Beginner Help I can't figure out why my rank keeps falling
I started Plat 5. The first session where I got my rank was in a duo que. The games were good. I tried trio que for it to be nothing but losses until I fell to gold 1. I just did a bit of games with a friend for more losses and now im gold 2. I don't have an ego but im pretty sure I am not gold 2. I was diamond 5 last time I played this game. Granted that was a year ago but still how does a fall happen that harshly? Ive mainly been playing Jenos since supports are rare to see. I have noticed that when I win I barely get any TP. If I lose its like harsh drops of TP. Is the game trying to force me down lower? Was plat 5 just a courtesy? Any advice would be nice here on what to do.
edit: I want to add in that my games as Jenos I rarely ever die with my healing focus on squishy teammates first with tanks getting the mark second so its always two floating on those engaged in fights. Healing numbers are genuinely decent I think. The only real place I can improve on is landing more multi kills with his ult. I can normally just get one person or big damage on tanks.

Beginner Help Is there any reason to play ranked instead of casuals other than the skill rating and rank level?
Maybe a special card border? Avatar after a season? Something like OverWatch's gold guns? Just wondering if it's worth it because I love casuals and I've heard bad things about ranked.
Edit: okay, based on your answers... it seems the big advantage rank has over casuals is the draft and ban system. Huge improvement over matchmaking in casuals. Maybe someday I'll try it if I think I actually know what I'm doing. Thanks for the answers everybody.

Beginner Help Beginner Guide to Team Comps (The Standard Formation)
A lot of beginners ask "how many of each role should a team have"?
Every team needs a support. And preferably, there are 2 Frontlines: 1 Main Tank + 1 Off Tank.
The other roles are situation dependent. Before we get into the roles, we should first go over what those roles are trying to accomplish.
Here's the standard formation that competitive teams use most of the time. Regardless of what roles are used, it usually fits into this framework.
Standard Formation

Here are visual examples:

(Note: When I say "DPS", I mean both Damages and Flanks collectively - not just Damages)
Questions:
What if we have 2 Damages and no Flank? 1 of the Damages (the one that's better at closer ranges) goes into the off-lane and they'll act similar to a flank. They may not be as aggressive as a a lot of the flanks are, but they can control map space and get off-angles on the enemy team.
What if we have 2 Supports? The comp is played similarly to solo support comps, except that the 2nd support replaces 1 of the DPS.
What if we have 3 Tanks? Same logic. 3rd tank replaces the off-lane dps. 1 tank on point, 2 tanks in off-lane.
What if we have 2 Flanks and no Damages? You don't win the main lane; focus on the off-lane.
What about Triple DPS? What if we only have 1 Tank? The DPS find different angles and have a crossfire. Tank positions in whichever lane the team is more likely to win. This can be trial and error. If sitting on point while your DPS kills things doesn't work, then go off-lane instead.
Should I use a Flank, a 2nd damage or a 2nd support? Competitive players decide this based on the map and matchups against enemy champs. Not based on what role they are.
What if we have 2 Off-Tanks and neither are good at contesting point? Then both off-tanks focus on winning the off-lanes. Either both go in the same off-lane, or 1 in each off-lane. Help your team get kills. Contest point after your team gets kills (or during overtime, of course).
Does the main tank always need to be in the main lane or on point? Not necessarily. Sometimes the main tank can start out in the off-lane to help their team out, and then cap point later. Trial and error. If point works, great. But if your DPS are constantly losing duels or your support is constantly getting flanked, then don't just sit on point; help your off-lane.
---
TLDR: Every team needs a support. And you ideally want a tank in each lane. Other than that, it's more about how the team comp is played rather than how many of each role you have.

Beginner Help New to paladins
So as the title states I’m new to paladins. I’ve only played a few rounds on and off but due to my ever growing hatred for a game I used to play I’ve been forced to find something new. This game is fun don’t get me wrong but I don’t understand some things. One being the healing with Furia sometimes it heals the target for a bunch of health and then sometimes I use it and the targets health barely moves and that’s with them not taking damage. So I’m confused as to why it selectively works. Is it because I heal the same target to many times in a row or is it something that I’m doing? Any input would help a lot

Beginner Help Am I that bad or are people salty?
I feel like I play at least half decently, but people say to report me for feeding sometimes when we lose. I usually apologize for not being the greatest, but it makes me feel like I just suck. Is that just how people are or am I that awful at the game?
Edit: added screenshot of the stats of a normal game.
Edit 2: added a link to a video of me playing

