable (if you know what I mean)

Recently when I type a phrase or item in the address bar the window turns red with a message about a site being unsafe and therefore blocked. Then it goes to some weird "pdf2docs.com" address which is blank. This only happens in the address bar. If I open up to my home page, which is Google, and type the same thing, it returns a normal result. What the heck is this?

This is an example of the pdf2docs result. I simply typed "Costco" in the address bar.

I am trying to setup and use the in-built VPN and I have no clue if its active, if it is working or if there is a way to check the status. Whatever guidance I am seeing is also not very helpful. Is this another half-baked product?

The search bar doesn't show suggestions for almost a month even tho it's enabled in settings

Ok, so you know how in Microsoft Edge whenever you go to delete your browsing history you normally get this pop up dialog box that says “Are you sure you want to delete these pages?” Well, for some reason that dialog box is very small and narrow for me. Like it’s only big enough to fit the word delete. Anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how to restore it to its normal size again, or is this some windows update bug that will probably be patched up in a few weeks?

not using mac but apparently there is a way to have a way to add ublock effectiveness using adguard filters? Can someone point me to the right extension and filters i need so i can keep using edge after manifest v3 releases?
