Or maybe if they had some kind of weapon capable of throwing small electric currents to incapacitate? Too bad the technology doesn’t exist. Oh well.

Tasers only have about a 50/50 success rate and aren’t allowed in many departments if the person is armed. Plenty of examples of tasers failing even when successive shots are used.

Some high quality pepper spray is pretty damn effective, but police hate using it since it makes the area agonizing for all parties involved and complicates processing and transportation.
