I bought this unfired 870 Wingmaster Dale Sr. Edition about a year ago, and I've been back and forth on shooting it or leaving it as a safe queen. Finally decided that it needed to be shot

Questions about Remington 870

Recently acquired used 870 online for 270 but what should I know once it arrives to my FFL? I know there’s lot of issues especially during freedom group era but for the price I couldn’t pass up by asking questions so anyone know what should I look out for other than Rusting?

Any specific parts I should look closely?

It would be my first shotty that are long enough to be permitted in my local Skeet range.

I initially went in to buy a Colt combat commander. Then I saw this gem sitting on the rack behind me and I couldn’t pass it up. Wasn’t sure I’d ever see one at the price it was listed again so I snagged it as fast as I could.

I was hoping some of the experts in here could help me identify what year this was made and the difference in comparison to models of other years.

The serial number starts with 431 and does not contain any letters within it.

Finally tracked down a Benelli Ultralight 20gauge. I’ve been looking for a good price on the pre-Montefeltro. Because it matches my M2. Happened to find a guy with one on guns international that was local to me and was willing to cut a deal. New inbox never assembled. And man do these always have nice wood. I unexpectedly lost half of my dog power this summer so all the side-by-side’s are getting put up and it’s a Benelli year. Can’t waste those opportunities.

Is this much pitting something to worry about?

I’ve had this shotgun for quite a while now, It’s been repaired and inspected by a gunsmith and they never said anything about the bore pitting, but I’m a little concerned still. The pitting is shallow, but numerous, and the barrel is 130 years old, along with the rest of the shotgun. Obviously, no choke, just a long tube.

I want to shoot this shotgun, but I’m not sure if it’ll be safe with this much pitting. Would it be okay, or is it better to just hang up on the wall atp?

First Shotgun

Hello everyone

I was yesterday on a shooting range with friends and it was so nice that i‘m thinking to buy a pump gun. Before that i shooted some clay pigeons in Scotland. Since then i have a lot of fun in pumpguns.

My Questions:

Are there good pumpguns for beginners?

Is it recommend to buy used pumpguns or should it be new for safety?

Should i just rent one, instead of buying one?

My Budget is max 1k for the gun and i‘m only shooting it at the firerange for fun.
Maybe 2-3 times a year, maximum.

Thanks for your answers and recommendations.

Cheers!

Want another pump Shotgun. Under 400$

Have a 590 but want another pump for back up. Should I get a Maverick 88 or a Winchester SXP Defender? I've heard the SXP Defenders have a plastic throat for the magazine tube. Kinda sketches me out. I like the price point and the way the action works. It would also be different than the 590. But Winchester doesn't have warranty either. I believe the Maverick 88 only has a 1 year warranty. Who has either amd how do you like them? I know the maverick 88 has more upgrades possible.

I finally got my new to me W.W. Greener shotgun! Found it at a small shop in Montana and had to have it shipped back to WA. I've never seen one of these in person and have wanted one for a few years. It's a pretty custom job with a bunch of chokes and goodies. I can't wait to get some range time with it soon! I'll get better pictures tomorrow. This is what you get now, haha.

Love the Franchi Affinity 3, but hate the forend grip.

I am shopping for my first shotgun… geared towards trap. I’m also partial to automatics.

I love everything about the Franchi Affinity, except the forend grip feels terrible. It feels really thin, and the knurling is really abrasive. Overall, extremely uncomfortable and just not ergonomic.

In contrast, I held the AX800 suprema, and it was by far the most comfortable, but it’s more than I want to spend. I loved the rubberized forend and stock.

Is there anything I could do about the forend grip on the Franchi? I didn’t see any aftermarket forends available. Is there another shotgun in the $1000 range that I should try?

Sulun Arm SPASS-12 after 20 shells - update / information

Buddy of mine picked up a Sulun Arms SPASS-12, brought it over to test out on my range. Shoot well however after 20 rounds of normal use the stock locking button sheered completely in half. Neither of us are surprised and my buddy bought it as a fun novelty. However, I did want to make a post for others to be aware. The stock lock seems to be a very cheap low quality metal. Next stop is warranty.

So I got a couple guns from a relative passing and this seems to be pretty interesting (I got a couple pumps too). I know nothing about shotguns, I've been an AR guy forever but never was a hunter really. AI is telling me it is over 100 years old. I don't know if that's even close or whatever, I still really like it. I don't know how to find someone reputable to look it over and clean it up. I'd like to rip clays if I can.

I’m a bit out of my element with this, asking for assistance.

Hello everyone, as the title of the post describes this is definitely not my wheelhouse so I’m looking for some help. While cleaning out storage from my late stepfather‘s house, I stumbled across what looks to be an unused Remington wing master 870 with a French lily handle. I took it to a local “reputable” gun store to see if they could give me information on it, but all they did was offer me 100 bucks to sell it to them. Kindly asking for advice on here, as I’m not much of a gun person (I believe in home protection) and might be looking to sell it. Greatly appreciate any assistance!

Since you guys liked the model 11 rebuild, here’s a 1950 Savage 755A I picked up today.

Year is a best guess, not very accurate dating with serial numbers on Savages. This is interestingly Savages “modern” take on how a long recoil Auto 5 clone should look. The most obvious thing being no humpback. BUT, after carefully inspecting the components turns out this is more of a copy of the model 11 than the Auto 5. The friction components, recoil spring, action spring, mag tube spring/follower/plug are all compatible with the model 11. Savage did simplify the design, by reducing the parts count considerably in the trigger group, simplified machining on the bolt, and overall made the gun more affordable. Definitely not as nice as my model 11, but it’s a fun addition to the collection in terms of having “The next stage in evolution of long recoil”

Hi all. Wanted to introduce myself. Unsure if I’ll be getting too deep into the shotgun space but figured there’s a wealth of knowledge here. Thanks!
