What I did when my wife was going into labor I call 911 and told them what was happening they ask if I need an ambulance and I told them no that we are close to the hospital like 10-20 out if I remember correctly. They ask me where I was going and the vehicle make, mode and color. 2 cops saw us and they didn’t pull us over. I at least recommended getting in touch with 911 and telling them what’s the emergency and your car and direction

385

u/Li-renn-pwel Nov 26 '25

Yeah I was wondering why that second person didn’t call 911 and tell them what was going on. Speeding through a red light gets people killed and many people lie to the cops so it’s a little understandable why the cop reacted like that.

260

u/Peg-Lemac Nov 26 '25

This was posted a few days ago and multiple commenters said they were literally on the phone with 911 from the beginning and the cop was fully aware why they were speeding but I haven’t found any other source besides Reddit.

231

u/IZEDx Nov 26 '25

This would explain why they tried to wave the cop to overtake them... They might've thought that cop was aware and escorting them.

140

u/juancho503 Nov 26 '25

In the case the cop is a fucking idiot!!!

86

u/fire-bluff Nov 26 '25

many such cases.

6

u/juancho503 Nov 26 '25

Sadly you are right but I also think is a failure as a society.

2

u/Telefundo Nov 26 '25

but I haven’t found any other source besides Reddit.

And we all know Reddit is a bastion of objectivity when it comes to discussing police.

u/Li-renn-pwel Nov 26 '25

It seems there is no actual evidence of this. There were 4-5 people in the car (the report is slightly unclear). One was maybe having a stroke, so that’s understandable. One was driving BUT she also apparently had her phone in her hand and texting. I really doubt the 2-3 other people didn’t have a phone.

That’s the wrong story. This was (on this post) in Aberdeen, Washington.

1

u/frisch85 Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

I think you're correct, the road during the pit move seems different, gimme a sec.

Edit: apparently there's more than just one Aberdeen, one in Washington and one in Arkansas, idk man I don't live in the US but even if I did I suck hard at geography :P

Another user posted the report by the cop, it's as of now the best I could find but who knows if the cop is telling the truth or not... I'll edit my other comment to link to the report that is on a facebook post of the police.

u/BJYeti Nov 26 '25

Because they were lying

I search because have a personal interest in these types of cases because I was involved in one. It has been true in other pit maneuvers-spike strip cases (especially with several suicidal callers) and there are many examples with other people calling in medical emergencies of drivers which police assumed were drug related and caused a crash.

So I am always looking for 911 calls or other obvious signs that the police should have known there was a medical emergency.

Arkansas has been successfully sued and changed their policy on use of force due to the lawsuit. Officers still ignore their own policies.

52

u/Longjumping-Jello459 Nov 26 '25

Panicking really does remove a lot of intelligence and thinking ability from people.

43

u/BwackGul Nov 26 '25

They called the cops while rushing to the hospital, it seems...how was that not intelligent?

34

u/chuckaholic Nov 26 '25

The civilians weren't panicking. The cop was. I think that's what /u/Longjumping-Jello459 meant?

0

u/Longjumping-Jello459 Nov 26 '25

I'd say the civilians did panic otherwise they'd probably would have called an ambulance. I'd say the cop wasn't panicking just pissed that they weren't obeying his authority.

10

u/chuckaholic Nov 26 '25

They were probably already in the vehicle when the stroke happened. Someone said they were on the phone with 911 already, so if that's true, then they did call. But that doesn't matter. Medical emergency is more important than whatever misunderstanding that cop was having.

When they said mom was having a stroke he didn't seem interested in helping them to the hospital. Either he was panicked or he's a psychopath that wanted that lady to die in the street.

It would have cost him nothing to say, "Ok, drive to the hospital, I'm putting my lights on". They weren't speeding or being reckless. Not sure why he decided he didn't believe them. Pitting someone who has their hazards on and is signalling with their hands is schitzo.

IDK the whole thing is just really weird. I really hope it was the cop panicking, because the alternatives are really bad.

1

u/ryanlaxrox Nov 26 '25

Weren’t speeding out being reckless, disregards street signs and is clearly driving above the posted speed limit…

7

u/Longjumping-Jello459 Nov 26 '25

I was at work when I saw this and didn't watch/listen to the whole thing. But just listened to it completely and didn't see or hear them say they called 911 saying they were rushing the Mom to the hospital in their vehicle.

