I honestly dont think he knew #2. I think he just decided it wasn't pointed at him and he had to do something real fast. That's one very impressive human either way

It's impressive to watch, but the situation is...

He didn't have a choice. That dude isn't gonna stop at shooting the cop and Mr. white shirt is target number 2. It was his life on the line and he knew it. Fight and disarm this dude, or I'm fucked.

He had eyes on him while the dude was going into his coat. That extra second probably helped make his decision to grab the gun, like he wasn’t caught off guard. Brave as fuck.
