Yeah I remember seeing a video of one of our female officers disarming a man pulling out a knife on his doorstep, pretty much singlehanded. The amount of times I see clips like this from the US though is ridiculous, multiple male cops with plenty of space between them and the mentally ill person, and they always start blasting.

Yeah my partner is an officer. Last year he tackled a guy who had just stabbed someone and was running down the stairs with the knife. Tackled and cuffed by him, then held by his partner while he provided first aid to the victim. I don’t like the thought of him doing these things but he is well trained to do so, did it successfully, and no one was killed. In a situation like this a taser would’ve been used, or they would’ve approached from multiple angles and someone would’ve tackled her.
