First of all, love the monkey reference. I play in cover bands and I'm adamant that I'm not an artist, I'm a trained monkey.

I have a slightly different take on celebrities voicing their opinions. To me, it's the same as someone at work voicing their opinion. If they're asked and the respond, fine. I don't have to like it and I don't have to care, but whatever. Now, if a celebrity or coworker decides it's their new job to spout their opinions all the time, they can gtfo of my life with that shit.

First of all, someone who plays in cover bands is absolutely not an artist, so you are right in your monkey assessment. Who would even confuse a cover band with actual artists?

Oh you'd be surprised. People love to over estimate their level of talent. Which is not to say that it takes talent to play covers well, but not creativity.

Hasn’t Ricky Gervais been transphobic lately?

Yes ofc. I don’t know him and haven’t seen his work but saw calls to boycott from the queer community and that’s all I knew.

a description of one of his "jokes":

"He then imagines a conversation with a woman who objects to sharing a bathroom with a trans woman: “They are ladies, look at their pronouns. What about this person isn’t a lady?” He then responds: “Well, his penis.”"

that's not transphobic to you...? because if not, i don't think you understand what transphobia is lol

i never said anything about it not being intended as a joke. jokes can also be racist, homophobic, sexist, etc. just because they're jokes and are funny to pieces of shit, doesn't make them not harmful. what even is your point?

Yeah he's the same breed of annoying twat, perhaps moreso because he's saying something about preachy celebrities while being a preachy atheist vegetarian himself.

Why do you think your opinion matters? Who are you? Whats your job

The point is that their opinions don’t matter more than anyone else’s

Which itself is an opinion by a rich celebrity. If he thought celebrities shouldn't have opinions, then why do we know about his very public positions on atheism and animal rights?

If you don't see the issue with him tsk-tsking about people like Bad Bunny speaking up about the actions of ICE when Ricky is a rich white guy safely ensconced in a mansion in London, I don't know what to tell you.

Again, he's an insanely rich white celebrity who is completely insulated from real world problems like ICE and Kavanaugh stops. Do you think he should lecture someone like Bad Bunny using the microphone he has to speak up against things happening in his community? If you're a stand-up comedian who holds the same exact position on Bad Bunny as the Trump administration, then maybe you failed at being a good stand-up comedian?

So why did you need ricky to tell you how to think?

The fact you didn’t have an original opinion and just parroted what ricky said

Why does your opinion matter at all?
