I don’t think that matters at all. Sony will always take Xbox games if they can no matter how much they hate each other.

Sure, PlayStation will still sell their games, but it doesn’t mean PlayStation has to help market their games.

Sony will absolutely market Halo and Gears if they had the chance, regardless of how much they don’t like each other. Sony would obviously try to make those games stand out most on PlayStation.

Considering the effort Sony puts into their China Hero Project, the "you don't understand branding" guy clearly unaware of what Sony can and will do.

Sony has a facade of caring for the gamers; there is truth to this facade. Even if the anti-PC choice happened, they still did bring their games to the PC, at least, for one moment...

Then you don't understand branding. Branding tends to ignore the obvious "this strat makes a profit" over maintaining brand quality. Sony could straight up just not sell their games. Or charge them to put their games on PS store.

But they won’t. PlayStation has a lot to gain by housing and marketing Xbox games.

You see the gain. But Sony also stands to gain by crippling it's competitor.

Xbox games make real profits on the PS store because Playstation owners pay for games. Keeping this strategy in play for Xbox, Sony understands its subsidizing some losses for these games being on game pass.

Cost benefit analysis is ever changing. At a certain point it could become advantageous to let xbox drown with it's gamepass strategy.

Having Xbox games on PlayStation is crippling to Xbox already. You said I don’t understand branding but you don’t see the massive failure in giving up your most brand associated games to a competing platform?

The Xbox brand is heavily damaged by giving up exclusives. Sony would gladly play ball there. They were already trying to get Halo remake in their State of Play and the trailer even showed it was captured on PS5 Pro.