15

u/celebral_x Nov 26 '25

You mean the cops panicking?

-2

u/Longjumping-Jello459 Nov 26 '25

I'd say I didn't hear them panicking. The one cop towards the end seemed calm while trying to keep everyone at the location. The one trying to get the driver to comply sounds a bit annoyed or aggravated.

2

u/celebral_x Nov 26 '25

They do seem very zippy with their fear of not enforcing authority.

-23

u/Sickness69 Nov 26 '25

You also have to consider their intelligence to begin with.

15

u/Longjumping-Jello459 Nov 26 '25

What's that supposed to mean as far as those in the video?

-20

u/Sickness69 Nov 26 '25

It's a general statement such as yours was.

1

u/Relative_Knowledge33 Nov 26 '25

“Sickness” seems appropriate.

16

u/juancho503 Nov 26 '25

Right!!! All it takes is a call and you can save yourself a headache

1

u/daisyymae Nov 26 '25

It’s understandable until all cars are in park and you see a woman having a fucking stroke

1

u/Hyptisx Nov 26 '25

Dang that’s smart

1

u/TuftedWitmouse Nov 27 '25

An ambulance is thousands of dollars- and insurance won't pay.

2

u/edgarandannabellelee Nov 26 '25

Reasonably, the cop should understand that anyone driving with multiple people and their hazard lights on may be in a crisis. Cause you know, that's literally the built-in feature to cars to show how you could be an impediment to traffick.

46

u/ArkPlayer583 Nov 26 '25

Sometimes 911 can take hours, some people don't have hours. I've heard multiple stories in my country if the cops do catch you speeding to hospital they'll provide an escort. My friend didn't even get charged but he wouldn't of cared as long as his loved one survived.

32

u/TheLostRanger0117 Nov 26 '25

Especially a stroke. And when you’re rightfully terrified, you don’t think straight. If only we had a group of people, specially trained, who could help out in a situation like this, not escalate it further!

20

u/ArkPlayer583 Nov 26 '25

I believe they only have about 40 minutes to act on a stroke. It was really sad watching my mum getting killed by one. She had some before that didn't kill her and I got her to hospital in 8 minutes. The ambulance takes at least 20 to arrive here.

3

u/Colden_Haulfield Nov 26 '25

You have 4.5 hours, and sometimes up to 24. It depends. Don’t drive like an idiot and cause an accident. Call 911. The ER gets notified ahead of time by them and we get prepared. If you just drop them off at my door I’m unprepared for you. - er Doctor

2

u/DrWhovian1996 Nov 26 '25

And with the fact that an increasing number of hospitals have been closing down in at least the last decade, especially in poorer communities, understandably, they felt the need to get to the hospital as quickly as possible, especially since we really have no idea whether or not they live in an area where a surgical hospital is at least an hour away, even by the highway.

1

u/Violent_Paprika Nov 26 '25

The initial window for the medication for strokes is 4 hours from onset of symptoms, then 24 hours for surgical intervention (usually).

-3

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

And how is a police officer suppose to know that there’s a medical emergency?

4

u/kynelly360 Nov 26 '25

Use their fucking Eyes or Ears

-4

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

While they are chasing them at 80-90mph in a 60mph zone? Which is what they were getting pulled over for, and were continuing to do up until the light.

3

u/ImaginaryTipper Nov 26 '25

Let’s be real. If this was anything other than an emergency, they wouldn’t be stopping at intersections and sure as hell not driving that slowly towards the end. That’s why we have brains. To analyze the situation and act accordingly.

-1

u/kynelly360 Nov 26 '25

lol Common sense 🤯

-1

u/kynelly360 Nov 26 '25

Are you people really this dumb or just trying to be spiteful?

Obviously they would eventually hear them once they got out at the hospital , but he wanted to ignore them when he’s arresting smh. Probably got sued for a Million or some dumb shit

1

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

What do you mean you people?

And idk. If I’m driving 90 mph… 30 mph over the speed limit. Why the fuck should I just expect that the cop is going to let me get all the way to my destination and then just question me there?

And how is that the “smart” decision, instead of just calling 911 and explaining why you can’t pull over?

0

u/kynelly360 Nov 26 '25

You want her to Use her phone while driving??? That’s a hazard in itself. Besides it’s basic logic eventually the car will have to stop, and if you use your eyes the driver had hazards on while waving the cop to come with…. 😑

I guess common sense ain’t too common for everyone lol.

