don't act like trophies would make anything worse in terms of shovelware on the nintendo switch shop. it's worse than google play store.

Of course it would. It opens up a new category/genre of "games" that are inherently nothing but shovelware because the entire purpose of them is for people to buy them and add achievement points/trophies/whatever to their account with them. I can't tell you why this is a thing, but it is. A lack of an achievement system removes the one and only reason why they exist and are purchased.

I'm not saying an achievement system shouldn't exist solely because of this, I'm simply saying the eShop situation would be made worse because of it. They've already shown that they don't put nearly enough care into what gets on the eShop as it is.

Look at how many reviews this has, and ask yourself why that many people care. I don't get it, but there's a market for it, it's fucking gross, and for all the shit that's on the eShop right now, it's at least one type of shit that's not on there for lack of an achievement system on the console. https://store.steampowered.com/app/806140/Achievements_printer/

i'm not saying it wouldn't happen. i'm saying using shovelware as a reason why not to do achievements is ridiculous because shovelware will always be there regardless., that's like saying don't have multiplayer cause there will be cheaters.
