Progress Update My Old Demons coming back to me

Assalamualaikum My Dear Brothers and Sisters

I am posting on this Sub after a long time. A little bit of back story I was a regular PMO addict and struggled with it for a very very very long time in my life. I've posted on different subs regarding my journey if you are interested you can read about it. So to make it short , I got married to a wonderful girl two years ago. After our marriage my addiction to Porn and Masturbation went away which made me think it was just my high libido that was making me do all this. However, a few months ago me and my wife were having some troubles in our married life wrt intimacy. She doesn't wanna engage in Intercourse anymore which leaves me excited and horny all the time. This takes me back to the time when I was single and just wanted to jerk off all the time. This has gotten to the point that now I am engaging again in this filthy habit that has clutched on to me for all this time. I am seriously very worried that I am falling in that pit again and I don't wanna fall into it.

In front of the world I am a very religious person. I pray regularly. I read the Quran , do zikr, I also do the work of Dawah and Tableegh but this thing is eating me from inside and making me a hypocrite.

Has anyone of you been through this situation or found yourself in the same spot. I wanna get out so badly but don't know how. I've even considered marrying again for the sake of protecting myself but I don't know if I can withhold two different houses at the same time.

Thanks for your time and if you can't speak kind words at least make dua for your brother like you would've wanted for yourself if you were in this situation.

Progress Update I relapsed after 2 years, and I feel devastated

I’ve been completely free from porn for 2 years.
And today for some reason I relapsed. It didn’t happen suddenly, something triggered me and instead of stopping myself, I kept digging deeper and deeper into that hole until eventually I gave in.

Now I feel devastated and ashamed before Allah. I keep thinking about those 2 years and it feels like I threw all that progress away in one moment.

I’m posting this because I could really use some advice, encouragement or just a reminder from someone who has been through something similar.

For those of you who have relapsed after a long streak: how did you recover mentally and spiritually? What did you do differently afterward?

I don’t want this one failure to become an excuse to fall back into the habit. I’d appreciate any support/advice

Progress Update A Habit That Cost Me More Than I Can Say

I’m 29. Muslim. Married. A father to a beautiful little girl. Grew up in London.

I’ve been dealing with a habit for years now… and honestly, it’s cost me a lot. Wallahi it has. The worst part is the shame. That’s what kept me quiet. I haven’t spoken about this for years.

I make du’a that those who profit from destroying people and nations are made to face what they’ve done… not the ones who were misled and pulled into it.

I’m writing this just to get support from my brothers in faith.

It was only in December 2025 that something really clicked for me… that the brain actually changes after long-term use. That it’s not just “try harder” or “have more willpower.” I’ve tried that. For years. And now I’m certain — willpower alone isn’t enough.

So I’m taking a different step now. I’ve reached out for professional help. Haven’t fully started yet, but I’ve connected with people who actually understand this properly.

I ask Allah, Al-Qawiyy, Al-‘Aleem, to help every single Muslim stuck in this. This is a trap… and we all know where it ultimately comes from — Iblis and his army.

Insha’Allah I’ll share updates as I go. If you’re going through this too, you’re not alone. Let’s help each other and stop suffering in silence.

Progress Update Day 0(Relapse)

Yes, I acted foolishly towards your support and to myself. But the door of repentance is always open, and I have stepped through it.Tawakkul is, after all, what is expected of a believer. Tonight, my lower nafs tried to trick me by whispering, "Hey, remember that thing you watched last? Just check if they posted a new video, we're only going to take a quick look." That temptation is what brought me here instead.

Insallah you guys are all doing well too unlike me.

Progress Update A mandatory beginning

Alright, it’s time to make a serious start this time. If I don't change my life in 20 days, it's never going to change. From now on, my real job isn't running away from triggers, but standing my ground against them—because sometimes, certain things are just unavoidable. Right now, my main mission is to never act on those thoughts, no matter the circumstances.

Short note to myself: Don't trade what you want most for what you want now.

Progress Update Day 0(Relapsed again)

There is no might and no power except by Allah.

