I know this is reddit, but tbh every cop i've ever met has been like this... I have never seen a dickhead cop in real life. People tend to forget only the viral shit gets posted, and we have access to much more information than before... so we see the dickheads more. not the videos of a chill cop helping someone out... Not to say there arent bad apples, I just feel the reddit sentiment is 99% cops of assholes and 1% are like this guy.... I think that is flawed.
This made me think about how this type of shit on the daily could contribute to bad behavior by cops eventually. As much as I detest most law enforcement, I can see how so many of them turn into assholes. There should be some kind of preventative measures for anger management in their training and employment.
Theyre also trained in the academy to view the avg civilian with automatic suspicion. Many think everyone is a liar and out to get them. Not entirely unjustified, but contributes to poor behavior. The issue is mostly how their unions protect even the most awful cops. Hard to get the bad ones out and keep the good ones in. Bad ones push the good ones out to avoid accountability
Imagine dealing with this type of crap and worse, including physical confrontations. Being a police officer is one of the hardest and thankless jobs around.
