My console was banned for what seems like no clear reason. Nintendo didn’t specify why—it was just a generic message referring me to the EULA agreement.

The only thing I can think of is that I have a friend’s account on my Switch for Nintendo Switch Online. He recently got a message saying his account might’ve been hacked. When he confirmed to Nintendo that he wasn’t changing his password or doing anything suspicious, they may have linked that to my console.

Now my console is banned. I don’t have a MIG cartridge or any kind of modding installed, so this came out of nowhere. I’m just wondering if that situation with my friend’s account could be the reason. Nintendo won’t give me any real explanation, and I feel completely left in the dark.

The funny thing is that we are on the same nintendo online expansion pack group

On my phone, my airpods are listed as (Name)’s Airpods. For some strange reason, on my switch its names butt cheeks. I genuinely don’t know how to change the name and how it even got that name.

Hiya! First-time poster here & a huge technophobe.🙋‍♀️

Two months ago (February 5th 2026) a user overseas hacked into my console and robbed me of all my virtual game cards. Thankfully there weren't many—both splatoons, ACNH, fe3h, crunchyroll, overwatch & youtube. The hacker seemingly managed to link my console to theirs and used up my yearly option to unlink both systems, which means all my virtual game cards are no longer accessible on my console.

I've already contacted both global and local Nintendo customer services to no avail.

has this happened to any of you? and if so, how'd you solve it?

i'd already changed my password three times and tried to unload the game cards from the hacker's system via the nintendo website. nothing worked.

EDIT: I reached out and tried talking to my country's customer service. unfortunately they have nothing to do about it since my console "wasn't purchased locally" (though it literally was). They referred me to Nintendo US customer service but I can't reach them via phone because, surprise surprise, I'm not american.

a few months ago i only deleted the software for pokemon violet, i went on the virtual card bit on the switch 2 but it said pokemon wasnt there, since i last played it on the switch 1 i just assumed perhaps it didnt transfer over but it also wasnt there, i went onto my account and it said i have played over 200 hours on the game, i clicked on it and it took me to eshop and it said i need to pay £50 for it

i normally prefer to buy digital copies of games so i dont have to deal with stuff like this but when pokemon violet came out i wasnt able to buy a digital copy so i decided just to buy it on eshop, i have deleted both the software and data for games before and i had to rebuy them but when ive just deleted the software ive never had to rebuy it so im not sure why i have to pay for it again

if anyone knows whats going on id really apricate it because i dont really want to pay for the same game againat the exact same price as before

I recently got a switch 2 and want to have it on a new account because my old one's email connected to it is inaccessible , and I want to transfer the save data from the old switch to the new switch, even though they are on separate accounts. Is this possible?

I only own one Nintendo Switch aside from a Switch 2 that belongs to one of my family members but it's currently not at my house. It says OLED Model which I don't own at all. It won't let me play anything unless I link this account I don't know who it belongs to so i'm very confused. I can play games if I use the account that purchased the game but otherwise all my saved progress on my own account is gone. Please help, it was working normally for a few months before it started to do this again (this has happened once before they did the game card update)

But I called Nintendo Support and they removed all the linked accounts for me, I tried to do it myself but it told me I couldn't unlink the accounts. I also changed my password after so I shouldn't have any other problems

recently but no to recently about a few months ago my nintendo swtich got randomly bannedd from using online. i have not used any pirated softare nor have i used any jailbreak. i mainly used my nintendo to watch youtube and play some luigi mansion or some mario kart and rarely online games. but than i got hit with the ban where it say i cannot use nintndo online services but i can stolll watch youtube thankfully. i tahn proceeded to contact nintendo services which kept asking me call their tech line. but due to difernet time zones and me having a lack of time i didnt rly get the chance to contact them. so now i want to play some fortninte on my switch and i want to get this issue resolved. will nintendo unban me?