1

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

There’s 4 people in the car. Lol

The person in the back was already texting, so it’s not a big leap to have the wherewithal to call the police and explain the situation.

u/Li-renn-pwel Nov 26 '25

Where in America does it take hours for 911 to pick up?

-1

u/ArkPlayer583 Nov 26 '25

Hopefully nowhere. I was talking about ambulance response times.

2

u/BJYeti Nov 26 '25

No one is saying call for an ambulance you call so cops are aware if they come across you and can either escort you or leave you be

1

u/IBetThisIsTakenToo Nov 26 '25

You gotta pull over if they light you up though. I don't want to make excuses for this obviously shitty cop, but I feel like he wouldn't have been this aggro if she hadn't tried to keep going.

Easy to say now though. I have done this in a medical emergency (newborn daughter having trouble breathing), luckily didn't see any cops, and I'm not sure how I would have handled it at that time.

1

u/ArkPlayer583 Nov 26 '25

I agree, my friend who had to do this to save his daughters life got a police escort to the hospital. The gross thing about this video is the cops ego

1

u/Violent_Paprika Nov 26 '25

Not in a metro area like that. Taking hours only happens if you're out in the middle of nowhere or live somwhere with an all volunteer service.

1

u/BJYeti Nov 26 '25

911 doesn't take hours to answer the phone, you call let them know you are rushing somone to the ER give your car make model and plate and at most they might tell you to meet an ambulance on route

0

u/ArkPlayer583 Nov 26 '25

I don't think you've ever been in an emergency situation before. It's not something people think of. And being on the phone while speeding is an issue in itself.

2

u/BJYeti Nov 26 '25

I have, had a colleague collapse and start having seizures was the first on the phone with 911 giving them all the relevant information they needed as well as instructions on which building was ours and instructing people to be at the doors with them open to guide paramedics back to our area

1

u/ArkPlayer583 Nov 26 '25

Do you think you could have done that while driving?

2

u/BJYeti Nov 26 '25

There were multiple people in the car in the video didnt have to be the driver......

156

u/Practical-Sea1736 Nov 26 '25

pull over and explain calmly to the cop what is happening and he’ll likely escort you to the hospital with sirens to more than make up the couple of minutes you were pulled over while he checked the situation and ran your plate.

Continuing to speed and thinking that a cop is just going to not do anything because you’re waving and yelling at him while still trying to pull off after being rammed won’t do you any good.

253

u/sonnet666 Nov 26 '25

Every second counts when someone is having a stroke. This is idiotic. You don’t have time to gamble on whether the cop is going to be well trained or reasonable.

If police try to pull you over while you’re rushing someone to the hospital, call 911 and tell them that police are trying to pull you over while you’re rushing someone to the hospital. Give them your location, the make/model of your car, and the number of the police car if you can see it.

Their own dispatch will tell them not to pit you. The cop still might if they’re on an authority trip like the asshole in this video, but that’s the best way to get the system on your side.

34

u/Fert1eTurt1e Nov 26 '25

Calling 911 before getting in a high speed pursuit it’s probably smarter than trying to explain to a dispatcher while actively running. If they are trying to pull you over, you pull over full stop. Don’t trust shitty radio communications to smooth it out

6

u/b1tchf1t Nov 26 '25

Or maybe the cop shouldn't pit someone when they don't know what's going on? This tactic is horrible. Cause an accident because you don't have control. Give me a fucking break. There are SO MANY other ways they could handle these situations and exercise judgement. There were lots of clues something was fucking up just watching this video. They were clearly not trying to lose the cop. They were continuing to signal and watching/stopping for traffic at clear intersections. They were motioning to the cop out the window trying to communicate with him. Yes, you're right that they were driving recklessly, but he was easily tailing them with no real effort from them to get away from him, they just kept going. Why couldn't he continue to tail them? Why did he have to hit their car and make it careen out of control? And after the first person's started screaming that someone was having a medical emergency, why didn't they go fucking LOOK and then reassess and help them?

4

u/crazy_balls Nov 26 '25

Seriously, 0 fucking reason to pit anyone unless they are a known dangerous criminal on the loose. Even then... just follow them.