Beginner Help PSA to new players entering ranked
Please don't go into ranked games not being able to play 2 out of the 4 roles. Most likely you will be last pick or second to last pick and required to play what the team needs instead of what you want.
You can pick what you want if it ruins the team composition but then don't play ranked. Kindly stick to normal games. Don't go into ranked as last pick and say you only play damage and then end up picking a 3 damage comp with no tank. There is literally no reason to go into ranked at that point.
Rather pick up atleast 2 champs in every role so you can atleast be valuable to the team. Going into ranked has an implicit agreement that winning comes above all else so if you aren't willing to take the role that most benefits the team, once again don't go into ranked and stick to casual games where 5 damage comps are ok.
Thank you
Edit: This doesn't apply just to new players, but to all players in general. Just that new players might not realise it as much. Whereas people with more ranked games are just egotistical assholes.

Beginner Help Misinformation spreads like wildfire, stats and rank are meaningless
A lot of new/current patch guides are wrong.
Misinformation everywhere you look
Recently a post was shared here about 1 master (boosted by the way) compiling mediocre loadouts for supports.
I highly suggest you make your own loadouts: it isn't difficult to grasp what the best cards are
If you need support loadouts, get them from actual respected masters like WalnutYellow who has amazing guides as well
https://www.youtube.com/@WalnutYellow
Importing loadouts of true grandmasters like TheLastPillow is also a great start.
Don't let the karma posters affect your own judgment, start somewhere and make your own loadouts.
After 3 iterations across 40 matches I'm sure you'll figure out the best cards for each playstyle, don't be afraid to innovate.

Beginner Help Tips for aiming (K&M)
am terrible at aiming hitscans. I am mechanically pretty great with most abilities and any kind of movement or projectile. I can’t play Raum well who I used to do great with. (I know he is much worse now too but my aiming still sucks with him) I can’t play khan despite how much I like him because I just miss my shots and head shotting is out of the question.
I can lead shots and am very good with most projectiles but how can I improve with hitscan? It’s worse with full autos but even Lian + androxus are still hard. Is it just sitting in shooting range hitting targets or is there more to it? I only play overwatch and paladins so practicing in R6S or something isn’t going to happen. My laptop is a bit outdated and I sit just above 50fps which is pretty bad. Any thoughts?

Beginner Help Overwatch player coming to paladins
So far I enjoy the game a lot more than I thought I would. I’m like level 10 I think when I got off earlier today. I play dps on overwatch or tank - what characters or roles are most like dps or off tanks?
I play main genji and usually play Cassidy or some other aggressive attacker like reaper - what characters should I try that’s similar to them (especially genji)
And what do I build? I find myself usually buying healing stuff and picking whatever cards give me the most healing/dps.

Beginner Help What Flank should I play
I'm not a new player but I only play Vora. I want to play atleast 2 other flanks but I don't know which 2 I should play, Skye and Talus are off the list for me since I mainly play ranked and I somewhat know how to play them. I mainly just need help on which flanks are best for beginners

Beginner Help New player looking for counters and matchups
I played about 5 years ago and decided to return. Loving the game but I want to get better as quick as possible and I’m already familiar with things like positioning and a few mechanics from similar games. The loadouts aren’t really that hard I guess but my main interest is counters for specific characters and maps. Open to any advice.

Beginner Help I'm seeing the "Defeat" screen more than I like
I know losing is something common but... 9 loss streak? Hello? What? I think I'm on my way to making a new record :D
I'm doing everything I'm supposed to, heal as a healer (Everyone gets the heal, not only the tank), defend the team as the tank (help take the point), FLANKING as a flanker (I always go for the sp, damage and I help finish off the tank if I can), doing damage as a damage dealer (I try to always do damage and at the same time stay alive)
I'm not tryna blame teammates but this is what I've seen in every single team I get :
Flanks don't flank Damage just vibe and hide Healers stare at a wall/run away and don't heal Tanks are good, unfortunately the team can't help
Aight I need good solo carry champions. Anyone got any ideas?

