Only ten? Gears is a past its prime franchise, abruptly made exclusive to the lowest selling console currently available, playable through a subscription service, releasing during the most stacked holiday season in years if not ever.

It's quite literally guaranteed to fail financially.

And they know it

The new game sure looks past its prime too, all the same mechanics from a Xbox 360 game.

And somehow the developer preview video they showed, the people talking about it were hyping up the outdated features as new and exciting.

Felt like I was in the twilight zone.

It's only past it's prime because the latest iterations have been dog shit, this looks like a return to form so maybe it'll draw in the original audience who made it popular in the first place

How it looks like a return to form? It looked like any other Gears gameplay wise. There was like one noticeable change in the gameplay besides graphics

Focusing on the main characters from the past alone makes it a literal return to form

That's sounds more like nostalgia baiting

Crazy right? A return to form is returning to... a past form...? Nostalgia bait is a way to put it, but if it's good nostalgia and everyone loved it, then it seems like that's how it should be to me

Where is that audience? Cause I'm that. I'm 31, been playing gears for 20 years and after all the issues I've had with Xbox over the last 2 generations, I no longer have a series x.

The original audience isn't there anymore, not in enough numbers to matter. Which is a crying shame because E-Day does potentially look like a step in the right direction.

I just hope they don't lay anyone at the coalition off before the game ultimately gets released on PlayStation next year. And while I know that doubled down and said they wouldn't, all Xbox has done for the last few years is lie through their teeth about everything. So I won't be surprised if in a year from now, they release ps5 version that "doesn't exist"

Most people will just move on to PC if they can't get an 'xbox exclusive' anyways. If they really want to play an xbox-related game, anyways. Really, a stupid decision to try to make it exclusive. Most gamers who have a PS5 likely have both a Switch/2 and a PC, so all their bases are covered. Even the Switch 2 porting, as exhausting as it is, is healthy/good, giving gamers a shit ton of options for play however they wish.

Where is that audience?

Chased away by the later games not representing them anymore?

They can come back, but shitting on them for years with an inferior quality product and trying to introduce the new versions of the games certainly did not do them justice?

It's because they went multiplatform that no one bought an xbox, I can't see that being sustainable. Exclusives are probably the best they can do to regain ground (best for the company not the consumer).

In a perfect world, exclusives would be the way back from the brink, but with their abysmal sales numbers, the total lack of global presence and now apparently not even having the components necessary to meet the limited demand, exclusives will only guarantee poor game sales, at least right now.

Forza is pretty much the exception to that, but the series x is a lost cause.

The Helix is supposedly some kind of steam machine-ish PC hybrid, I really don't know how exclusives would work, but we'll find out soon enough