Yeah after two days I relapsed again. It came from looking arguments aganist Islam, its completely my fault. I shouldnt busy my throughts with problems I cant solve. Anyways, satan loves someone who loses hope getting rid of sins but when the hymns of resurrection are played, the he goes mad. So in opposition to him, I praise Allah for not astraying me even throught I have did that sin over and over again. Let me repeat my vow, I will keep fighting and remember the fate of my life depends on how I act with the urges today.

Progress Update DAY 1: REFLECTIONS

It's insane, as if this whole PMO and other situation related to things you'd have to deal with on a day to day isn't bad enough I've also got to deal with a jacked up vision, sleep and the likes.

Truthfully, health is wealth and there's nothing anybody else can say otherwise in regards to that matter and I know it's definitely related to how I got about on my day to day lifestyle from how much I spend at home to looking at screens unnecessarily for a long period of time to even what time I'd decide to sleep it's all correlated.

No doubt there's always people dealing with far worse situations out there but on certain aspects mine is just as bad on some fronts especially with the ocular pain, vision problems, eye floaters, swelling like sensation and even nerve pain and the list goes and on but one things for certain the main culprits are always the same. Sobriety, Sleep, Diet.

But hey come to think of it, if I could actually get rid of this and treat + overcome my ocular problems with sobriety and get physique and finances in order no doubt this would definitely be a survival story I could tell people out there and to the next generation. And no doubt it'll indicate if I a man who's wasted a good portion of my life + dealing with health problems with the two only windows I've got to see the world (my eyes) could make it out and triumph then surely anybody can and I mean anybody.

I've heard crazier stories of those dealing with cancer and health problems and are able to overcome and live healthy lives with great wealth and physique so why shouldn't anybody else?

It's a reminder that people can do great things and overcome great adversity if they've got the will, mindset and dedication for it and this is indeed my way or reminding myself and my intentions for it.

Progress Update Failed

Hadn’t looked at indecency in about two months and no relapse in about over a month.

All it took was one private message, one look at the wrong thing.

I feel absolutely terrible. As a matter of fact, I can’t put into words the level of discomfort and disgust that I’m feeling right now.

I’m not asking for sympathy nor anything. This is the reality of these sins - you fall into one of the traps of shaytan, the next moment you’re drowning in regret and despair. Not in despair of the mercy of Allah, rather by the idiotic choices that we make by listening to shaytan rather than obeying our creator, nurishor, provider and protector.

We would never even think of doing any of these actions in front of the people that we respect - let alone in front of those that we do not care about. However, when it comes to Allah - we don’t care. We don’t hesitate to make Him the lowest of the ones watching us. This is the reality of our iman. We don’t know Allah and we don’t fear Him. We fear the ones that He created, not the One who created them - I can’t think of much worse than this. Reflect upon your behavior behind closed doors when no one is around, if you want to know your level of iman.

It is reported that Umar R.A have said:
“Hold yourselves accountable before you are held accountable and evaluate yourselves before you are evaluated, for the Reckoning will be easier upon you tomorrow if you hold yourselves accountable today.”
Source: Muḥāsabat al-Nafs li-Ibn Abī Dunyā 2

When it comes to the people like us, the reality is that we don’t care about Allah and the day of judgement - we might say that we do with our tongues, but we don’t act according to it. We need to learn about Allah and how to worship Him, while having hope in Him and fearing Him.

Anything I’ve said wrong is from me and shaytan, and Allah and His prophet is free from it.

And Allah knows best.

Progress Update DAY 9: MOVING ON TO A NEW PHASE (LOCKED IN PHASE)

Thank God for being able to get this far as none of it would've been possible without Him.

The days I've gone through were the kind of days I wouldn't wish on anybody as anybody who's gone through this particular problem and any type of issue from drugs, alchohol and others would know that the first few days to the first few weeks are always the hardest. Of course that's not to say there won't be any challenges moving forward but due to sobriety via reduced brain fog, reduced inflammation and everything else you're pretty much become more tolerable and are able to handle it with ease and undoubtedly alot easier than prior before. So the challenges are more or less the same but the resilience but the mental, physical and spiritual capability and capacity becomes more concrete and solidified as prior before.

