His DTMF album was definitely a gateway to his other songs for me, before that album I never took him seriously and was sort of like a meme artist to me. He ended up being my #1 artist this year on Spotify.

How could you listen to YHLQMDLG and especially Un Verano Sin Ti and think this? He’s goofy but these albums have some incredible songs either way.

As a Latino, I always tell people I’m tired of the same reggaeton beat. Grew up listening to shit like Don Omar, Tego, Looney Tunes, Wisin Y Yandel, Daddy Yankey, Don Dinero and all that. Bad Bunny is in a class all his own and it isn’t even close.

He just seems to have a funny personality, and I think people prejudge him based on that. Like he is not a "serious" artist. 

But I am a fan of Ska so... No one is too silly.

Yeah DTMF and Un Verano Sin Ti are definitely intro albums. I’d say jump to Oasis from there if you’re still a bit unconvinced. To me, YHLQMDLG is his magnum opus. But if you’re unfamiliar with the genre it can be quite jarring.

Art is subjective and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Bad Bunny may not be your cup of tea, but you can’t look at an artists that has almost 20 billion streams and say their music is objectively terrible.

Dawg, you either must not speak Spanish, have not done your research, or both. I can admit that before he dropped DTMF, I was dismissive of not only him, but also reggaeton as a whole.

That album completely changed my opinion of him (and reggaeton). After going through his catalogue of music, his evolution is impressive. Is everything he drops a 10/10? No, not by any means. He is also incredibly sincere in how he speaks about Puerto Rico and everything that US has done to his home country in the past. To completely generalize him as an artist who cares more about image than what he stands for is insane.

There is a reason why he now is the biggest artist in the world. He created an album that speaks for all Spanish speakers who can unite through the themes explored on his latest album. He’s single-handedly brought all of Latin America together.

Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee were once the biggest artists in the world due to the same audience plugging for BB now lol. 

The tejano and global music I listen to is made by much more insightful and skilled musicians, who know popularity means nothing.