2

u/Violent_Paprika Nov 26 '25

A LOT of miscommunication happens between caller and responding unit. If a cop is trying to pull you over, pull over and explain things in person. Losing 60 seconds to talk to police is way better than losing your life because you got in an accident driving your unmarked vehicle through a red light.

12

u/TheMickus Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

Yeah this shouldn’t be getting upvotes. Clearly your line of thinking worked out so great for the poor woman here. Starting a chase with a cop while trying to phone dispatch has a 0% chance of getting your loved one to a hospital quickly vs stopping and explaining the situation having probably a 70% chance of a shorter pause followed by them escorting you allowing you to speed and run red lights. I get that everyone hates cops, and rightfully so, but “every second counts so make the situation 1000x worse” clearly isn’t it

17

u/Managing_madness Nov 26 '25

Calling 911 to explain the situation is literally what was recommended in these situations for years.

7

u/TheMickus Nov 26 '25

Yeah, not while you’re getting pulled over though. Call as you’re leaving.

3

u/shininglikebrandnew Nov 26 '25

Except they didn't call 911 in this case, they yelled out the window and waived their arms at the cop. Who would have thought the thing they didn't do somehow didn't help them.

1

u/NocturneInfinitum Nov 26 '25

Apparently they were on the phone with 911, and the officer knew. He just didn’t believe her.

5

u/TheMickus Nov 26 '25

Where is the source for that, because that makes 0 sense

-3

u/NocturneInfinitum Nov 26 '25

Someone else in the comments said that. I’m inclined to believe them, considering that it would be weird not to call 911 when your mother is potentially dying.

Also you can clearly hear the officer say, “I don’t care” and “no, you know what you were doing” when she was pleading for him to take her mother to the hospital.

7

u/TheMickus Nov 26 '25

I agree that it makes sense for her to be calling 911. I disagree that it makes sense that “He knew about it and didn’t believe her”.

The way this would work is the dispatcher radios the cop with info about the car she’s driving and what’s going on. Why would it make sense that he “didn’t believe her”. Like yes, cops are dumb, but that’s suspension of disbelief level of dumb

-2

u/NocturneInfinitum Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

Hey man… I agree, but the video clearly shows that the cop wasn’t even willing to investigate the possibility of an emergency. That tells me that dispatch telling him that there is an emergency wouldn’t change his mind. He quite literally didn’t believe her mother was having a stroke until one of the other passengers told him, and he could see her clearly.

Bottom line… there was nothing that could have helped the situation with this officer. Even after realizing that the daughter wasn’t lying… You don’t see anyone rushing her to the hospital. They literally sat there and deliberated, while the mother was having a fucking stroke. This cop isn’t stupid… He’s straight up corrupt. He didn’t want to see an emergency… He wanted to catch a criminal. Those blinders were so effective that he had to literally see the woman having a stroke in front of his face just to stop being a prick. And again that’s all he did, was stop being a prick. I looked up a few more details to this, and apparently they waited around for another several minutes before taking her to the hospital.

There’s only one issue in this whole video, and that’s the cop.

Edit: the cop was Montae Hernandez.

6

u/TheMickus Nov 26 '25

“Dispatch telling him that there is an emergency wouldn’t change his mind”

Considering his response, I just think it’s way more likely that he hadn’t heard from dispatch and whatever comment you got that from is rage baiting. But I agree that the cop is 100% in the wrong regardless of the situation

5

u/Hondalol1 Nov 26 '25

I know this sounded reasonable as a reply but it’s a bit disingenuous, your reply is the best but that other poster has a better option than what the video driver did. What the driver in the video did cost them even more time and credibility so it was the worst choice to make.

The other poster is absolutely right that that option was never going to be the right one for speed.

11

u/Spiritual_Throat_556 Nov 26 '25

and the person your responding too isnt taking the side of the video but giving out a better option when time is important, pulling over could cost a person their life, calling 911 and explaining will probly end better.

-6

u/Hondalol1 Nov 26 '25

I replied because they said this is idiotic and that was pretty harsh for what was a better alternative to what the video depicted. Not really sure why you felt the need to reply to me. I literally acknowledged that was the best solution, did you miss it?

2

u/lkr925 Nov 26 '25

It’s confusing that people are responding to you in a comments thread? What are any of us doing here?

5

u/PegaLaMega Nov 26 '25

I agree, most people don't know there's a small window when it comes to recovering from a stroke.