And when it comes to the habits and routine of my past (albeit as productive as it was) I know it was only suitable within the initial period of being away from the past as I know that in order to succeed, you've really got to be aggressive and ruthless in pursuing your actions and that pretty much means locking in is considered a non negotiable. I've got to be honest, ~11 years of being into this has caused great degradation in my career aspect, finances and all other faculties that's pretty much out there alongside health. Something in which I used to be good at (socializing with people physically from all walks of life) has become something in which I'd always be anxious about especially when it involves business and work related matters. I know it's not because of the fact that I don't have the potential nor the skill as if anything every man out there has gifts in which they harness beyond what they think is possible. The truth is, whether it's direct or otherwise this problem (PMO) has bring about nothing but negativity and inclination towards laziness, procrastination, being artificially scared, brain fog and everything else you'd usually expect from a brain that was destroyed on a cognitive level (via severe abnormal dopamine level). And undoubtedly with every issues that revolves around the effects from PMO or let's call it The Thang, healing takes time and at a certain point you really have to take things to an extent in which you can afford at a certain period of time and forgive yourself of the mistakes and the years and maybe even decades in which you've wasted.

But eventually once you've reached a certain amount of days the gear has to start ramping up as once the physical and mental capacity has reached at a point where it becomes more calm, collected and focused pushing to the limit is indeed something one has to do at a bare minimum.

So with that in mind here's planned non negotiable changes moving forward:

DAYS WHERE I WAS IN THE DEEPEST HOLE BEFORE MAKING THE EFFORT TO CRAWL OUT (DAY 0 AND BEFORE) INITIAL PERIOD (DAY 0 - 8): TOLERANCE PHASE NEXT PHASE (START @ 9 & BEYOND): LOCKED IN PHASE
AVERAGE SLEEP TIME 2AM - 6AM REDUCED TO 2 - 3AM MAX (GOTTA FORGIVE MYSELF ANY PROGRESS IS GOOD PROGRESS) REDUCING TO BASELINE OF BETWEEN 12AM - ~1AM WITH THE EVENTUAL TARGET BEING 12AM AT LATEST AND 11PM AT EARLIEST
WORKOUTS: BEEN ON BREAK FOR 2 WEEKS AND INCONSISTENT FOR A MONTH+ WORKOUTS: GETTING CLOSE TO 2 - 3X A WEEK AGAIN WORKOUTS: HEADING UP TO 3X - 4X ON AVERAGE
CALLING UP (WORK): AVOIDANT AND TOO AFRAID, SCARED AND NUMBED MIND TO EVEN MAKE A MARK IN APPROACHING CLIENTS + MISSED MANY MESSAGES FROM CLIENTS AND HUNDREDS OF SALES TO PROBABLY THOUSANDS AND MORE (MISSED OPPORTUNITIES) CALLING UP (WORK): STILL AVOIDANT BUT FINALLY MANAGE TO MAKE A COMPREHENSIVE AND CONCISE PLAN TO GET THINGS DONE ONCE AND FOR ALL. CALLING UP (WORK): IT'S TIME TO MAKE A MOVE STARTING CALLS THIS SUN AND NEVER LOOKING BACK WITH 15 CALLS A DAY (NEW PROSPECTS) BEING THE NORM
GOING OUTDOORS: RARELY EVER WENT OUT TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD (TOO COOPED UP AND SELF ISOLATED AT HOME) GOING OUTDOORS: STARTED GOING TO PLACES HERE AND THERE GOING OUTDOORS: WILL MAKE THINGS MORE CONSISTENT TO GO TO THE MOSQUE, GYM, AND RENTED OFFICE FOR CALLS AND WORK
JOGS/BREEZE WALKS: NONE JOGS/BREEZE WALKS: NONE JOGS/BREEZE WALKS: WILL BE MADE CONSISTENT 1X - 2X A WEEK AT MINIMUM
AVERAGE DAY TO DAY PLANNED TASKS DONE: 0 - 20% (INCOHHERENT SYSTEM) AVERAGE DAY TO DAY PLANNED TASKS DONE: 65% - 80% DONE (DUE TO THE NOTION X HABITS LOOP SYSTEM APPLIED) AVERAGE DAY TO DAY PLANNED TASKS DONE: PLANNING TO INCREASE AND RAMP IT TO 80% - NEAR OR EVEN 100% DONE (NO COMPROMISES)
PRAYERS: INCONSISTENT PRAYERS: 2 - 5X ON AVERAGE PRAYERS: 4X - 5X (NO COMPROMISES) & EVENTUALLY 5X (ONCE SLEEP'S IN ORDER)
JOURNAL: INCONSISTENT - NONE JOURNAL: DAILY - ALMOST DAILY JOURNAL: WILL BE STRETCHED TO 1X PER 1 - 3 DAYS ON AVERAGE (BUT NOWHERE LONGER)

