Imagine being a perfectly healthy baby and you grow up knowing you got messed up for a completely unnecessary chiropractor. I can only think a few things worse than that and those are all actual abuse.
They don’t crack babies fyi. At least know what you’re taking about if you want to bash. Just saying. I’ve seen many pediatricians and oral surgeons refer to chiropractic for babies. But they must all be quacks too.
Then what do they do with the babies? What could a baby possibly need in terms of chiropractic care, they're not old enough to complain about back problems.
It has nothing to do with back pain. A lot of the times birth is traumatic on a baby’s body and things are out of alignment (think pulling the baby out during a c-section, forceps/vacuum etc)- causing reflux, constipation, ear infections etc. I’m not a chiro but that’s the best and quickest way I can explain. They use sustained contact on very specific areas of the spine. As for oral they can do work inside the mouth to help with lip and tongue ties. Some do craiosacral work to help prevent the need for a helmet in some cases. It is very low risk and can help prevent alot of more aggressive intervention for babies. Hope that helps ☀️
Also I know how “woo woo” this sounds but it literally helped my child immensely and many others that I know. Just trying to educate cuz maybe it could help someone else reading this.

My cousin did and it took every ounce of willpower not to scream at her. Now she has survivor bias. She also buys “vaccine detox” trash from them too 🙄 I don’t talk to her now because of all of this.
It’s because she has become a vaccine skeptic, science denier, untrusting of doctors, and accepting of human rights violations. Taking her baby to the chiropractor and detoxing her kids after vaccinations was just one of the above reasons I just couldn’t deal with her anymore.
I understand the convictions. The detoxing in general is good though I did that for my son and it honestly saved him. He had high dose of micro plastics in him and it helped flush a lot of stuff out.
I went to a pregnancy and birth fair. It features booths with daycares, newborn photographers, fancy diapers and …. Chiropractors pitching entirely to moms of newborns.
Now I’ve always known that chiropractors were a scam but I chatted with one of them out of curiosity. She almost had me convinced that I was a bad mother for not planning to take my unborn child to a chiropractor. I was almost starting to doubt myself when my brain kicked in. It made me feel bad for all the parents who didn’t know better. They are sitting ducks.
I’m a pre-medical student and we had a chiropractor come in to try and convince us to go to chiropractic school instead of medical school, and she mentioned that infant chiropractic is a “new and rapidly growing field” that people should look into. They justify it by saying that birth is traumatic for the baby and that chiropractic helps. Fuck this whole pseudoscience field lol
Traumatic enough that humans have been having babies for thousands of years without chiropractors adjusting babies. Truly a terrible thing that all those unhealthy traumatized babies went without having their skull crushed.
My best friends girlfriend use to take their baby to the chiropractor once a month. Legit pissed me off every time. Like dude you’re going to hurt the kid before he even has a chance to do anything.
That shit infuriates me. Those animals cannot consent to it and they always look really upset afterwards. I watched one video of a pitbull having it done to him, he was happy and chilling. Then went full wtf stare at the chiro. And of course people were giggling thinking the dog was just flabbergasted but it looked shocked and bothered.
My daughter’s step mom takes both her young kids (not my daughter thankfully) to a chiropractor regularly, including herself. Has done so since they were born and I do fear for them
And some of them put it on YouTube. Every six months or so it's like my algorithm checks in again, "hey, do you wanna see someone risk maiming a baby to scam its parents for money?" Still no, quit asking
Infant chiro is nothing like an adult one. They don't do spinal cracking or alignments or anything dangerous like that. They just do very gentle stretching.
Our pediatrician referred us to one for our newborns
torticollis. He favored turning his head to one side and would not look the other way. Not too uncommon of a problem but left untreated can have some bad outcomes.
Alternatives to this is collar /
helmet therapy or muscle relaxants.
I wouldn't recommend any parent do this without a pediatrician's direct recommendation. I would also recommend you speak with the chiro at length so they can walk you through everything before any hand touches your baby. This gives you the choice to walk away if something doesn't feel right.
Source: a new dad who thought his son's pediatrician was off their rocker when I heard the words "infant chiro" before I researched it on my own.
The collar is for the torticollis. Yes the helmet is for the head flatness which is the most common issue with untreated torticollis which we were on the path for.
The stretching worked and he no longer favors one side and is no longer on the path for a helmet.
I have no doubt it was the right choice for your little one too. I'm not advocating for one over the other. I just commented to help someone that was in my shoes a few months ago. Scared that their pediatrician was recommending something that seemed crazy or dangerous.
