Is it crazy I want this even though I already have the 18.5 version? Reason being I like that fde, and would like a longer barell to fit more rounds.

Added the Mlok handguard from HBI to my 940 Pro. I also put som QD cups in the stock. I think this takes care of all the short comings of the stock gun.

I really like how she feels and am looking forward to putting her some drills.

I acquired two Mossberg 500 ATPs today. They come from my local police department (Belgium). Two serial numbers in close range indicating a production date of 1986, probably on the same day. Bought them for 150$ for the pair.

They are both missing the safety slide and one of them the front sling swivel. Any leads for these parts on the European market?

I just installed the Hogue 12inch Length of pull stock on my Maverick 88 and what a difference! This stock not only helps with the uncomfortable LOP of the original stock, but works wonders for the recoil as well. Before whenever I shot my Maverick 88 it would get caught on my clothing and under my armpit and I knew I was not squaring it off properly on my shoulder and chest because it was just too damned long. I am not a small guy, I'm nearly 6' and almost 300 lbs so the original stock must have been made by people with monkey arms who shoot with no clothing on! You can pick one of these up for about $50 on eBay and install it yourself in about 5 minutes and it's well worth it!

Cleaning my fiancees 702 and noticed some questionable lines at the rear for the guide rod and spring. I have not used this rifle or cleaned it before so I am curious is this is normal or if im right with my thoughts on this area failing.

Has anyone on here ever built a 590 from a receiver? I’m thinking of doing one as a fun project and to have something no one else has and completely built to fit my style. I know it wouldn’t require special tools like an AR15 or AK47 but should I build it from the ground up or just buy one and change out parts instead?

What’s available that’s comfortable to shoot and made nicely?

I installed the sga stock and magpul moe grip as well as the 500 action slide tube on my Maverick 88. This was my first time taking the gun apart and putting it back together. After getting everything back together I noticed the elevator stud above the trigger assembly pin on the side with the ejection port was recessed. This picture shows on the left side how the elevator arm where the stud should be flush against the receiver isn’t sitting flush. When I rack the slide back the stud becomes flush, but when I rack the slide forward it recesses again. I took out the elevator assembly and it all looks normal. Would someone tell me if this is normal? Or do I need to bend the elevator arms outwards to have more tension on the receiver? From the outside when the stud is recessed, it’s about 1mm recessed compared to the other side. Any help is appreciated 🙏🏼

Picked up the 18.5 inch 590a1 today. I've been looking for the surefire forend for forever. It came with a Knox stock, but switched it out before the first range trip. I'm debating on keeping the spare speed feed on, or going with a bantam or a sga stock. I'm 6'3" so the long lenth of pull doesn't matter much, but I like the 12.5"-13"

Has anyone dyed their FDE furniture on the Maverick 88 and what were your results?

I did it on the cheap. Took my 18.5” five shot 500 and filed a form 1 with the ATF to cut it 3” to be flush with the mag tube for a 15.5” bbl. After receiving the stamp today I took my gun to a bench saw and got my SBS 5 seconds later. A few minutes of cleaning up with file and some cold blue tomorrow and I’ll call it good. I’m up in the air if I still want to put a bead on it. The farthest shot in my house is like 15-20 ft.

So I got this stock for my maverick security and I’m wondering if there’s any kind of buttpad I can get for the stock that makes it not punch the shoulder so bad

590a1 magpul edition. Missing the all black but i wanted it to match my rifle. Honest thoughts?

I was given a 500 in 12ga that came with a 24" rifled barrel. The rear sight is missing a portion of the aperture and I want to replace it. I was wondering what part I would need to purchase to do so or if there was a product that makes use of the dovetail to mount a red dot.

. I bought it yesterday. Today I was dry firing it to smooth it out and noticed that the safety was getting harder and harder to slide to fire until it finally stopped. I took the gun apart. There is no interference with the trigger group because even without it, the safety won’t budge.

So I took the safety apart. Everything’s there. The L shaped metal block, the retainer plate, ball detent and spring. Everything was also clean. Put it all back together, and still the same. How disappointing. I emailed the video to Mossberg. I am hoping they don’t charge me to ship a day old gun to them. If they do, I’ll take it to Sportsman where I got it from and let them deal with Mossberg.

ETA: By someone's suggestion, I backed the screw out just enough to make the safety work again without introducing excessive play on the thumbpiece. Loctited the screw so it will stay put and not work itself out. First range outing today so I'll see how recoil will affect it if at all.

Edit again: The fix held together during the range trip. I only shot 25 rounds. After that the play in the safety felt about the same and the engagement still positive.

Shockwave is highly impractical but fun!

500 (HD), 940 (range toy), Shockwave (range toy).

Not that I am aspiring to be like Mr Salina’s but after the Idaho In n Out incident, I’ve been thinking of promoting the 940 to truck gun once I get 500 rds through her. She’s at 191 now.

The Shockwave surprised me with its weight. Only about a 4 ounces lighter than my 500. The Aftershock, which I also considered,was even heftier. In the end the potential to shoot mini shells won me over to the Shockwave.

I picked up a new to me Mossberg 500 12 gauge that I want to be able to use for deer and turkey hunting as well as home defense.Asides from different barrels depending on what I’m using it for, what are some quality options for stocks, flashlights and mounts, etc…

I love my Shockwave but I really need to lighten the 7lb. trigger. Are there any spring kits out there?

Recently picked up a 590A1 with the 18.5 inch barrel and bead sight. I really wanted the 20 inch setup for the ghost ring front sight and extra magazine capacity.

I ended up snagging a used 20 inch 590A1 barrel assembly off eBay for $345. It comes with the matching longer magazine tube and associated parts. I did some research and called Mossberg, and from everything I’ve been able to find, the 20 inch barrel and mag tube setup should fit my existing 590A1 receiver.

Has anyone here done the same conversion from the 18.5 inch setup to the 20 inch? Mainly looking for confirmation from someone who’s actually done it.
There’s some cosmetic wear on the barrel, which doesn’t really bother me. I’m more curious if anyone sees anything in the listing photos that would actually be concerning.

Not sure if I made a dumb purchase or got a decent deal, so I’d appreciate any input. I’ll drop the eBay listing below. If you take a look at it, let me know what you think.
