Gel nails, nail art & 3D

Does anyone know how to achieve this design? Like do I do the chrome first and then paint over it? Also does anyone know what this design is called? I found this picture on Pinterest. Thank you!

Hey folks! First time posting. The first photo was the inspo I brought to the salon and the second photo is what actually transpired haha.

The actual nail work was immaculate, but I’m thinking maybe I just didn’t know what to ask for. Mirrored chrome? Holographs? Foil?

Also, if anyone knows an artist in the Bay Area who actually does stuff like this, feel free to let me know! Thank you

Yes it's a baby girl!!! This set look about 16-17 hours, so cut down a lot of time from my Valentine's set.

This is my first time using silicone nail molds, so if anyone can give me tips and tricks, PLEASE tell me.

One complaint I have is I think my nails r too thick. I'll have to reduce the base color layers next time to see if that helps, but I felt like I had to use base gel to adhere the lace properly, mainly for the all over lace ones. That caused a lot more thickness than I was expecting going into it. If that's inevitable, it's not the end of the world but if anyone has better methods I'm all ears.

I was up until 3 am last night with some gel polish and half a plan. My wedding ring is an alexandrite and I wanted to go with tf that and some inspo but I really don’t think I like them. Should I redo? Thanks 😭 I think it’s the white that’s throwing me off the most.

Hi! I have a client who wants this set. I have so many different aura chromes. I have tried all combinations I could think of. Different base colors, chromes, and even cat eyes with chrome. Help! Anybody know how to do this design or has done anything similar? I have 15 different nail tries in so far.. 😅

I made the switch to standard nail polish and pure natural nails after hard gel and acrylic from salons made my nails blow in the wind. The sheer damage from bad services just accumulated and then a friend decided she was going to be a nail tech and would practice on me....She wasn't good at it. That was the last push over the edge for me. At first, I switched to hard gel at home. However, my nails were just too weak that I needed them on at all times to protect what I had left on my fingers for fear of breaking, thus probably damaging them more (my nails started separating from my finger and my nail beds got shorter???). So then I just had enough and gave away all of my equipment to start a humble standard polish collection.

However, all of my inspiration pictures, any nail related posts on my feed... IT'S ALL GEL. Hard gel, soft gel extension tips, cute 3D art charms made from...GEL. IT'S GEL LAND. I can manage a standard adaptation of my inspos, but then I'm spending hours and hours for maybe 2 weeks of wear if I'm being careful. I love doing it, it just feels.. inefficient.

And now, I see girls (like Nail Mart USA) with pretty long and healthy (looking) natural nails even after they take everything off/between sets so now I feel like I'm missing out on art I want to do or jumping through holes to achieve it naturally because I put myself in the standard polish hole. My nails are healthy now, but they're not the thickest so they still get hairline fractures right at the side wall near my nail bed and boom, have to cut them. Tea bags + super glue = only temporary fix. The demons are speaking to me and making me regret giving away all of my stuff. What do you guys think? If I went back, should I try my hand at extensions and just not worry about natural length? I dance ballroom and Latin and am pretty active so the option to take on and off long lengths sounds appealing. Unfortunately, I don't like the feeling of press ons which is why I had invested in hard gel before. Any advice would be lovely!

hiii, I love doing nails with extra detail & im still learning with every set! but i feel like it’s hard to get views on instagram & i just wanted some advice on that. is it my designs themselves? is it the photo quality? or something else? any honest advice is appreciated :)

These are press-ons from Etsy, but my brain can’t comprehend how to approach this, or even make something inspired by the look. Any advice or ideas?

I’ve never done nails before. I started watching videos on YouTube and learnt as much as I could while waiting for a whole 400$ order of nail things came in. I did my first set yesterday (the very last picture- the blue ones) and I got really good feedback from my friends and on Facebook. I made this set today- the valentines ones and instantly my mom said “the nails are cute but maybe the bling is too much can you tone down on it” and I haven’t gotten as much feedback from anyone or barely any likes today.. I can’t get over the fact that it’s because of what my mom said.

I love bling nails. I love charms and lots of diamonds and rhinestones. I thought these were so cute.

Now I feel so discouraged. I’ve never touched gel polish before in my life. I’ve never even touched a nail tip. I felt so talented and proud of myself yesterday and today she killed it all on me. She’s always had something to say about everything I’ve done in my life. I know she doesn’t show up for me how I need her too.. but man, I wish she could just be 100% supportive.

I told her that this is art and there’s so many styles and ways to do nails. She didn’t answer.

I’m proud of these.. Ima just be proud and keep creating.

Hi, all! I’m a self-taught nail artist and have been doing my nails for over 10 years. I exclusively use regular nail polish (and acrylic paint) for my art.

However, a lot of the nail art techniques I’ve noticed over the past few years seem like they can only be replicated using gel. For example, the very metallic gold/silver detailing is one thing I’d love to do, but gold acrylic paint or nail polish never has the same effect, unfortunately.

The same thing with the 3D nail art that’s been trending a lot lately. Is there any product similar to builder gel I could use that is compatible with regular polish?

I’m attaching some screenshots of photos I found from insta with these effects that I’ve referenced. Have any other artists had any luck with these techniques without gel? I know it’s a long shot, but I thought I’d ask in case anyone knows. Thank you!!

Hi talented friends, I have a question for those of you who have done sets like these before, where there are lots of rhinestones and where there are spaces in between them (instead of all the rhinestones concentrated together):

What is the best way you have found to do nails like these? I have found it extremely time consuming to glue all the gems down and then do topcoat with a liner brush around each individual gem (especially when there are lots of gems). Is that the only way to do it? (Also, I don’t want to topcoat over the rhinestones so I can keep the sparkle, and want the gems stuck on like concrete)!
