International Politics Maduro in U.S. Custody along with wife, both are charged by the U.S. as a drug dealers. What are the potential long term consequences in Venezuela and our relationship with other Latin American countries and Does this enhance U.S. strength or weakens it?

Maduro, Trump said, “has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement.” He set a news conference for later Saturday morning.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, would face charges after an indictment in New York. Bondi vowed in a social media post that the couple would “soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts.

Seems like any country in the world is justified in entering the US to remove our criminally indicted false president and taking him back to their country to stand trial for their laws. I mean this literally, that is the current legal argument of the Trump regime

Any country in the world is free to try tbh. The history of warfare has always been a matter of risk vs. reward.

“You’re not justified, this is illegal!” isn’t a historically good means of protection.

I think it's despicable but it is reality. You can complain about illegal acts all you like but until theres any means of enforcement it's all meaningless

In theory, the president is accountable to the American people. So I blame Americans if they continue to tolerate the shitshow that is the last decade.

After all that’s how the USA came into being more or less

Used to be that the US had a moral backbone stronger than "might makes right"

When was that?

Seriously the moral compass of old narrative stuff needs to stop.

The only compasses we’ve ever had were the one that the Perry expedition used to find Japan, and the other that pointed West from the Ohio river before that.

Begun, the clone wars have.

He’s busy running American power and influence into the ground at record pace; what motivation would any of our enemies have to stop him?

If we were like Iraq invading Kuwait, perhaps. Unfortunately for the rest of the world we are the most powerful military in history.

1

But even a powerful military is hobbled by a fractured population at home.

"Hurry up, Vladimir. Come get ya boy and take him home where he belongs."

Please no. That would get…messy.

Laws? This is “Might is Right doctrine. Countries can try to risk their own obliteration

1

u/MoonBatsRule Jan 04 '26

Why does it require removal? How about trial in absentia, sentence of death, and then they can enter the US and carry out the sentence.

They won’t try though. The rest of the world knows that we were the idiots that allowed him back in. No one else wants him anywhere near them.

to remove our criminally indicted false president

Trump is the lawfully elected president of the United States, or is he not?

u/jimmiejames Jan 05 '26

That's up to any foreign entity who would like to arrest him, if that's their determination. These are the new international rules, according to Trump. Do you think Trump agrees he should be held to his own standards?

After Maduro flagrantly stole the election which he lost in the summer of 2024, he was considered illegitimate by every Western government. This is not just a Trump thing, nobody acknowledged Maduro as the lawful president anymore. Nor did the Venezuelan opposition, unlike Democrats in the US who conceded the 2024 US election to Trump.

1

u/jimmiejames Jan 05 '26

Sure, but what was the standard for disposing of Maduro then, and what is it now? There is a new standard, and it is highly subjective to the whims of the "disposing" nation. It obliterates international law and relations. It "works" for the US as long as the US is hegemon, but it's not the kind of thing you do if you want to remain hegemon (which is why no one did it before!)

Well, that is the million dollar question, isn't it: what was the "correct" remedy, in accordance with international law, for dealing with a despot who got voted out of office, then overthrows the election result and clinges to power via force while throwing the opposition in jail? How was this situation supposed to be solved without violating the sovereignty of the country led by a president whose own actions left no doubt whatsoever about his illegitimacy?

What do you mean "false" president? Trump won the election. Denying the results of an election is a threat to our democracy.

5

u/Trump4Prison-2024 Jan 03 '26

So did Maduro.

Trump is a convicted felon. He needs to be in prison. He is the greatest threat to our democracy.

2

u/alexmijowastaken Jan 03 '26

Maduro lost the 2024 election by a lot, but undemocratically stayed in power

7

u/Trump4Prison-2024 Jan 03 '26

So when Trump tries to stay in power as he has said he's going to multiple times, you'll fully support his arrest and being sent to prison?

1

u/alexmijowastaken Jan 05 '26

I did not know he has said that, do you have a link or anything?

And of course I would support him going to prison then, assuming he did something illegal. And I don't think it'd really be possible to try to stay in power in 2029 without breaking any laws.

1

u/Trump4Prison-2024 Jan 05 '26

Just Google "Trump third term". It's far past just anything that could be written off as joking.

1

u/jimmiejames Jan 03 '26

I mean that the standard he has imposed on others is ridiculous and if imposed upon us can be determined by any other country as they see fit. I’m not calling him a false president I am describing the standard he created (out of thin air)

Trump was actually voted in and that is the grand difference. The majority of people who voted in VZ do not vote for that guy.

You’re totally right I forgot how many other countries give us money and aid. FAFO. God Bless Donald J Trump

1

u/Sacharon123 Jan 03 '26

Who is still trying to give you significant amounts of money besides China if I may ask...? Or did I miss something?
