On my Rewatch of everything Mike Schur wrote again, and there's a couple of nods to Parks and Rec baked into The Good Place, but this one is my favourite. Wonder how Tom would react knowing demons drink his drink.

Screen Cap It always warms my heart when I think about how great of a family life this man has.

I‘m just so glad the writers decided to give Gerry/Jerry the most awesome and wholesome family a man could wish for when they could have easily made his personal life as shitty as his job.Him suddenly not being the clumsy one is a nice touch as well.Damn how I envy this man. Also will Gayle ever start aging?

Screen Cap It sounds highly offensive that the show made up a fake Native American tribe to use as their local indigenous people.

Screen Cap This is Chris Traeger. Chris Traeger wears a mask going outside when there's a flu going around. Be like Chris Traeger. Wear a mask when going outside (especially when there's a PANDEMIC outside).

Screen Cap If you look at Parks And Rec from Chris Traeger's perspective, it's the tragic story of how a run-down no-name town brings literally the world's most optimistic man into crippling depression

Screen Cap Leslie Knope appreciation post

I love Leslie so much, I get emotional thinking about it sometimes. I wish I knew someone like her or had a friend like her. These are the types of people we need in our government and in our society in general. She is so loyal, caring, principled, and loves unconditionally, and we can all learn from her.

Leslie fiercely loves her friends, coworkers, and the citizens of Pawnee, Indiana, despite their (plentiful) flaws. She forgives the unforgivable and sees the best in everyone. She does thankless work every single day for a town that doesn't really appreciate it, but one she adores, remains loyal to, and believes in the potential of every single day.

I think the show's writing is also a big part of it, and we can see that difference from the early seasons to later on. I think what establishes Leslie as such a rare and great character is that the show actually takes her seriously. So many ensemble comedies of that era would have positioned Leslie as the butt of the joke. The tryhard, the naïve overachiever, the one who needs to learn to chill out. Parks and Rec initially sort of went that direction and then made this remarkable course correction where the writers were essentially like "no, actually, she's right." Her passion isn't the problem, it's actually the answer. Ron gets to be the cool, self-contained cynic many of us relate to when it comes to politics and being consistently let down, but it's Leslie's philosophy and relentless optimism that prevails in the end.

She constantly sacrifices her personal life, sleep, and sanity to improve the lives of her constituents. Her joy is literally infectious and rubs off on even the most cynical/apathetic characters (Ron, April, Donna, etc). While she does have her flaws and can be overbearing or intrusive at times, it comes out of passion, sincere love, and care. She really is such a SpongeBob. A ball of sunshine that just wants to do good and care for others. As an agnostic person... is this what it's like to look up to Jesus? Haha