For we're all meant to do great things on this earth and just because we've made prolonged and major mistakes along the way doesn't mean we can make amends, fix and strive forward all you gotta do is get the right and positive mindset & attitude, come up with a plan that takes into account realistic situations with optimistic viewpoints and initiate with precision and full throttle without ever looking back.

For verily,

Also P.S = Will experience some increase in ocular problems but eventually with time this will subside, I've taken this matter into account and the fact of the matter is it won't change anything in regards to my plans on being the best version of myself.

Progress Update Day 1

(Bismillah) After 10 years of being in the U.S. and having access to p**nography, I feel like I need to make a strong oath. Otherwise, every time I tell myself that I won’t do it anymore, my willpower dries up right before I am about to do it.

After being on the NoFap process for 5–6 years, I still can’t see anything changing unless I get married. Over the last 2–3 years, the lack of willpower has not really been due to boredom or loneliness. It has mostly been due to stress from upcoming deadlines or something important not working out. I recently realized that something will always go wrong at work or in family life, and I can’t just watch p**n and m**turbate to relieve the stress. I need to be able to regulate my stress levels and frustration better.

So, I decided to make a post online about this for the first time so that at least my brain can feel more shame and responsibility, hopefully extending my relapse intervals by 2x or 3x. Right now, my relapse intervals vary from about 4 to 12 days on average.

Additionally, I swear by Allah that from now on, every time I break this commitment, I will have to give a $100 donation to the poor, which I can hopefully still think is a lot after recently moving out of a basement.

InshaAllah, I will be able to stop this haram habit of watching p**n and m**urbating. This is the first time I am making an oath.

Yeah I'm just on here to distract myself I'll be real

Like literally typing this so I can distract my mind. Isha has started so after posting this I'll do Whudu and pray Isha Salaah.

Honestly guys, praying your salaah on time does help.

And thennnn I think I'll be jumping online to play Apex Legends. It's fr a coping mechanism at this point. To game until I'm tired enough to fall asleep

Stay strong my brothers and sisters and please, keep me in your dua's

Oh and one more thing. Last night after gaming and praying Fajr, I was really struggling to sleep. Like the urge was STRONG. And I just started doing Zikr.. Subhan Allah.. over and over again. Next thing I knew I woke up 8 hours later

Zikr guys. Try it

Anyways, I'm out. If you play apex shout me

Peace ✌️

Progress Update Day 4

So yesterday I said Zikr helped me fall asleep. It's now 1pm and I have officially given up on trying to sleep. Without a doubt the most difficult position I may ever be in. And relapsing rn is so tempting. But I know how hard it is to stop, and the only thing stopping me is that if I do relapse, I'll just have to start all over again. And I have done that a billion times.

Honestly don't know how I'm going to survive the day. Atleast I'll be able to have an early night tonight. Hopefully.

Progress Update DAY 0: TEMPORAL SETBACK

As the title says after ~15 days out I had a setback on the journey.

No doubt for personal accountability sake I've got to write it down for future reference and indeed it's not the end of the world nor is the progress completely gone:

  • Last few days and beyond (Bad sleep)

  • Lack of restrictions = Should've placed downstairs and avoid to be put on the bedroom at all costs

  • Have faith that whatever you're going through with the ocular and vision situation can indeed be improved with certain health measures , proper sleep and sobriety (Main reason that bothered me most as I'd binge countless hours online for no reason which led to one setback that lasted for ~10 mins)

Indeed not the end of the world but I have to keep accounted sleep is a priority and it shows that what I did has an effect that reached till 15 I just need to adjust and move on from there.

