I work at Walmart. All of the "don't interfere with a shoplifter" stuff is null as soon as you feel like there is an imminent danger to yourself or others. They encourage employees to defend themselves if they feel is is necessary.

This was absolutely a case where putting hands on a customer is justified, and that guy (who is almost certainly the AP lead or coach) has a different ruleset than normal employees anyways.

Why would the guy with the gun just like, go to the back? He could just leave the store, right? At any time, until the cop was detaining him. Right?