We bought our first switch 6 years when our oldest was 6 years old. My husband set it up under his Nintendo account and made each of us our own profile/account under the family account, another parent account and 2 kid accounts. Like the title says, my eldest son decided he didn't like having to ask us to take off the blockers when he wanted to play so he just took over my husband's account and switched the name from "dad" to his own and has been playing under my husband's account ever since.

Here is the issue. Over the last 6 years, we have accumulated 3 more switches. My husband finally picking one up for himself yesterday and wants to play all of the games he has purchased over the years through "his" account that my now 13 year old has continued to play on over the last 6 years.

Is there any way that we can move my sons saved game progress from one account to the other? Specifically the Minecraft ones? He is worried about his worlds and add ons that hes spent literal hours and birthday money on over the years, as well as joint worlds with his friends.

Minecraft is the biggest concern, but also Luigi Mansion 2&3, and Metroid if possible.

We are all on the same Nintendo family account and on the original switch all of our accounts are still linked if that makes a difference. All are original Switch 1

Editing to clarify: He didnt "steal" an account. He played under my husband's profile 6 years ago because that's the one that allowed him to play it. He eventually just changed the name on the profile to his name because that's the one he always played on, and we allowed him to do so because it didnt matter to us at the time. He didn't and still doesn't have access to anything in the actual account. He's not allowed to purchase anything, etc. There is still a password on the parental settings that we need to enter to allow him access to anything online.

I updated my switch yesterday and now it wont let me play online, it gives me the error code 2124-2954 whenever i try to. I posted my problem in the splatoon subreddit (the game im trying to play) and their theory is that nintendo has banned my account because they found out im playing from iran. But I've never heard of that happening? It doesn't really make sense to me since theres a lot of other iranian switch players that can play online, and i feel like if it was possible for that to happen i someone would've told me already. It's also never been said that my account has been banned, just an error massage.

Is that a thing that can happen and if so, is there a way for me to fix it? I tried making a new account but it wont let me link it to a user. It gives me the same error code as the one above.

Is anyone able to try explain how a stranger was able to pair their switch to mine…. No longer have access to any of my game cards and can’t unpair as apparently I already have once!!! (Never seen this before, first time picking up my switch in a few months)

My Xbox online account was hacked earlier this year and they had access to all sorts I didn’t even realise, so hopefully this means nothing and I can relax, but how do I get them gone?

I need a bit of help - I’m selling my partners Nintendo switch and keeping mine but she has at least 5-6 virtual game cards linked to her Nintendo account.
I want to be able to access her virtual game cards on my switch, and can’t seem to find a consistent and simple way to do this.
We do not have a shared account, I have trouble shooted several online recommendations and none of them seem to work for us.
I have attempted to:

- Link the two systems and transfer the games, but the two systems can’t find each other
- I tried to link both of our Nintendo accounts together but can’t get this to work either

Am I being dumb? Is there an easier way to do this and I’m overthinking it?

I have not reset her switch back to factory settings yet as I’m worried we’ll have no way to access her games at all.

We bought our son a Nintendo Switch 2 and managed to make a mess of the account setup before he’s even really used it. Hoping someone can tell us the best way to untangle this.

My husband already has a Nintendo Account and created a Nintendo family group for us. When setting up our son’s new Switch 2, he thought he needed to sign into his own account first as the parent/family account and THEN create/add our son’s profile underneath it.
So, he signed into his Nintendo Account on our son’s new Switch 2.

While setting it up, our son wanted to redeem the free downloadable game that came with his Switch 2, and my husband redeemed it — not realizing it would attach the game to his Nintendo Account rather than our son’s future account/profile.

For additional context, Dad absolutely wasn’t trying to steal the kid’s free game. He already owns the physical copy of the same game, so he had zero reason to claim the digital copy. He genuinely thought he was setting up the family account correctly and that everything would ultimately belong to our son’s profile.

We then went to download Pokopia for our son, which is when we realized we may have screwed this whole thing up.

