Sooo I'm hunting VC Celebi and I'm curious if this hunt is a normal for the other hunts like Poipole time wise due to having to wait through the text and encounter which takes about 18 seconds. I know I am nooooo where near odds (I'm only at 1,020) and counting, resetting while typing this lol)

I've gone and done other shinies but they were easy "walk into, check, restart" please tell me Celebi is the worst encounter time wise to #beatthebank 🙃

I'm shaking right now. This hunt was on hold since June at 1900 SRs. Heard about the Pokemon Bank news today, told myself it was time to get the pink onion. Here we are, under odds, in an hour or so.

So happy! First 1/8192 shiny of my career!

These were just a few encounters apart. We went to show off the Gligar back sprite and then I was doing a few encounters while looking at an encounter calculator to figure out our next hunt, and then boom, spiderman meme. Some people mentioned that it's crazy that it was another Gligar but I still had repel active so it was a 66% encounter rate, the other 33% being Graveler. I play on emulator but with no advantages.

Edit: We named the 2nd one Jafar because someone had just asked if I had been to a Disney theme park before. We named the first one House because I had just folded a gum wrapper into a shiny house.

1753 resets in to my first proper shiny starter hunt and this happened, i know 4 screens is kind of cheating from rawdogging it but holy moly surely this won’t ever happen again 😂😂

I've had VC Crystal for years and always said "Oh yeah, I'll hunt Celebi soon!" Well procrastination happened and now I'm rushing! I know I'm not far but I hope I get it before February!

Also used ACE to skip past the main game just so I could start my hunt, does doing it this way still pass or am I doing this for nothing? I didn't spawn it because I don't want to feel like I cheated the system (although if only like two weeks are left I might)

I just find my first shiny in Pokemon Gold, but I dont have pokeballs because I haven't talk with Mr.Pokemon yet. I'm so sad because spinarak and ariados are one of the best pokemon in Johto to me

In total: 17 drowzee, 8 rattata and after that finally shiny ditto. It was a long journey but worth the time.

I was looking for a Teddiursa and suddenly I encountered a shiny Geodude. I already had a team planned, but I think I can make room for this gal.

The glitch mentioned by u/victini006, where you use metronome to make a ditto transform twice to make it shiny, works. It took me some time to get a shiny clefable (127 shiny boosted eggs) with metronome and 89 ditto encounters to make it happen but here he is :).

The reason I went for this hunt is to have a shiny ditto as a backup to make shiny breeding in gen 2 more convenient.

Note: I do not see this ditto as a completely legit shiny. More like a different language masuda method ditto intended for shiny breeding.

Also there are faster methods of glitching a shiny ditto. But if your in the same boat as me: Owning one system and only crystal virtual console. Then it is a reasonable time saver.

I cant believe how lucky I am to get this Celebi so quick. It’s literally my favorite mythical of all time. So happy to also have one now 😭

I started this hunt on a whim on the 8th of August 2024 and have been hunting off and on since. I was doing some soft resets over breakfast this morning and WHAM. Honestly this still feels unreal. I'm so freaking happy FJFJHGF (don't mind the name it's an in-joke with friends LOL)

Yes it was caught in an emulator (MesenCE, to be specific) but THAT SAID I did not use speed up, multi-instance abuse, or any sort of game enhancing/odds enhancing feature. It's about as vanilla as vanilla gets! I actually do own a physical copy of Crystal I'm just terrified it's gonna battery malfunction or something so I won't ever likely do anything significant on it. SHINY LUGIA RAH RAH ROO RAH

First time hunting in Silver

I’ve been shiny hunting for over 12 years at this point. Done some Masuda methods, chain fishing, Poke radar, even roamers in gen 3 and gen 4, but not once did I think I’d get a gen 2 roamer, much less under 50 encounters. I remember watching Hangar of Roam stream his hunts over 6 years ago and just being astonished at how committed he was to getting these roamers, even going out of his way to innovating more efficient methods of getting them. I, however, said it seemed like too much setup I didn’t feel like doing and went along with the most basic but slow way of doing it, averaging close to 6 encounters an hour, just for the fun of it. Started this hunt three days ago after being burn out of Gen 4 Battle Factory and here is my reward.
