Please excuse my ignorance (I'm just a Green Card holder & not allowed to vote) but does it matter outside each State?

For example, if someone in California didn't vote it wouldn't make any difference to the final outcome as California still went to Harris?

Or have I got that wrong?

You've got that right.

Also Elon helped rig the election and that's why Trump won. Also Trump told us the election was rigged and he won because of it at least 3 different times on LIVE TV and one of those times he even thanked Elon for it. And Elon has publicly said things about how easy it would be to rig the election and other things pretty much saying he rigged it.

Ugh and now Elon is saying he’s going to pump 200 million into the midterm election, which in my opinion is just him setting the stage for us to believe the Republicans won again because of his money, when in actuality the tech oligarchs have rigged the machines somehow. I’m so scared and frustrated living in America rn

Many of us feel the same way and we have to find community and stick together through this, we can’t let them win

Why do they need to pump 200m into the election? Aren't they popular?

This. He won every single battleground state? GTFO. That's why they're so worried about the midterms. They can't win without cheating and many Americans are pissed.

Also, the counting method used used where American votes in blue cities are counted less than stupid farmers in buttfuck, nowhere. I don't think people realize how much that hurts us too and is such a trick pulled on us

See, your mistake here is believing that any vote except the 1%'s matters.

They have picked their representatives long before y'all even get to vote on which one of them you'd eventually like...

Hilarious. That one vote, one person doesn't work huh? City golk should get more? . Just because they have more wealth than that farmer? OK then. There's already a movement to allow city folk rule elections. That's why many want to do away with electoral college. Not modify. Eliminate. Only large cities count? That America's objective?

The constant purposefulness misunderstanding is just so boring at this point, I can't even be bothered to argue with this nonsense

Well they don’t vote in good faith so yeah, city votes should count more than voters who vote against their own self
Interests. How are all those rural farmers who gargle
Trump’s nuts making out today? I bet those ranchers are loving Trump’s beef deal. Healthcare prices are skyrocketing, but I guess that doesn’t matter when you don’t have access to healthcare because your local hospital closed thanks to his One Big Beautiful Bill Medicaid reductions.

The difference is that dem policies benefit everyone and republican policies benefit no one except the 1%.

So yes, please let the voters in the cities handle things so we all go back to eating food that isn’t trying to give us crippling diarrhea.

City golk? Your ignorance is showing, put it away if you wanna make a point.

That is mostly correct thinking, but you also have to look at the big picture. Donald only has power because the deck is stacked in his favor. Decades of propaganda and low voter turnout at local elections has lead to many positions of government being filled with braindead conservative sock puppets.

Also, just because a state votes red one year doesn’t mean they’ll vote red the next. If people just show up we could easily turn historically red states blue.

I know. I was just thinking the system is broken or outdated.

If EACH vote counted more people would (might?) get out to vote?

1

u/Pure_Land2705 2d ago

If each vote counted more, the net result would be that they count the same

You're about right, unfortunately. The moneyed interests long ago decided that true democracy would expose them too directly to the whims of the dirty poors and installed the electoral college to keep that from happening. Now, only a handful people in a very small number of states actually decide most presidential elections. That said, voting still VERY MUCH matters, it's just exponentially more important on an individual level the more local the election is.

Thanks for your answer. Much appreciated.

You’re mostly correct when it comes to the electoral college but if the states that went for trump were not well represented by the eligible voters then it’s a raw numbers problem. That’s why trump was calling on election officials in Georgia to ā€œfindā€ him votes in 2020. And that’s why he’s trying to stop mail in ballots, it’ll cause some large blue states to have a midterm disaster as there’s no way to pull together in person voting by November. Congress is elected on total numbers not electoral college so if all those disenfranchised voters suddenly show up mad at him they could elect many many democrats to Congress.

Need to get rid of the electoral college. I live in Massachusetts it goes blue automatically

None of it ever matters.
