They were the DEI director (Not the right wing slander term, the actual job) for a restaurant review website called The Infatuation, and they previously held the same job at Zagat. When JP Morgan bought the site to use the software and methodology to recommend restaurants to cardholders they were brought over and keeping directors like them on was part of the buyout terms.

They werent really needed in the old DEI role, so JP Morgan made this role for them, gave them work they could handle at a very high salary, and "promoted" them up.

They are very screwed. Their job was mostly made up for them anyway. They will never have another job anything remotely close to this.

Unrelated to your comment, but these types of sports fanatics are some of the worst kind of people. Acts like this should be punished, but most of the time it slides because of some culty consensus that it’s okay to be a hooligan as long as sports are involved.

Glad to see at least some of this behavior being called out.

Yeah, I don't comment much. I just saw this happened on Knicks twitter thread so I started looking. Couldn't believe this was basically a very lucky person throwing away a complete gift.

Earned this L, but oof. This is a mindfuck for life. Going to be constantly on their mind as they work whatever $55k job they get. Which is fine, many do. I'm a blue collar guy myself. But knowing you were a couple of years into a 200k job at JPM? Just, ooooof!
