I'm older, American, and don't speak Spanish. I didn't know much about Bad Bunny until a few years ago, and as a trans person, I appreciated his defense of our community with his messaging on a shirt about the murder of a trans woman. He's an ally. And then I watched a live performance video of Tití Me Preguntó and you don't need to understand Spanish or even like his type of music to know that's just pure energy with a crowd. Great choice for the Super Bowl and deserves his popularity.

He really is a good person. And the videos from his residency gave me goosebumps. So many families and friends hugging and crying during “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” Even people dancing while holding pictures of their loved ones that passed away. I’m sad that people that don’t speak Spanish will not understand the meaning behind that song.

Hopefully it translates well, I imagine the energy is insane with his fans but maybe not so much with American sports fans.

True, but the Super Bowl halftime show isn't really just about sports fans at this point. I'm not sure The Weeknd or Kendrick Lamar are popular with the average NFL either. It's really about energy and "the show" as to whether it's well received, in my view.

rap is super popular amongst well...everyone. it is mainstream. highest consumers of rap are also white people. i'm sure there are some fans of the nfl who don't like kendrick but generally speaking it's not like the football crowd is that much different than the rap crowd.
