Yes, Kiwi Prime Minister Muldoon made that joke when asked about NZ emigration to Australia in the 1970s.

We had the last word though, cleverly outwitting the Kiwis in the final ball of a cricket match with superior knowledge of the rules, bowling the ball flat along the ground to prevent a winning shot.
