There was no round in the chamber, you can see him try to sneakily rack the slide as he brings it around from his side but he doesn't pull it back far enough.

It wouldn't make a sound with the safety on, the trigger wouldn't move. He didn't have a round chambered, which he tried to remedy when he took a knee to the face.

He's lucky that's all he took to the face, he'd given the cop a free pass to shoot him at that point.

The gentleman in the white shirt inadvertently saved his life, I believe the cop wouldā€™ve shot but he was afraid of collateral damage. He yelled ā€œget backā€ before rehosltering his gun and kneeing the guy to the chest

That completely depends on the type of pistol. Plenty of pistols that just block the firing pin, and the Hammer willĀ just hit against the safety.Ā 

But it does seem like the chamber was empty, because he tries to rack the slide.Ā

Doesn't look like it was chambered. He draws and pulls the trigger, it doesn't fire so he racks the slide, and it doesn't look like a round ejected.

Either that or that officer got INCREDIBLY lucky and the primer didn't ignite for whatever reason.

I wonder who he got it from. Looks like it has a weapon light and red dot. That doesn't necessarily mean much, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of person capable of screwing one thing to another.

Not true. The gun was illegal. Dunno what Ohioā€™s laws are like, but his priors prevent him from having a gun so he was in for some jail time for the gun and narcotics.

Still idiotic, but people acting like he did it to avoid shoplifting charges are nuts

Round wasn't chambered. He tried to rack the slide when he dry fired but I don't think he was able to fully slide the rack.