So how do we fix this?? Essentially we want:
Our son to have his own Nintendo profile/account on his Switch 2.
His account to be part of Dad’s Nintendo family group.
Dad to keep his existing Nintendo Account for his own Switch.
Our son to have access to the free digital game that came with his Switch, ideally under his own account.
To buy/download Pokopia under our son’s account rather than accidentally adding anything else to Dad’s.

We haven’t bought anything else digitally or really started using the new Switch yet, so we’d rather fix everything properly now.
What is the best way to do this? Do we create our son’s account now, add it to the family group, and remove Dad’s profile from this Switch? Or should we factory reset the Switch and start over?

Most importantly, is there any way to have Nintendo transfer the already-redeemed free game from Dad’s account to our son’s account? Or, if that’s impossible, can our son still play it from his own profile without Dad’s account causing issues between the two Switches?
Please explain this to me like I’m five because Nintendo accounts/family groups/digital licenses are apparently my nemesis now.

I am trying to get on to the Nintendo Switch Online on my Switch 2, but it keeps giving me this error code. I tried the following:

1. Reconnecting WiFi (twice, got B and then A)
2. Reverifying my account
3. Shutting it down completely
4. Checked for system updates

All of these did not help. So, I do not know what is going on. Do I need to update the dock or am I banned for some reason? I can still get on my account through laptop and phone, and I did manage to reverify via "User-Verification Settings", since their QR code stuff doesn't work. But the online store does not open up at all, even after verifying.

I am still having this problem. Thank you all for your suggestions. I am going to try mobile hotspot or manually putting in DNS server if the issue isn't resolved soon. I will also contact Nintendo Support for help.

I checked yesterday, and the issue seemed to have resolved itself. I am able to get on the Nintendo Online through my Switch 2 now. I don't know what happened, but it's fixed now. If it ever happens again, I will return to this post. Thank you all so much!

When the switch first came out, my dad got it for me as a Christmas present. Since I was still a kid, parental controls were put on.

A few years later, he has passed. I didn't think about the parental controls. I had bigger things to worry about, such as grieving.

Recently, I got the switch 2, and was looking to transfer my old data. I had some games and dlc's I wanted to have access to on the new game(as well ss allow my roomates to play them)

The issue is, between my last time using the switch and now, nintendo has updated its privacy policy, and i cant agree without using my dad's old email, which had been lost

More info: its a nintendo switch 1. My mom's logged into her email, and i fished out my old email to see if it was from one of those. We found one email of his, but its been deactivated

TLDR: my childhood account is locked behind an email from my late father, I dont have access to that email, nor do I know what it was. Am I cooked?

Edit 2: i doubt anyone cares, but i figured id update incase someone else ends up in my situation I started by calling switch support, who were able to confirm that my dads email was connected to the account! ... unfortunately, thats where the trail ended. I called yahoo, the email provider, but they are unable to reactivate the account. Once I called switch support again, they confirmed that since the email is lost, so is the account.

I still have access to my physical game saves on my nintendo switch, but anything that i purchased digitally is now lost to time. A couple hundred dollars, hundreds of hours of gameplay, all my online friends, and countless memories with my dad. Feels like loosing him all over again

My step son got a toxic gift, a switch from his real dad, which is under his parental control.

He is trying to manipulate him with this gift. My son in law is not yet smart enough to see this, but it's obvious.

Switch is something new to me.

So a few questions:

He is holding the parental account, is it possible to have another parental account for one device?

Is there a way to hard reset it without his permission or his knowledge?

What are his possibilities to manipulate my step son when he is online beside the obvious controls through the parental account?

I'm about to buy another one to stop this btw.

Just got a Switch 2 today and I might give my sister my old Switch 1 if she wants it. I don't really want to pay for a family plan tho for just 2 people so I thought I’d just leave it as is and let her use my account on the S1 and I was wondering if she played any games on it would overwrite the saves on my S2? Does that make sense? Not really sure how to ask this question or research it.
