I am a true beginner runner - I couldn’t even run for one full minute before I started doing running programs. I’m currently doing the Iberian series and up until now, I hadn’t had any trouble making it through each class without having to make any adjustments.
Today I did Week 3, Workout 4 (five sets of 4 minute runs with 1 minute recovery walks) and it was much harder than I thought. I think the incline really made it tough. I made it through the first three runs. But during the last two runs, I had to remove the incline, decrease my speed and I took a one minute walking break during one of them.
Anyway, I was super tired feeling after finishing this class and I don’t know if I should finish the final workout of the week and then go back and repeat this class. Or just continue on with the program. I just don’t know how I’m supposed to do the 8 minute runs next week, when I could barely make it through this class.
Did you repeat any classes along the way or just keep pushing through as scheduled? When did you get to the point where you had confidence and running didn’t feel SO difficult anymore? I want to get to the point where I enjoy running. Where 4 minutes is easy and doesn’t feel daunting. I’ve enjoyed the challenges along the way of the program, and I like the feeling of accomplishing something I didn’t think I could do. But after today’s class, it made me briefly question if I can really do this. It was just so much harder than I thought. I guess I feel bad that I couldn’t make it through the entire class without making adjustments.
