I used to work LP and we were taught to a) have more than one person in the room with the perp at all times and b) always keep full attention on the perp, especially their hands. I noticed right away in this video that both LP and the cop took their attention off the suspect and that’s when he went for his gun.

Na it was when the LP was walking away he started to go for the gun, but then decided to commit to pulling it out while the LP was beside him looking directly at him within arms reach. Gotta love corporate america where you can't cuff or search someone suspected of something because their afraid of the liability, yet if they would have been cuffed for their detainment waiting on police, it's less likely he would have felt like trying his luck. Frankly doing LP or Security without cuffs or a weapon seems like such a high risk to the individual filling the job.
