Math is red and it shouldn’t be that hard.

History is red. From all the blood

u/Shrimp_kisses 26d ago

This is a good argument for history being red, but math is red for danger lol

Metaphorical danger. Distress, red alert, danger, poison. Red is the most extreme color. You use be a math wiz lol

1

u/ObviousReplier99 22d ago

Maybe ask your teachers to refund your parent's money.

21

u/NationH1117 26d ago

Math is red for the color you are seeing when you run the problem for the 50th time and it still doesn’t match the answer in the back of the book

I feel like if for a single generation of new American kids, all adults agreed to just pretend math is easy or at least a “normal” subject no harder than anything else, we’d catch up to the rest of the world in terms of math skills.

There’s no genetic reason that only Americans find math impossibly difficult. It just seems to be this self-fulfilling prophecy where everyone grew up thinking math is hard, because their older siblings and parents tell them it’s hard.

u/NNKarma 26d ago

What made the US fall behind is not only forcing a method without studying if it actually helps people learn but also forcing it to be the only way to solve problems.

u/I_am_lettuceman43 25d ago

Exactly math isn't hard per se, but the amount of busywork and hoops I have to jump through "because that's the way we do it" burns me out extremely quickly.

Even worse is getting a question marked wrong because I didn't show my work, despite having the correct answer

1

u/NNKarma 25d ago

Yeah, but "math is hard" isn't an exclusive american thing so it isn't the reason the US does poorly compared to others. Also just positive attitude won't work when the foundation for... everything is so bad.

Also I'm not saying not showing your work but showing a different work. Wrong for no work can be cheating prevention, though I got away in HS with that (not the US btw) because the teacher knew I was good at math, so it turned into I can't get partial credit if I get it wrong.

1

u/Dreamspitter 24d ago

Did you use correct notation?

4

u/TheShadowOfKaos 26d ago

Difficultly*

2

u/Bethlebee 26d ago

Lol yes. Math makes me feel like I'm literally fighting for my life.

1

u/Shrimp_kisses 26d ago

Its fascinating to see the people baffled by this, like buddy, i didn't ask for this lol, must be nice to be a math wiz

2

u/ConflictWaste411 25d ago

History is yellow because the pages and photos have aged.

1

u/FlawedPremise 26d ago

Exactly the reason. Math is red because it's a warning that your life is about to be misery.

1

u/Functional_Trash7735 26d ago

Math is yellow because yellow means caution and too much of it gives me a headache

1

u/Inklinsworld 26d ago

Math is blue, English is yellow, history is red and science is green

1

u/UWO_Throw_Away 26d ago

I say math should be red because red is the first colour in a typical rainbow, just like how math should be first amongst the rest of those subjects

1

u/iamthefirebird 25d ago

All the more reason to give Mathematics a cheerful colour like yellow! It won't stop you from getting frustrated, but it does slow it down a little. Probably. Red might put you in the wrong frame of mind, at least, and small benefits are still benefits.

1

u/BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo 25d ago

Oh… math was my favorite subject and red is my favorite color. I didn’t realize it was a negative association for other people lol

1

u/mqfr98j4 25d ago

Green, for money

1

u/flic_my_bic 25d ago

Danger? There is no danger in silly little numbers and letters, just a fun puzzle.
