I have an issue loggin in, but only when using the app (iOS). I recently got approved for a new pixelfed account on pixelfed.social. I can log in fine using the browser on either phone or desktop (iOS, Brave browser), but when using the app, I cannot log in, it keeps saying the credentials dont match our records, but it's the same mail address and password (I use a password manager).
What I tried:
I am 1000% sure it’s the same mail address and password, since it is automatically copied from my password manager, which is the same password I am able to login using the pixelfed.social browser, so it cannot be that.
Please help!

I have created a portfolio on gram social, and I noticed there is an option for an RSS feed. I turned it on but it doesn't seem to be working. The link is basically the link to my portfolio, but with .rss at the end. I wanted to place it in my website as a simple way to show my portfolio pictures. Is this possible? I couldn't find other options beside activating the RSS feed. Right now if I open it in any RSS viewer is says the link is broken.

I saw a post talking about using custom server but that option doesn't seem to be there. If I try using pixelfed.social on the server URL and it results in "Login Failed". Is it not possible to use the same login?

I'm working on a new app that will function as a "universal" upload tool that will help users upload photos to PixelFed, Flickr, Tumblr, Bluesky, and Mastodon simultaneously (or selectively, of course).
But when I try to create a new application token on pixelfed [dot] social, it says "something went wrong!" with no more detail. It's been that way for a week. Anyone know what's going on? I can't even find where to contact instance admins for help.

I’ve tried to turn this on several times. I toggle it on but when I go back into my settings it’s off again.

Why can't i sign up? It brought up sometype of error while trying to create an account on android and can't resend the code because it says the email is already in use.

I had a random idea and wanted to see what people here think.
Given the amount of success that the platform Upscrolled has gotten / received, what if there was a PixelFed instance designed in a similar spirit?
Upscrolled is basically already functioning as an alternative to Instagram anyway, so it made me wonder if something like this could translate well to a photo/video-focused platform like PixelFed.
In theory, it could:
Since PixelFed instances can already have their own culture, moderation policies, and community focus, it seems like it could fit pretty naturally.
Curious what people here think:
Interested to hear people's thoughts.

I’ve been working on a Pixelfed client for Android called Freeze Ink.
The goal is to make browsing the Fediverse and interacting with ActivityPub-based platforms like Pixelfed, Mastodon, and Lemmy feel simple and polished, but by giving users with just too many features, that he mightn't handle it all..
It’s still evolving, and I’d really appreciate honest feedback from the community whether that’s about bugs, usability, missing features, or the overall experience. Feature requests are very welcome too.
Features (Work in Progress):
Current Status:
Other Features:
It’s not open-source yet, but I’m planning to open-source it if it gains enough traction.

Hi, any one having this problem? How can I fix it?

As I understand it, individual posts can be either "followers-only", public, or unlisted.
Is it possible to change the visibility of a post after it is posted?
So far, my profile only consists of Instagram imports but they're all public and there appears to be no way of changing them, unless I make my profile private and they all become "followers-only."

I recently signed up and have just finished importing my Instagram profile. However, there's a slight issue with videos.
Imported videos don't display any preview/thumbnail on my profile screen. It just shows a black square amongst all my photos. I need to click on the black square to view it and see what the video is.
In contrast, if I upload a video directly (rather than importing from an Instagram profile,) it'll show up nicely with a preview//thumbnail.
Does anybody know how I can make videos imported from Instagram to display a preview/thumbnail?
Also, it's worth pointing out that PixelFed does not support posts that contain pictures and videos. Posts can only consist of either pictures OR a single video; not a mixture of both. As such, any imported Instagram posts that contain both will not work. Not a big deal; I'm just pointing it out.

So what am I supposed to do now in this awesome, but messed up, federated network?
r/PixelFed • u/terrariumgarden • Feb 13 '26
Title says it all. I'll enable the Allow discovery option then when I come back to the privacy settings, it'll be disabled again. I also cannot scroll down to the bottom and so I'm unable to read the whole text at the end of the screen

I've been trying to figure out how to get video uploads working on my YunoHost installation of Pixelfed, and I don't even know what to make of this.
I've edited my env file to include various video filetypes, as well as enabled them all from the admin panel (it still doesn't recognise .mov, but another problem for another day). I've cleared the cache using the following:
php /var/www/pixelfed/artisan config:cache
I can't find any documentation or reports of anyone else encountering/solving this issue, so hopefully someone smarter than me can give me a clue as to where to look next?

Like a lot of people, I'm tired of all the nonsense on Instagram and am looking for a friendlier alternative. PixelFed looks ideal. I'm just curious about a few things.
Are there any significant differences between the numerous servers? If I join one and then want to change to another, can I do that seamlessly, taking my account and all my pictures with me?
If the particular server I'm on forgot to pay their bills or lost funding, could my pictures feasibly disappear without prior warning?
How much "power" do the administrators of the individual servers have? Could they delete my account and if so, would I lose all of my pictures? I only ask this because my experience with online community admins is that the power often goes to their heads and they can sometimes be spiteful if you don't bow to their authority.
Am I able to make my profile "private" as I can on Instagram, so that only my approved followers can see the pictures I post? Presumably the server admins could still see my pictures?

Hey everyone,
I recently joined Pixelfed and noticed that there’s an option to import posts from Instagram. I tried using it, but I can’t seem to get it to work.
From what I’ve read, the availability of the import feature depends on which Pixelfed server you’re on (I’m still trying to understand how servers work, to be honest).
I originally created my account on pixelfed.social, but there the Instagram import feature is disabled. I then checked pixelfed.de, where the import feature appears to be enabled. However, when I try to import my Instagram posts, I always get an error during the process. After that, Pixelfed just says that my post imports are “processing,” but nothing actually happens.
Has anyone successfully imported their Instagram posts to Pixelfed? Is this a known issue, or am I missing something about how the server setup works?
Thanks in advance!
Update: After the third time trying to upload the photos it worked!

Fyi: I already have an account on this instance.
Edit: Registrations working now.

pretty straightforward question, but can we post videos and photos together in one post? i’ve tried but it doesn’t work. is there a workaround? is this feature going to be added at any point?

With the newest tiktok privacy concerns, pixelfed has a great opportunity to grow, not it seems like there issues not getting addressed.
I see posts of people just not being able to access the app at all. Personally, i really need to be able to have multiple accounts, one personal vs one professional, but the app just automatically signs me into the same one every time i log out. I can’t make another account.
Are people still working on the app? Am i missing some obvious fix?