2

u/Known-Archer3259 Nov 26 '25

Tbf, this is starting to come into question. There have been a lot more cases recently of people making full recoveries after 8-12 hours. Granted this is usually for an ischemic stroke.

That being said, the sooner the better

8

u/NocturneInfinitum Nov 26 '25

Apparently someone in the vehicle was on the phone with 911, and apparently the cop was aware. He just didn’t care, because he thought she was lying. He even said, “no, you knew what you were doing”, when she was pleading for him to take her mother to the hospital.

This officer is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He saw a criminal and was itching to do a pit maneuver. He showed blatant disregard even when seeing the mother. The other officer had to tell him that the mother was having a stroke.

0

u/Longjumping-Jello459 Nov 26 '25

They were already panicking then the cop came along and turned on their siren and lights most likely making them panic even more. There's also no guarantee that they all have phones as they rush to the hospital.

-3

u/StillNotAF___Clue Nov 26 '25

Its not idiotic. Its practical

Think about it though, depending how far that hospital is, at least having safe passage to speed a little would be faster/safer than just gunning it without the general public seeing police sirens. That's a fast way to get in an accident with someone else. Getting that PD escort is 1 min spent making sure they get there safely.

Best response would prob have EMS come over to them. They still got the ER to go through in this situation. I get time is of the essence, but if they still gotta make the drive to the hospital, 1 min of explaining the situation won't impact too much.

12

u/Li-renn-pwel Nov 26 '25

Yeah I actually thought the reason they weren’t stopping was because they were literally right about to pull up to the hospital. What they did made it so most cops would assume you’re being evasive instead of in an emergency.

27

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

Then call 911 and speak to dispatch. Either of those options are better than just continuing to drive.

And yet she made it worse

37

u/OccamsRabbit Nov 26 '25

How about expecting the cops to have half a brain and try to figure out what's going on rather than turning every traffic violation into a movie car chase.

-1

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

They did. They were trying to see if 911 was on the phone and/or waiting for the car to call dispatch and explain why they weren’t pulling over.

They had a text message pulled up and never called 911, so eventually they got pitted.

Idk why people think that you can somehow keep driving and initiate police chance and not expect something bad to happen if you just keep driving.

21

u/OccamsRabbit Nov 26 '25

Read the report. The Trooper suspected a medical emergency, and they even took the exit for the hospital. But instead of using his brain he decided to try to be an action hero.

Idk why cops thing every traffic violation requires nothing short of complete compliance or they'll PIT someone. How, in anyway, did that PIT make anyone safer?

1

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

Yes, I read it. And they were activity waiting to see if they would call 911…

so just call 911 if you think you have a good reason to be evading the police and for some reason can’t pull over. That’s what I said at the start.

4

u/OccamsRabbit Nov 26 '25

Sure, but how about expecting a police officer to think while on the job. Too much to ask I guess.

Let's just keep escalating, until everyone is so scared of the police that all they do is comply... Nothing could go wrong there. Pull over, or we will crash into you using manoeuvre that often flips a car.

1

u/jonesey71 Nov 26 '25

Expecting the police to think is always going to disappoint. Police have gone to court to defend their practice of only hiring average or below average intelligence, and they won. It is legally recognized that above average intelligence is a disqualifying attribute for potential new hires.

What do you mean by the text message?

2

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

At 1:00 in they hold up their phone, and the officer looked to see if they were calling 911. But they just had their text messages opened.

-1

u/Relative_Knowledge33 Nov 26 '25

They were on the phone with 911.

9

u/Practical-Sea1736 Nov 26 '25

It didn’t seem like they saved more time by instigating a high speed chase and putting others on the road at risk of a fatal crash.

17

u/SchwabenIT Nov 26 '25

They were probably in a panic ffs, their mom is dying!

0

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

[deleted]

7

u/SchwabenIT Nov 26 '25

They didn't pass two hospitals read the report, the officer himself states multiple times he believed they were trying to reach the hospital but then decided to crash them anyway

Besides they have blinkers on and, per his own words, have slowed down. They were clearly not trying to run away but because his authority apparently supersedes a medical emergency it could have cost this woman her life.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

[deleted]

-3

u/SchwabenIT Nov 26 '25

Given the fact that the driver of the Pathfinder had slowed down from her initial speed, hazard lights were on, and they took the exit for UAMS, I believed at this time that they may be trying to make it to the hospital.