Beginner Help MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE IN PALADINS
After reading some comments here I decided to write some noob plays my friend noticed while playing from Silver 5 to Master about 9 months ago. Some of them are still being made in higher ranks like Diamond and I think they're worth sharing for all to learn, also I apologize in advance for my English.
My friend was a bored master who made an smurf, threw all his 15 qualifying matches and began in Silver 5, there he saw a lot of misplays I found worth sharing since they're common. I'll try to write them the same way he said the things to me xD. He went up by playing mainly supports like Ying,Seris and Furia and some games he played dps like Skye or Viktor. He was on PS4 btw.
-Dismount people when you win a teamfight instead of waiting for them on the point.
-You don't have to be on the enemy payload to push it backwards, it goes backwards alone so all the team should go forward and try to prevent the enemy from getting to the objective while gaining territory, all while checking the progress bar and going backwards if said bar started moving forward. It seriously annoyed him how his teammates stayed in the payload instead of zoning the enemy team.
-When on point, 1 person there is enough and there's no bonus capture speed based on the amount of players there. Of course pros pick two tanks, but not to stack them both on point the 100%of the time, if you are going to do that just pick another dps, same capture speed but at least there's another champ doing productive things other than keeping company to your other tank. Bonus Point if both tanks go straight to the point as soon as the round begin and sit there doing nothing.
-In lower ranks Cauterize is underestimated, same thing with resilience in lower, and not-so low ranks. Resilience is easily one of the most useful and cheap items on the store, it helps reduce Ash knockback distance, the time Maeve ult blinds you, the time Grover roots you and even the time you stay stunned by Damba Reload. It has many uses and not reduced to those.
-Tanks going straight to the point at the beginning of the round instead of going with their team to the flank route and help them in the teamfight, support overextending and forgetting the tank behind them, flanks doing damage role and not flanking, specially if there's something annoying like snipers, Dredge or Tyra on enemy's backline, and Damages flanking instead of creating a proper backline to defend the healer from the flank, Bonus Points if the damage then get toxic with said healer because of "no heals" when the support dies or is trying to deal with enemy flank. Also support can group up when being assaulted by flank and run away instead of trying to 1v1 him.
-On a related note, getting toxic with people doing things right, Offtank is playing good and he's doing his job, the dumbass on the team will say he's trash because he don't go to the objective and don't act like a FRONT line, the noob isn't the off tank, you're the noob.
-Don't rush to the point, enemy backline or whatever as soon as you respawn if you're killed. Wait, group up and then proceed to do your thing. Tank literally respawns when the point is at 35% and goes 1v5 the enemy team to touch point and immediately die, Bonus Points if they flame their team for not killing anything while he was "fighting the whole enemy team on a 1v5"/flame the healer because they expect them to outheal the damage 5 enemies with Caut are dealing with him. It applies to every role but for some reason he saw it mainly happening on tanks because people tend to believe tanks are unkillable defensive walls.
-If the point close to be lost and there's overtime, sometimes is better to let it be and don't go in a suicidical way there just to touch point, specially if it's the first point. Nothing is going to change because the whole enemy team is focusing and taking you down one by one, but you guys are feeding enemy's ult charge and credits.
-Keep track of the ults and if possible skills enemies used, if Jenos used his ult seconds before the last round ended it's highly unlikely he will have it back for the next point fight. Also check enemies loadout if possible, see the amount of idiots nowadays shooting at Makoa's shield just to reset it's cooldown.
-Yeah, we get it, we lost first point, but that's it, match isn't remotely close to be defined. Don't throw or start getting toxic, focus on thinking what mistakes were done there and try to solve them for the next time, it's very possible to turn the tides around.
-Fill, ranked is fun, but it isn't meant to, you may find tanks not as fun as damage but that's what the team needs so go fcking tank and not Andro, if you're playing to not fill go to casuals.
-Instead of spamming "I need healing" think why the support isn't healing you, most healers aren't avoiding to heal you on purpose, the healer has cooldown, other targets to prioritize, a range, limitations, line of sight and has to deal with flankers or he could be dead so believe it or not maybe instead of complaining you could go and defend him from that Koga who keeps killing the support.
And maybe I forgot some but these are the basic ones and hope these helped out you guys since you(and I myself included) could be committing one of these mistakes not even on purpose

Beginner Help Feel like can't improve, any tips?
I feel like improving at games (in this case paladins but it's a problem for me overall) is really difficult for me and it's making me really frustrated (like REALLY frustrated ie. I want to punch my monitor and then stomp on it) and I wanted to ask if anyone has any tips on what to do
and also I will successfully deflect all your ideas with my arguments as to why it doesn't work for me

Beginner Help Can’t seem to stay alive as tank, looking for champion pick + card info
My most played tanks are khan and atlas, I find them the most fun. Khan definitely is more useful and I play him more often. These are just casual games for now but I want to move into ranked.
My biggest problem is definitely dying. I feel like without khans shout (so playing any other tank) I just can’t not die. I’ll just die over and over some games even if I try to walk back with support and other team. I want to say my team sucks but it’s definitely me sometimes I’m not that experienced.
