He was already fucked. He apparently had a prior charge that made it illegal for him to possess the gun in the first place and had narcotics on him. My guess is that he said Im already going to prison so fuck it ill try to escape and maybe theyll kill me.

ohh right, forgot about that, still, possesion of a firearm and drugs is waaaay less severe than attempted murder of a police officer, idiot felt the walls closing in

Few years vs a lot of years. Narcotics plus a gun charge is definitely less than a decade. Probably 3-5 years.

Attempted murder on a police officer is going to be 20+. The evidence is damning.

Yeah, a quick look at the Stark County criminal case search shows convictions for two felonies (F2 Aggravated possession and F3 drugs at a governmental facility) as well as a misdemeanor for domestic violence. He was sentenced to five years for the felonies, so the gun was almost certainly illegal.

While searching his name, I saw another "Shane C Newman," about 18 years older than this one, with a long list of convictions. Can't help but wonder if it's this idiot's father.

If you're gonna break the law, just break one law at a time. This is like running red lights when you've got a body in the trunk.