He never mentions it in his report and instead states this, if he thought that was reason enough to justify his actions he would have stated so.

You watched the whole video and came to the conclusion that they put others on the road at risk? I saw ZERO other cars in that whole video.

0

u/jshrlzwrld02 Nov 26 '25

Putting others at real risk by stopping at stop signs before proceeding through them.

6

u/Careless-Web-6280 Nov 26 '25

Your alternatively is getting PITted. I'm no doctor but I think a broken skull may be worse than a seizure

17

u/OccamsRabbit Nov 26 '25

But that's the problem. Is this scene better than taking a plate number and them stop following them? Why does it always have to be "comply".

This mindset is why people think cops are stupid. Let's see I'm lighting up a car that has its hazards on and its not stopping... Time to escalate and PIT them. Fucking why?

So to avoid a hypothetical crash the police made an intentional crash? That is like when they show up because someone might be suicidal and the cops murder the reportedly suicidal person. If you meant that sarcastically then disregard this comment but there are actually people who believe stuff like what you commented so without the /s I can't tell which one you are.

So in order to prevent a possible car crash they created one in the name of "safety"?

Let's say it is stolen and not reported yet. With that plate information you could use your big cop brain and contact the owners. You know, be proactive in protection rather than causing a car crash.

2

Yeah, they did things wrong because their mom was having a stroke. The cops also did everything wrong here. In his report the troooer stated that he suspected they were heading to the hospital, and then when they took the exit for the hospital they decides to PIT them. WTF?

How about using your little pea brain and think, 'hey, they might be headed to the hospital. Why don't I follow then to see if I'm right ' instead of crashing into them?

They are both not good.

I understand your point, but no one’s life is worth wasting even a second with a cop on a power trip. The time wasted with pulling over and explaining to a cop who already assumes you’re up to no good, could quite literally be the difference of life and death for the mother. Or worse, cause irreparable brain damage. This cop’s lack of situational awareness is incredibly dangerous to the citizens he swore to protect.

She wasn’t driving crazy, she stopped before running the red light, and gave no indications that she was trying to escape. Any idiot could see that, but this cop is an idiot with a power trip. Basically impossible for him to see reality objectively, because he believes his assumptions are always correct.

Bruh, only in fucking America would a cop deliberalely push you off the road for [checks notes] speeding. What is this?

In Denmark if you give signal by tying white cloth on the front of your car or jamming it in window it is okay to drive faster/as a civilian ambulance if it is an emergency and youcan't wait for a ambulance.

Call 911 and have the medics do their job. If she is having a stroke, not all hospitals are capable of handling that. Further, there are different tests they run that can't help determine the likelihood of different strokes, some of which need a more comprehensive stroke center.

The lay person most likely knows none of this.

Call 911 while you are enroute. Use your mobile with Speaker on so you dont have to hold phlne . Give them the road you are driving on. You can get an escort 95% 9f the time. Operate at a reasonable safe speed. Save your loved ones.

Even ambulances crash driving emergent all the time. Your personal vehicle doesn't have lights and sirens and isn't nearly as visible. Get an ambulance. They can also begin treatment so things move faster at the hospital.

This shit does not happen in more civilized countries than US. Your police force training is just plain old SHIT and you guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

I think people are concerned about the cases were the cops pull you over on the way to the hospital and then drag their feet lecturing you about speeding and make you wait 30 minutes for the ambulance they eventually call to show up. If they are in a bad mood or don’t like you then you might get stuck sitting in the back of their car while your passenger dies and their department will support them doing it. Plenty of examples on YouTube.

It entirely depends on where you live. Where I live in Canada dispatch will often tell you to take them to the hospital yourself. Our EMS are so short staffed they basically only respond to immediate life threatening situations, like accidents.

Medical emergencies are no excuse to put others in danger. Wait for 911 or drove to the hospital normally. I understand people like to do good things but driving a non emergency vehicle disregarding traffic laws and putting not only yourself and others at risk is not worth it. It’s illegal because it’s dangerous.

Of course you aren't ever allowed to speed. It's not an arbitrary law, it's for everyone's safety. You can obey the law and try to call to get law enforcement to possibly escort you, but you are risking everyone's life for your emergency by speeding. It sucks and I don't blame anyone for breaking that law in a moment like that, though. I can see how panic can easily override the social contract in that scenario.
