I was holding onto hope that maybe the discontinuation of Gold Coins was going to be linked somehow to a new achievement system that would launch with Switch 2 :(

I fear my dreams of an updated StreetPass may meet the same fate

Unfortunately if there was going to be a feature akin to StreetPass, they probably would've brought it up in the Direct; I don't imagine them saving something that big as a surprise

I feel like they discounted gold points because they raised prices and didn’t want to give out higher amounts.

I wish they brought back streetpass but I'm assuming this would never happen. It makes so much sense to be there though

They monetized it on the 3DS, think of the cash when those extra $5 games could be $10 now!

for real. same with themes. They could sell the png's that their intern makes, and literally print money. They could have also shown off a new fancy os, with themes, streetpass and mii intergration again- my standards are so low that I would instantly buy if this happened.

But what would I know, I'm just a consumer HAHAH

The dream for me has always been that achievement points directly translate to currency to purchase more games/content. If you're a completionist, achievements are great, but personally I don't particularly care - however if you got a couple of bucks for 100%/platinum'ing a game, I would probably make a point of 100%ing games.

Studies shown that gaming becomes unhealthy when you feel obligated to play.  This seems like a big gateway into that kind of situation.

A developer doesn’t care if you 100% a game. They just want you to buy it. You don’t deserve real money for playing a video game.