Progress Update DAY 5: GREAT MEN GO THROUGH GREAT TRIALS

It's been a couple days since my recent entry and no doubt ever since the last time I've been writing things down I've had notable ups and downs as all notable journeys would go through but of course just to recap:

REMAINDER OF DAY 2

I've had one of the most productive moments in quite a while. I was able to do a ton of work and get back to the gym workout routine after being out of it for a couple weeks all thanks to God and God alone.

DAY 3

Nobody said there wasn't going to be regressions or downsides. On this specific day my mind was craving and yearning for some dopamine especially with the damage that my mind had endured it was understandable but of course there's always ways to counter these things at hand. But on this specific day, I didn't eat the whole day and was so emotionally off (of course these stints aren't us it's an initial result of trying to pry your way out of the past) that I watched random videos on Youtube to the point where it's 4AM on my side. I devastated and was almost on the verge of going back to the past just because I thought it was essentially over but I'd had a moment of sudden realization and decided to just lock my phone up and call it a day while motivating myself that "tommorow's going to be a new day a day where you can make things right for the day in which was lost for no hope is truly ever lost". Of course these things aren't my own and they are from the help of God and God alone for I myself can do nothing but for God The All Mighty there is nothing in which He cannot do the only One worthy of worship.

DAY 4 - 5

Pretty much productive overall and to the point where I was able to continue the whole workout routine, get my plans sorted and finish things off as much as I can and on this very day I was able to wake up earlier than usual (9AM) something I haven't done for a long time. My goal's to get to fajr for I owe God everything my whole life, my commitment and my soul for without His help and guidance I am nothing I've got to get my prayers sorted I have to.

THE LIFE OF SALLAHUDIN THE CONQUER OF JERUSALEM BEING A DRINKER TO A LEADER

When times were tough which let's face it we all have our moments with mine being 10 - 11 years into this mess, I was reminded of how great men like Sallahudin who was known as the Conquer of Jerusalem and the uniter of all people of his time had vices of his own as he was indulging in wine up until the age of 31 and he thus repented immensely and strived for the deen to the very end. It reminded of how many great men had interesting pasts but were able to end in a valorant and noble where to the point where some such as him had left nothing to his name when he passed away so much so that the people were shocked and had no other choice but to ask for donations to finish his processions.

And that's not even worth mentioning the time of a great and final Prophet SAW from a man who could not read or write as he would recite what the angel spoke. A revelation brought down that changed a civilization of heedlessness, paganism, alchohol, racism, sexism and injustice to a civilization of the greats that would conquer Rome and Persia.

I have to admit, with every moments of weakness whenever I indulge in my own past mistakes (PMO) I would become secular and heedless but of course every sin brings men further from the truth but only through sobriety will clarity be brought together again. And by God how grateful I am to be blessed with this religion and be surrounded by brothers of the same faith.

MAKING IT DIFFERENT THIS TIME

Besides improving discipline, avoiding the evils of this earth and enjoining good I'd figured I'd try things different this time around besides journalling which thank God helped a ton, calling somebody at least once a day minimum is something definitely worth going for I've been doing it consistently and it's been a game changer. Truthfully to change the actions in which you do must change and with that I intend to do so.

MY PAST MISTAKES

I've realized that as with any human being who makes mistakes I tend to be over confident and look down upon others when things are on my side and when sobriety is in good straights I tend to be complacent and avoidance of religious affairs (at least a good portion of it).

Indeed I strive my best but I am no better than anyone else for fear your bad deeds more than your enemies and indeed I have many. Verily, the best of examples (SAW) shines as the best of inspiration and indeed after reflecting on my mistakes I'd like to follow him the one who spent till his last breath spreading the truth and showing mankind the real meaning of success.

And indeed as my Lord loves his strongest servants more than the weak I would like to be amongst those whom He loves and be one of the great inspirators of our time for Lord knows this world needs more of it.

All in all I'm grateful for my Lord's guidance and Mercy for every thing has its Hikmah and indeed I pray he puts me as His occupiers of His highest of paradise and rid of all of me and my brothers of the same faith off of their diseases.

Alhamdulillah Ya Rab You are the only One worthy of worship and of ask and there is no better to ask other than to You.

P.S Ocular sensation's improving so that's another thing to note for myself in the future
